Whether you like his style or not the Nuge has been speaking out for gun rights. It seems that may be catching up with him. Gun control groups pressuring venues he plays at to cancel his act. Whatever you think about his music/politics, he is on our side and we should be aware of what's going on so we can back him.

“All things being equal I wouldn’t bring in a guy who is aggravating people, that is not my intention,” said Mike Mori, The Blade’s sales director, who runs the Rib-Off, in an interview with Media Matters. “It seems like this thing has kind of ballooned in the last couple months. I will probably think long and hard about inviting him next year.”

This isn't in Activism because I don't really have a plan, just thought I'd share the news and if you're in an area that he is scheduled, maybe drop a line of support to the people running it.

Uncle Ted is spot on with most of the stuff he says in my opinion... He is just "in your face" truth and most people don't like that... I love his views and his music!!!

Nugent was a draft dodger and used various means to get out of duty.he has no credibility.I do not want people like him spaeking for my rights.

I enjoy listening to some of his interviews. He is to me like I think Pierce Morgan is to the gun control crowd. :D

Nugent was BSing High Times in that interview and the details (dates etc) in that tall tale don't pan out.

interesting Byron. I will take anyone speaking for me. He can draw 40,000 people in 10 minutes and you are typing to 9 people. dunno let me think about it.

The problem with Ted Nugent and his "style" is that it's ultimately another case of someone foaming at the mouth while preaching to an equally mouth-foaming choir.

The long term survival of hunting and shooting is going to rely on new people picking up these activities. The Ted Nugent types don't exactly come off as welcoming.

i think ted nugent is spot on in whatever he says i know we live in the age of putting things gently and stuff..however sometimes you just say what needs to be said and he does...i just wish he didnt get hated on for standing up for what he thinks is right.

Yes, they are both the flower of their respective families: blooming idiots. :banghead:

I tend to concur with Byron: as a spokesperson, he has little to no credibility outside of the pro 2A community (for various reasons) and is not someone who is representative of my interests on much of anything other than 2A. In public relations, for better or worse, image is everything and most people we need to reach don't even try to separate the man from the message.

I wish the 'nuge would go away and be replaced with a person of style and class who can convey a message without looking like a complete idiot.

All the anti's have to do is point to that idiotic s.o.b. and say "see, I told you... they're all crazy". They meaning us.

Maybe he strokes your inflamed sense of righteousness about the attack on 2a that we endure, but he's certifiable, and personally I see him as a curse.

Having met him personally, and talked with him at length, I can verify that there is definitely a "stage persona" and a "real Nugent" - and the two are not at all alike.

I actually had tea with the guy and a nice, long, shockingly mellow conversation. He's real down to earth and not at all like he is on TV, when you're sitting down alone with him. :)

He did.. um.. get a little 'handsy' with my wife, though. (She didn't exactly complain...)

That is not at all surprising or excuse his words and actions elsewhere. Even some of the most heinous people in history are like that.

Not me...I want people with credibility speaking on our behalf and Ted Nugent just doesn't project that. The liberals don't care about their credibility but even they expect us to be. Plus...the ones that need to see us as credible are the ones that vote on the laws.

I've spoken with a former Houston City attorney and recent mayoral candidate that has had Bill Clinton as their overnight house guest and he said Bill Clinton is incredibly charming and can charm friend or foe into sincerely enjoying his company. But that doesn't make me want to have Good Ol' Bill as a SCOTUS justice.

Nugent the Entertainer publicly called the President of the United States a "subhuman mongrel." He certainly has that right. And having exercised that right he, like the Dixie Chicks, can suffer the consequences.

I don't see how any of it helps the 2A fight.

Really....so he's intentionally acting like an inflammatory idiot simply to raise his public image? So he can act and speak intelligently and eloquently....just not in public when he is "advocating" for everybody's 2a rights and serving himself up some free publicity?
Great. Now I REALLY don't want him advocating for me since I feel he is essentially riding the 2a via sensationalism for his own exposure.
