Probably even if wet 4WD not mandatory - just that it is rather rough and uneven - so main concern probably is ground clearance.

What we can do is - anyone who may find clearance a problem - ferry them in a truck and they can leave car near the roadway. We can manage to work out something.

Sounds good, we drive a 99' Ford Taurus... not the coolest ride, but Im a practical kinda guy, it serves our needs just fine and thats all that matters, and it was cheap =)

Lets talk about Food.

I read something of a grill being available. I realize its a lil early, but ive been thinking about what to bring and what not to bring.. And since I dont have alot of gear to offer, Id like to offer my skills as a cook, (im the cook in this house, been cooking since I was 6 and come from 3 generations of chefs) id be honored to man the grill and whip up some good chow. I can prolly talk my lady into making some potato salad or sumthin, and I can supply some ground beef with my special seasoning combination, and perhaps some beer brats, buns etc. Just trying to get an idea on how many folks will be there and how much chow we will need.

Not a bad idea to plan!!!

caseydog and I were discussing this this evening at a club meeting - if no fire restrictions (dry weather deal) - then we should be able to use the existing permenent grill dealie - if that is not so easy, caseydog can bring up a gas grill .... so seems like we can fix up the cooking equipment one way or another.

As for food (second (no make that third) ;) - fave subject along with shooting) - yet to plan fully, and yet to really get a more final head-count but so far seems we may be having a dozen folks approx ... this would be a good workable number. Got to finalize more on that in coupla weeks or so.

As for food itself - well, Mrs caseydog has offered to maybe bring along some chicken but also - be useful if a few folks brought just a few dogs, burgers etc in their cool box ... such that when we get to cookin - there'll be plenty all round.

If you like cookin' - hey - doubt there'll be a rush to stop ya!! :D And a plate of potato sald always goes down well with any feasting!

So - thx for offer - but watch this space. In three weeks once numbers get more finite we'll make the plans more solid. :)

Well Erica already had to bake a batch of cookies for the local gun shop for a great deal I got from them so I'm sure we can make some cookies for you guys too :neener: .

Ok well I was just doing some procastinating from work and was looking through what I might want to bring. I was going for stuff people might not get to shoot to often and some stuff I haven't gotten to shoot lately (or at all!). So here's a tenative list:

M1 Garand
M1 Carbine
Mosin Nagant 91/30
Beretta Storm
Bubba'd and rebubba'd 1898 Krag
Armalite AR15
SKS
Stevens 62
Luger P08
Colt Mustang Pocketlite
Ruger MkII

Well that's it for now, if anyone knows I have something that they'll want me to bring let me know.

Hi Dave .........

Looks good. How's the old Krag doing? I cannot quite remember but that last late December shoot - wasn't there some prob? Probably wouldn't mind a few rounds thru that AR. Just remembered - got a few rounds of 30 for M1 carbine - picked em up at another shoot - must bring those then I can shoot em!

You know me - I'll probably load up way too much stuff - incl' hand cannons of course!

Later on ... be good if anyone has any specific requests - to mention same, tho I rather doubt when it comes to it - there'll actually not be an example of about any gun ever made! :D

mmm Cookies !!! Not gonna argue that !!

Chris: yea I was just trying to plan ahead a lil bit, and some chicken would be great, I can whip up my special BBQ sauce if yall want.

anapex: A few rounds thru that Garand, and a few thru that AR will earn you a very special burger =) hehe.

And if someone has a kel-tec P3AT id like the opportunity to try one. Ill even bring a box of .380

P3AT - can do! I'll have my Rohrbaugh R9 too as long as I remember.

As said - final plans are near three weeks ahead, then, once we narrow down head count, then we'll see who can bring what in their cool box! :)

Ahh kewl, didnt even know ya had one Chris.. tho I should have known lol... and yea as it gets closer we will know more.. Looking forward to this.. never gotten together with folks I dont know from the internet for a get together like this, should be fun ! :)

Nice list, anapex. Given what you have, don't know that I can contribute much to "cool factor." Will bring along a Rem 700 VSSF and some match ammo so folks can try punching holes "way out yonder." Can throw in a lever action in .44 mag and a Savage 24 .22mag/20 guage combo. Scoped SuperRedhawk might be fun, and I'll bring along a P32. Any value in bringing along a couple of .22s?

Looking forward to meeting y'all. Anyone coming from north of Pittsburgh who might like to share a ride? And count me in for a contribution to the meal. Could easily pick up a couple cases of soda (or pop, or whatever you call it where you come from) and put 'em on ice.

(Note to self: Buy ammo!)

Legionnaire - 22's always useful - in fact many a shoot, as light gets dim - finish up with a mega plink! :) Bring what you want of course but - I'll hazard a guess that even if we are not huge in personnel numbers - the hardware will be plentiful!

I am waiting to hear back from Beren - he did express some interest and IIRC is approx from Pitt - over time hopefully see if that is case and maybe you guys could meet and share part of travel. As ever, watch this space.

Ahh kewl, didnt even know ya had one Chris..

There's some words all who know Chris have uttered at one time or another !

As we got closer and get a better idea of a number attending I had planned to post discussing food. I'll take my gas grill up the night before and leave it there. I'll also bring a 5 gallon container of fresh water and some coolers , ice , etc.. As yet we're still tossing around food ideas here.

There is a large fire pit there , as long as the brush fire danger level isn't high at the time we could have a fire and possibly cook some "mountain pies". ;)

Ahhh yes , if you have a collapsible lawn chair or two , those of you that have room might throw them in. There is a picnic table there but it tends to get covered with guns and such. Not enough chairs there for all the shooting positions either. Also chairs are nicer if we do a sit by the fire.

I told the club 10am to ?? ,so as we get closer maybe y'all can speak up as to who thinks they'll be there for lunch and who thinks they'll be there for evening chow or both ,just so we get an idea of what we need for grub.

I'll defintely have:

Garand
STG58
CZ452
USP9
SA Mil-Spec

Can also bring:

Hi-Point Carbine
SKS
Savage 110....if anyone is pretty good with scoped bolt guns, I'd appreciate some help getting it dialed in
Ruger MkII
SW 2206

Can we do shotguns?

Paul - caseydog seems to have gotten extra well dialed in with his 22-250 but he or I would happily try and assist with your 110. Is it even on paper yet? Bore sighted? etc.

Shotguns?? Well - I rather think we'll have a full day just with other stuff. No thrower there tho I can have a cheapie hand thrower with me and if we had some clays I daresay we could scat a few (anyone got a few?). See what others think - guess we could have an hour's clay busting on a limited scale!

Chris,

I had the gunsmith mount the rings and scope for me since those 110's take those funky rings for the long action. He bore sighted it and Spot77 and I took it out for a try.

We had a no luck at 100 yards so took it in to the range office to double check the sight-in with the bore-sighter and it appeared to be correct.

After several shots at 50 yards, we finally got it coming on to paper......but shoulders gave out and we called it a day.

Funny thing: I started off using some fairly high priced ammo and ended up seeing the best accuracy from some LC69 stuff I got from CMP.
It was a little hard to chamber but shot much better than the Winchester I was using first.

Well - if now on the paper then should not be too bad - as long as scope has plenty of clicks spare. We can reach out to IIRC 500 at this range but daresay a good result at 100 followed by 200 would still cut the mustard! Just bring the LC69 ammo!

Norton: Ive got a Savage model 110 in 30-06 back home in Michigan, I dont claim to be any expert on scopes but be glad to help if you need a hand. I sighted in mine in about 40 rounds after having it mounted and bore sighted... was dead on at 150 yds and still getting tight groups out to 300.. I figured that was more than enough in the brush I was hunting in the U.P.

Well now! If we're doing shotguns I'm going to have to add some to my list! I have a spare case of pigeons from the last time I was in PA and I might be able to borrow a spring powered launcher. I'll probably bring the pigeons up anyway, that'll give us some sort of reactive target to shoot at.

Whhhoooo!! I smell clays! dave if you bring em that's great - whatever we do with em! :p

A spring launcher is good but - considering how much we may want to shoot thru the day - I'd doubt too much time should go to clays - and so even the ''plastic fantastic'' hand launcher would probably do.

A clays ''interlude'' tho sure could be fun ... so if folks bring a shottie and some ammo - we can decide on the day. Anyone can use my O/U if they want.

I have a new 28ga that needs broke in and a box of clays, but my car is restricted to on road use. I volunteer to help the chef.

David

Clays should be fine , as long as they go in the general "downrange" direction. Don't need to pepper any ATV riders out on the trails in the other directions.

Sounds like a chance to give my X2 a workout :D
