Springfield XD in 357 sig?

I've been looking around to get a handgun in 357 sig for a while now. Of all the pistols available for this round so far I like the Springfield XD the best. Thing is, practically everyone I ever know or hear about has it in .45 or 9mm, sometimes the .40. I just wanted to know how it handles the 357 sig round. I figure its not the most popular chambering for it but I'm sure someone's tried it at this point. Any comments or constructive criticisms are welcome. Thanks.

Oh, BTW I'm not interested in arguing for or against the 357 round itself, I just want to know if anyone's shot it or know any info about shooting it through the XD

i don't know much about that caliber. have heard it's rather expensive which is what steered me away from it.
I have 2 XDs: .40 service and 9mm SC.

Nice thing about the .357 Sig or .40, you can get a conversion barrel for the other caliber + 9mm. (you can go from big to small but not small to big).

I got the .40 and considered getting the 9mm conversion barrel to be able to plink/practice cheaper at the range. I don't think i'd ever trust a conversion barrel for SD, though. In the end, i ended up just getting the 9mm SC so that settled the conversion barrel idea.

If the .357 Sig is really the round you like, you can get that and the 9mm conversion barrel for more economical plinking/practice. I wouldn't completely ignore rangetime with the chosen caliber for SD (.357) but at least save some $$.

i have shot it through the xd and i like it, i think that the .357sig is a great if not the best caliber choice for self defense. instead of buying a gun dedicated to .357 sig only which i have found hard to come by some times, i would buy the .40 get the .357sig conversion barrel, and have at it, this will also help out with the resale value later, there is a much higher probaility that you will be able to sell the .40 over the .357? maybe i am wrong but that is IMHO.

Buy it!
I was shootin' it in the last few months (a few hundred rounds) and I was impressed. It's a rental gun from the range and I had better results with it than with XD9. The recoil is not so bad either.
Plus, you can get barrels for .40SW and 9mm and have 3 guns in one!

I wouldn't hesitate whatsoever to buy an XD357 If I wanted to get into .357 Sig at all. However, I would not use a conversion barrel for defensive purposes. You can convert your 357 to 40 or 9mm just as easily as a 40 can convert to 357 or 9mm.

I've several XDs including the XD40, which is very similar, but I haven't had that specific gun. It's a bit of a rare bird.

Thanks for the advice guys. I know the 40 is a more popular caliber than the 357 sig, I'm just not as interested in that round at the moment. Its definitely a good idea to get a different barrel for it, especially the 9 for practice. Good to hear it shoots well in all 3 calibers either way.

I like the XD. I like the 357 round. However, I didn't like my XD-357. Mine had feeding issues so I got rid of it.

I still have XDs in 9mm and 45acp. I still have a Sig 229 in 357 sig. I'd like to get a S&W M&P in 357 sig.

If you're having feeding issues with a necked down round like the .357 SIG then it's either magazines or user error.
