I've currently have 2 tauri that go bang, a model 85 .38 snubnose that has been as reliable as a revolver should be, and a recently purchased 738 (TCP).
FWIW it is a little early in my mind to totally pass the autoloader as the 738 is in its break in period now. I initially cleaned the firearm thoroughly, over oiled, then fired about 50 FMJ then cleaned, over oiled, 50 FMJ, repeating until I've fired about 250 rounds, without any FTF or FTE. I am growing more confident with each range trip that this will be a reliable pistol.
Based on my experience with Taurus I would look at their products if I felt firearm fit what I wanted it to do for me. Do I think they make a .357 product as good as my S&W 686 for extended range time? I don't know. Do they make a firearm that will function very well as an often carried/practiced with, but fewer shots at the range gun? Yes, and for less money. YMMV
