I just heard on the tube last night that a married couple would get $1200 and a additional $300 for each child..... thats $2100. Damn right I'm buying a gun, maybe a big bore S&W revolver :D

pretty much everyone earning a paycheck will be given anywhere from $300-$1,200 from the federal government

Now wait a second. According to the link:

Rebates would go to people earning below a certain income cap, likely individuals earning $75,000 or less and couples with incomes of $150,000 or less.

So pretty much everyone earns less than $75K for an individual or $150K for a couple?

You'd be surprised how many make over those numbers.

As for my 'rebate', it's going to cover the check I have to write the IRS in April. Almost exactly. :banghead:

"So pretty much everyone earns less than $75K for an individual"

Depends on the definition of earns. There's taxable earnings and then there's non-taxable earnings. I assume the rebate is based on what shows up as reportable income on the tax form.

i know to a lot of you this is small potatos and you can just throw it where ever you want. but to a college kid, like so many other members on here, this is A LOT of money.

i cant wait to get a new gun:D

If this is a LOT of money to you, then perhaps saving it would be wiser than buying a new gun. Just some advice from someone who slept through college a few years back. Take it for what it's worth. :)

There is a bunch of stuff on my list - but then I saw the cap. Dagnabbit, between my wife and I, we are over the limit.

One irony is that by excluding middle class folks, the rebate excludes people who would save, invest, pay down debt or the like. My guess is that's intentional. It's pretty much aimed at folks who will run out and spend it the day they get it - the classic Bush solution - "spend like a drunken sailor".

Guess I'll have to keep saving for what I want. :)

Economy Stimulation 101

I'm getting another EBR.

1) That supports people from machinists to molders

2) supports shippers

3) ultimately makes money for the gunshop that ordered it

4) for years to come, it will stimulate ammo companies,

5) people in the news, the Brady bunch (trying to figure out how to outlaw it) and the NRA trying to help me keep it

6) politicians - it gives them something to argue about.

7) puts people in the gun cleaning product industry to work too.:neener:

Cash the check, put the cash in an envelope somewhere safe.

Keep it there for 6 months.

There's nothing saying I can't.

Seeing how I have a son I should get a lil extra

Thoughts so far are:

1st AR

or

Khar MK9

or

Bills

or

save it for next year when i file and they hit me up for it.

I'll probably windup splitting it, some on an AR(I'll foot the rest),some on a bill and the rest on something for the son

From the Government's line of credit to my debt. I am just a middle man.
