I was lucky to pick up a second one online from the Black Dog Gun store. The new version comes without a safety. My son will be using the other one. Plenty of mags are available from GrabAGun online for $25 bucks. IMG_2610.jpg

I know Gunny did quite a good review of the TX22 and I think another thread comparing it to the G44. He also did a good review of the G44.

When I bought my Glock G44 a few months ago the only other semiautomatic that was available locally was the GSG Firefly (rebranded Sig Mosquito). Needless to say I went with the G44 over the Firefly. I have been very happy with it. I still wouldn't mind checking out the Taurus TX22 as long as the trigger is NOT anything like the old Taurus 24/7 pistols.
Here’s that review I did.

The barrel issues with the Taurus TX22 are a thing of the pass, unless you are buying a used one. Taurus found someone different to make their barrels.

When I bought my TX22, I didn’t want a run of the mill black one. I paid a little extra for the FED model. It’s a great gun.

My youngest, Isaac really likes the TX22.

Well I went gun store hopping for ammo and found a TX22 for $270. I hate the fact I had instant approval but since im still waiting for my CWP, I'll have to wait til next Sunday to get it. They had extra mags for $17, but when I got home I noticed the package said 10 rds. Debating on whether to try and return and see if they have the 16 rd ones or live with it. Kinda lost on why they'd even sell the 10rd ones in a state with no mag restriction

16 round mags are plentiful. About $21 bucks each. Checkout GrabAGun online.

Taurus offers them with or without the thumb safety, used to be able to get the one you preferred, but now...lucky to see one on a shelf.

My TX has proven to be a way better value than the G44. The TX will shoot almost anything, though mine doesn't seem to like CCI Quiet.

I haven’t found a 22 semiautomatic that likes CCI Quiet.

My brother has one and at the beginning hated it because to many jams. I found out he was shooting subsonic rounds and I told him that with subs many semi auto pistols won't cycle. He did not want to try regular minimags or standard velocities. It's yours if you wanted he said. I said okee dokie, shot 200 rounds of aguila and mini mags without a hitch. Later I knew he regretted it so I gave it back to him....after all he is my little brother. Congratulations on your purchase. Expect a range report.

My local Academy Sports had a FDE Taurus TX22 for $299. I don't know if that was a good price or not since it is the first one that I have seen in any of the local shops around me. I had to keep telling myself that I don't need another 22 pistol over and over again. My fiancé being there probably helped my will power.

. . .

I just purchased a TX22 and have the barrel issues. Taurus sent me a replacement barrel. Both the original and replacement barrels look like the bores where chiseled out by hand using dull chisels.

I still like the thing, feels great in the hand, a great trigger out of the box, ands eats just about any ammo.

LOL! The Emperor’s New Clothes

I am hoping that at some point someone makes a quality aftermarket barrel for the TX22 since Taurus can't seem to manage it. They got everything else right as far as I can tell.

I waited to buy one hoping the issue was sorted out.

Who were making their barrels before? If I didn't already have a M&P 22, I'd be in the market for one of these.

Piece of crap, ask any Taurus hater. They're so bad I bought two. Seriously a great .22. I'm something of a .22 handgun impulse buyer so I end up good and bad. The two TX22's are all good. Does excellent with any .22 ammunition. It won't out shoot my Ruger MKII or KadeT Kit, but an accurate fun plinker. .EnjoView attachment 931601 y!

Onions don't make me cry, Taurus making a better .22 than Glock makes me cry!

So if you purchase a firearm that has the worst made barrel ever seen in a 22 you're a hater
So if you purchase a firearm that has a slide that is so thin that they crack or break you're a hater
So if you purchase a firearm that has a recoil assemble that acts like a grinder you're a hater
So if you purchase a firearm that spends 4-5 months to be repaired and problems not solved, poorly designed parts are just replaced you're a hater.
So if you purchase a firearm that a firearm manufacturer knowingly sells to their customers with all the above problems you're a hater.
So if you try to bring to light how uncaring a manufacturer can be to fellow gun owners you're a hater.
GOT IT.

Taurus making a better 22 than glock, really. Take a good look at these two slides. Tell me which is made better.

Unfortunately, a lot of folks can't keep their singular bad experience in perspective. One issue becomes a global pandemic underscoring the end of the world as we know it.

I chose the Taurus over the Glock and would do so again.
Absolutely agree. One bad incident, and now the sky is falling!

Kind of silly to keep this going, I know. Pretty simple. If you think the G44 is a better buy, by all means get one. Do watch out for the first round FTF and the ejector flying off and the cracked frames and slides. This can happen with any firearm. It wouldn't stop me from buying a G44 if I liked the gun which I don't. I think it will be an also ran in the scheme of things. It just doesn't do anything better than a dozen other .22 semi-automatics. Just my opinion of course. The TX22 IS better. Not a Glock hater. The G21 is my second favorite .45 and the G17 does everything it's supposed to. I thing Glock seriously dropped the ball with the G44.

Photo of broken side is not my gun, just a fellow gun owner. Mine cracked. How many photos or posts would you like to see of Taurus TX22 broken slides. Picture above of the two slides is worth a 1000 words. Show me any other 22 slide that is that thin. I could replace the glock slide with any other brand and the difference would be the same. It's poorly designed period. Look how thin it is. If you think it's only 1 or 2 TX22's fine. My TX22 cracked after about 5000 rds. If you don't shoot your TX22 much chances are the slide will hold up. Good Luck

Statement made was that the Taurus is MADE better. If you like the Taurus better fine. I can replace the Glock with any other brand and not one other company makes the front of their slide paper thin. Of course no one mentioned bad barrels, terrible recoil assembly and absolutely the worst customer service.

It happens whenever Taurus or any budget priced gun is mentioned. You'll have the Sig, Glock, etc fanboys who aren't interested and who do not like the company is question who will do their best to derail a thread and try to tell everyone else they're pistol isn't worthy...
