I put a 4-16 power scope on my Gamo .177 Shadow yesterday. It took a UTG high profile scope mount as the scope is a AO.

I was shooting on my 105 yard range hitting a steel gong 4 inches wide by 7 inches tall repeatedly with the right pellets. I wasn't shooting for accuracy per say but rather just to hear the ring.

I will repaint the steel and see what kind of groups I get. I was using JSB Exact, RWS Diabolo, Crosman Wadcutter and Beeman Coated HP. I had the best luck with JSB and RWS and the least repeatability with Beeman Coated HP. Crosman was somewhere in the middle.

I was pretty happy being able hit the plate seeing as the trigger is the worst I have ever used.

Any one else shoot theirs farther at targets? If so I might try 120 yards and see what happens.

My range has a berm at about 110. I have tried shooting my 22 Crosman Venom at a rock on the berm, and the drop is just too much at that point. Even with the proper hold-over of a yard or so, and even if I read the wind correctly, the variation in drop is probably more than a foot by then. Add that to the inherent accuracy, and vertical placement was pretty hopeless. With a 4"x7" target at 110 yards, my 650 fps rifle would be probably a 1 in 10 to hit on an average day. Maybe 30% on a very still day. I dunno how far a 177 at 900 fps will reach, but you're already beyond what my 22 will do.

I am holding over 5+ dots on the mil-dot scope for an approximate center of target impact with the Gamo Shadow .177. The scope is zeroed @ 35 yards.

Interestingly enough it's the same hold over as my Marauder in .22 for the same shot placement.

The Marauder will do 2" or less four shot groups at that distance as long as there is no wind using Crosman Magnum's.

I would be happy with a 3.5 " 4 shot group out of the Gamo using JSB's.

I need to order the other tuna trigger for the Gamo. Now if I can get my 1377 to do the same thing I would be really excited.

I like the challenge of ringing the steel with the cheaper guns, lots of fun.

I have a bowling pin at 95 yards and a green self healing crow @ 90 yards and with the PCP they don't stand a chance.

For some reason with the Gamo I have not been able to get my hold over quite right for consistency yet on the shorter targets.

With 14.3g Benjamin (look and are likely the same as crossman pellets my RWS 34 would shoots 3.5" groups.

I have a couple of air rifles including the Gamo Shadow and with this rifle, using the iron sights, it's entertaining to shoot at a coffee can hung endwise in a tree at 50 yards. Air guns are fun.
