While the discussion on the video at the site seems to center around the AR15 being at fault or a double charge, it looks like a textbook squib load on the first shot. The shooter performs immediate action after the first shot. That 1st shot had a SEVERELY understrength report for a .223. Never checks the barrel, and proceeds to fire the second one. His comment during the IA drill pretty much sums it up "I didn't load these, brian did."

Goes to show what can happen folks. Pay attention when shooting.

Warning, there's a bit of strong language when the AR detonates, so if you're easily offended, give it a miss.

Some of the advertising on that site is NSFW also. It is likely your corporate firewall will block the site too.

Basically, the video goes like this:

Guy aims and shoots. Quiet pop and no recoil. Dude drops the mag and pulls the charging handle. His friend comes over and it appears that he is looking at something on the bench (I bet it is an empty casing). Meanwhile the shooter replaces the mag and pulls the charging handle again. He studies the rifle for a second, then whacks the forward assist three times hard. After that he aims, and the rifle blows up. He jumps off the bench yelling obscenities, his friends ask if he is okay, and the video ends.

I'm wondering with his ears on if he hear a click instead of pop.

I bet he will never make that mistake again.

Someone in the comments suggests they "buy an AK47" as its "much more reliable" I guess underpowered rounds that don't reach the end of the barrel just get extracted by the secret Soviet teleporter device installed on all Kalashnikovs :neener:

Sounded a bit like a BB gun going off.

Note to THR members.... Unless your AR is suppressed, it should NOT go "piff" when your squeeze the trigger.

Safety tip o' the day.
