A truly creative idea...!

Yes! What Mike in VA said!!
Talk about creative!!
The only way SOME people learn is the HARD way. Make 'em take responsibility for this dumb-ass trick!

See what "bullet-proof" vests do?

We obviously need a ban on bullet-proof vests! They cause people to be shot.

Seriously though,

If I am ever in a demonstration of the use of a vest, I will definitely take the shot in the gut. Everyone (or so I had thought) knows that a bullet that is stopped by the vest still impacts deeply into the body of the vest wearer, and I certainly would not want my spine to be in that location!

If I am ever in a demonstration of the use of a vest, I will definitely take the vest off and hang it from a target holder.

It's Hollywood's fault...

I was digging through my extensive VHS collection today and found a recording of LAPD SWAT team members demonstrating the "no man down" body armor that they wear.
For the .357 from point-blank, the guy shot himself in the chest!!!
However, when they broke out the .30-06, they strapped the vest to a clay torso... Hmmm, safety first! what a novel concept!
Either that or the guy was crazy enough to take a pistol round but not dumb enough to want for a rifle round to the chest...
No comparison between the "no man down" and a standard type 3A...

Maybe these guys were trying to emulate what I saw, seeing as to how there wasn't a "do not try this at home" warning tag line...

Too many hollywood movies misrepresent what a firearm can do...
I laugh at the people who think we should ban all violent movies, any movie that shows an actor smoking, and anything with a comedic vulgar word or obscene phrase... I agree in as much as that way, the only thing hollywood can screw up is Romance and Drama...

I've been shot by my friends with .177 BB's, 6mm airsoft, and too many to list all the various diameters of paintballs.

IT'S NEVER A FUN THING...

Unless I'm shooting back at them:D

I figure it like this;
It was NO accident and doesn't qualify as tragic. It was deliberate and illegal and deserves no different treatment than a guy who asks his buddy to run him over with the car and see if the airbag deploys...

At least they didn't wear the vest and try pot-shots at police officers until one shot back as a method for testing...

 :( :fire: :cuss: :banghead:

Is anyone interested...?

Perhaps a couple or so of us should try and FOLLOW this story and see what DOES come of it...

I disagree

Just because the kid did something stupid dosen't mean he should have to live out the rest of his time here on Earth in a wheelchair

Well...yes he should. Every action we take has a cost. Even when we're young and stupid. In my opinion he should have to pay the price for his mistake. There are plenty of people in wheelchairs who are there through no fault of thier own, I feel sorry for those folks. Not for some punk kid dumb enough to ask to be shot.

Not another reality show!!! Noooooo...!

Let's hope Fear Factor doesn't find out about this story!!!!
And this brings to mind the stupidity-based TV show called "Jackass..." or whatever it was. Self-destructive morons gone public.
:banghead:

You got that one right...!

There you go. Right on. Let's hope it doesn't happen.:D

I left a message at the KOBF-TV newsroom........ (unless we have some members in the New Mexico area who might know more intimately what's up down there with this case).......

or the bullet was teflon coated

Just for the sake of newcomers.

Teflon does NOT make a bullet able to pierce soft body armour ( or any other type for that matter). Just another urban legend.

NukemJim

What strikes me is that if he ends up paralyzed, our tax money will probably be supporting him for the rest of his life.......

Then again, if he's so moronic to ask to be shot, we probably would have been supporting him anyway.
