I finally got my steel target stand built. This one is just a prototype made from 2X4s. I have less than $15 invested in materials and the paint was left over from another project.

I’ll see how it holds up from bullet spatter.

I made the hangers from some 3/8” conveyer belt that my brother gave me and he made the hold downs for me out of 3/8” steel.

I set the target center height about 5 1/2 feet high.

Anyway, I plan to take it for a test drive this weekend.

Here’s what it looks like.

I'd have to see them in place against a berm but that looks tall.

MErl, the uprights are 6 feet tall (fits easily in bed of truck) and the target centers are a little over 5 1/2 feet from the ground. The pictures are a bit deceiving.

Here's a picture from today's outing at the "range".

That 'berm' would be enough to stop just about anything. :)

How did it hold up to a day of splatter?

Very nice work. I look forward to having my own range where I can build and use one of these some day.

Well the "berm" is on BLM about 5 minutes from the house
It's a popular spot so in the summer, you better be early.

The stand held up well. Some expected splatter, but no real problem.
