It's Hollywood's fault...
I was digging through my extensive VHS collection today and found a recording of LAPD SWAT team members demonstrating the "no man down" body armor that they wear.
For the .357 from point-blank, the guy shot himself in the chest!!!
However, when they broke out the .30-06, they strapped the vest to a clay torso... Hmmm, safety first! what a novel concept!
Either that or the guy was crazy enough to take a pistol round but not dumb enough to want for a rifle round to the chest...
No comparison between the "no man down" and a standard type 3A...
Maybe these guys were trying to emulate what I saw, seeing as to how there wasn't a "do not try this at home" warning tag line...
Too many hollywood movies misrepresent what a firearm can do...
I laugh at the people who think we should ban all violent movies, any movie that shows an actor smoking, and anything with a comedic vulgar word or obscene phrase... I agree in as much as that way, the only thing hollywood can screw up is Romance and Drama...
I've been shot by my friends with .177 BB's, 6mm airsoft, and too many to list all the various diameters of paintballs.
IT'S NEVER A FUN THING...
Unless I'm shooting back at them
I figure it like this;
It was NO accident and doesn't qualify as tragic. It was deliberate and illegal and deserves no different treatment than a guy who asks his buddy to run him over with the car and see if the airbag deploys...
At least they didn't wear the vest and try pot-shots at police officers until one shot back as a method for testing...
