Hello!

I am a 29 year old male. I'm new here. I've been shooting my entire life.

I bought a PT145 Pro a few months ago. I loved the feel and I have always wanted a .45. I've been a GLOCK man for a few years now but I've shot many Taurus pistols and I have loved them.

Anyway, after a cleaning the gun I shot about 75 rounds through it. It stovepiped about 2-3 times. I was using Winchester FMJ plinking rounds. I figured I was limp wristing it. Then a few days later I went to chamber a round and the round got stuck! I was using Winchester FMJ hollowpoints. A few weeks later the same thing happened. The slide would not close and the round got stuck below the ramp.

Immediately I figured that the hollowpoints were the problem. So I took the pistol back out and shot another 50 rounds through it using plinking rounds once again. Yet again the pistol started to stovepipe. I also tried a buddy's blazer rounds and the same thing happened. Then guess what? A blazer round got stuck against the clip somehow and the slide once again would not close when I went to chamber it!

Now understand that I carry a GLOCK 27. I know a gun prone to misfeeding if not held properly. I assure you that at least on the 2nd 50 rounds, I was holding the gun tight and properly.

Should I send this thing off or just get rid of it? Has anyone had similar problems? I DO NOT TRUST this weapon anymore and it sits in my safe now collecting dust which is a shame. :(

My PT145 Mil Pro would not cycle WWB FMJ worth beans, but ate silvertips without fail...Go figure. the only difference was the bullet, but I'd get FTFs, FTEs and the occasional stovepipe with WWB. I never tried other types of ammo in it, and as long as it was reliable with the silvertips, which was and is, regardless of caliber, my only carry ammo, I didn't really care. Except given the cost of ST, I never used it as a tin can shooter...

PS...This pistol was picky about dirt. Unburned powder residue in the chamber could also be contributory. Mine was extremely accurate...Like 6"@60 yards (which for a DAO, I find rather astounding) accurate, and I think it might have had a close chamber.

Silver tips huh?

I'll go and buy some at lunch and try that thanks!

Does anyone know if I'd be better off trading this thing in? I paid $400 for it and it's got less than 150 rounds through it.

I'm thinking of just saving up for another glock. Something that I can trust. I just don't like the idea of a gun that jams with certain types of ammo.

Maybe a Sigma, or a Springfield XD. I dunno. I really want a Glock 19 or 26

150 rounds isn't much of a break in. I have a DAO PT145 MilPro and haven't had an issue with it. If give it 500 more rounds or so and if you still have issues, then trade it in.

Winchester White Box is cheap ammo...hard primer...worthless in my Mil Pro PT145.

Get good ammo and you will not have any more problems.

BTW...this ammo has been covered in Taurus Millennium Pro PT145 many many times in the past. Search is your friend. Seems like we keep re-inventing the wheel on this site over and over again.

Hello
Sell it to me I will give you $100.00 for that piece of crap. My PT-140 and PT24/7 have been 100% but I do not run crap ammo through them. Try some good ammo and you will be happy.

Don't be so weird, glove.

My mother has the same gun as the OP and it functioned perfectly on the WWB right out of the box.

Maybe have a gunsmith check it out for little flakes of metal left over from machining?
