The thread on the possible Miami Vice "flub" got me thinking. Several years ago I saw a movie on TV where one of the investigators carried a Thompson/Center Contender. For the life of me, I can't remember what it was. Can anyone help?

It looked like an early-mid 1970s flick, possibly made for TV, and I *think* it starred James Garner as a private investigator. His associate carried the Contender, and made some comment about it being able to shoot through a city bus. The one thing that stands out in my mind is that towards the end when he actually shoots the Contender, I swear I hear him get off TWO rapid-fire shots.

All in all, it really was not a particularly good movie, but I remember it for that scene. I think it was a one word title. Any ideas?

I had a character in my book "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" tote one as a concealable (compared to a long rifle) urban sniping tool.

Are you kidding?! I LOVED Hard Target! I thought it was one of the best Van Damme movies ever made! Henriksen was great, and so was Arnold Vosloo, who played his henchman/right-hand man.

I think John Woo directed it. It was a gem! A great play on the "most dangerous game" theme.

In one episode of "In the Heat of the Night" with Carrol O'Connor, deputy 'Bubba' was in an isolated cabin with bad guy(s) after him. He finds a Contender in .44 mag and goes to battle. Does in multiple dudes with it IIRC.
