These are the shorts, the slacks are the identical pocket layout.
The zipper can be left open for quick access or securely closed for more rigorous activities.

As the official porn star, er (darn it) pollster, those lines really got my attention until I read the following lines after that, and realized you were referring to pocket zippers.

Nem. Stop, stop, you are killing me. :D

"Wear your regular-fit Columbia Men's Lander Pant for casual Fridays around the office, to watch the ballgame at the bar with the guys, or to...wear around the studio."

I wouldn't have a chance to wear the Car's about two weeks a year in the SE, as you well know.

Here is a link at REI for the Lander's. They run true to size and are a "relaxed" fit. If anything they run just a hair large.

Good Shiv or Flashlight Pocket Too mid thigh.

Here they are at Cabela's for $20. REI $30. I think I paid $20 at Gander. Should be a good supply on the trousers with winter coming on.

1 BlINDREF: Nice sixty fo sho. That thing is bordering on phat. Just don't hold it sideways and holler "yo, yo" and you should be ok.

Well guys, My new CS40 arrived today :) It's going to take it's place with my 642 as extra firepower. You know...it's a real shock how much heavier a sub compact autoloader is compared to one of these airweight revolvers. It really makes me appreciate the 642. I do like the flatter shape though...and the higher power delivered; greater than 1150fps on a 155gr round from this length barrel - greater than 1300(!!!)FPS on a 135gr round. Just gotta get my 642 back from the gunsmith again now ;) - and whaddya know, he just called :) Wee!

DAdams - those are great pictures. Thanks for posting :) I need to get one of those holsters. I'm planning on pocket carrying the 642 and getting a holster rig for the CS40 + 1 mag. Left hand on the 642, right on the CS40. I really like how you retain a pocket on the side you're carrying on with those pants. Thanks for the information. Are they comfortable in 90+deg heat?

Those CS 40s are sweet. I like the "look" and are quite different than the run of the mill basic black autos out there these days. How much does it weigh? I'm too lazy to check on the S&W site.

The Columbia Landers are 100% cotton. I would say mid weight, I don't own any cottons that are lighter. A bit on the casual side, probably cooler than the cotton/poly Dockers or Savanes which I usually wear. I'm still a pleated and cuff guy for most business wear.

Greetings!

Greetings THR and 642 club members!

Long time lurker, first time poster and wanted that first post to be about my favorite carry gun. My 642 is my most common off-duty concealed carry gun. Great combination of size, power, concealability and reliability. And, even in this day and age, if the situation calls for covering a bad guy before the constables arrive, a revolver still says "off duty LEO" effectively.

Thanks to all psoters on such great ideas on ammo, pocket holsters etc.:)

Headless - Very nice, I guess that's about a close to a "snubnose auto" as you can. I like it.

The Law - Welcome to the club. I think you will find you have made a great choice. Happy to have you here.

The Giant Skunk - It's about time! Welcome to the 642 Club, you're right about the 642 as a CCW or back-up. It just does not get any better. It seems the j frames just get better with age.

Lurkers - Come on into the clubhouse and say Hi!

And I picked up S&W 442 .38 Special +P today.
$425 for the gun, $220 for the CT grips.
And I love it!!! Now I only have to go shoot it :what:

cartman - awesome. What a sexy beast. Sometimes i wish i got a 442 instead of my 642 :( Quit tempting me; the girlfriend really likes the 642 so I need very little of an excuse to give her mine and get a 442 ;) Though...i think i'd go 340PD :D

DAdams - thanks for the info - all cotton should be good; I can't stand poly in FL - I grew up in rural Cork (wanna see what happens to a disarmed culture? look no further than Ireland...the brits sure didn't mind though. Gives me a real appreciation for my right to bear arms.) and the FL heat drives me crazy... being a big guy doesn't help me either - something about blubber being an insulation or something ;)

Empty, the CS40 weighs 23 ounces - 8 more than the 642. Not too bad, but definately noticeable. With ammo the difference is more pronounced as .40S&W cartridges add up quickly and you've got 8 in this gun rather than 5. Don't have a scale that can weigh above ~1.5lb so i can't tell the difference loaded yet. The grip is very 'long' in the sense that the backstrap is very thick rubber (which i'm sure i'll appreciate when i feed it some doubletap +P at 515ft/lb's) but seems to fit my hand well. Compared to the stock 642 grips it would be bigger. With my hogue grips they are actually VERY comparable in size. They both fit in my uncle mikes size 0 holster easily. Single stack is the kicker - the gun is noticeably 'flatter' than the 642 due to the lack of a cylinder. It really feels like the semiauto sister of my 642. The CS9 (mm) is a bit lighter too, at ~21 oz, and slightly smaller ...it'd be just about an exact match for the 642 size-wise. Having the option to add tritium night sights was a huge factor; i've never been totally comfortable with my 642 as my carry due to the high likelihood that i'd need it in the dark if i ever did and the lack of night sites available without having the front sites milled down... I like the extra capacity too. Oh lord, what have I DONE!!!

Someone hold me, my wheelgun is looking at me with vicious jealousy in her eyes...

eric.cartman - Excellent choice! Welcome to the club. Enjoy. We are happy for you and to have you here with us.

Headless - You are doing this on purpose. Those are gratuitous photos and I am reporting you to the Sergeant At Arms as soon as I have time.... now, let's see, S&W CS40, Qty 1, Add to shopping cart....

Congrats to all the new members and owners of the 642. You picked a great little gun. I also have the CTC #405's and love them. I will soon get them for my 442 too.

Too late, JT.

The Sergeant at Arms has already gone over to the dark side
with gratuitous photos of large caliber air weight revolvers.

It's just a matter of time until a semi-auto joins his ranks, too.

:p

But I gotta agree: Cartman, those 442 are just plain sexy.

Hey, I am looking for some crimson trace Laser grips for my 642, but all I ever see are the extended grip ones, and I like the size of the stock grip- it is already a total *****cat to shoot, even +P.

anyone got a link to a good, cheap, and reliable source for the short grip ones?

Edit: the software doesn't allow me to say Pu$$ycat? :D

Headless, your pic of the CS with the 642 laying on top is very telling; I didn't realize the CS was that compact. Probably not pocket carry but would be a good belt carry. May have to look ar one next time I am at Vances

Blows whistle, brings baton down on table with a mighty whack. "Order in the Clubhouse."

"Headless' bottom feeder isn't the first, and it won't be the last SemiAuto amongst our ranks. Lest ye w/o sin be the first to cast ah, umh,..empty, discarded Buffalo Bore .38 spl shell casings. Just find joy in the fact that it is a brethren S&W and not some heathen entity from another shore."

 I resemble that remark.

"Whatch you talkin about Willis?" oh....these. "Who Me?"
I'll sit in on the diversity training too. Guess it hasn't sunk in yet.

Wait till you see the next buy. I'm keeping it a secret, so don't even think about guessing.

Headless,

Get the laser grips and there is no need to worry about night sights. The bullet will follow the little red dot.

*whispering* Now tell me about the little auto. Does it have a huge kick? Does it bite the hand that feeds it? Is it DA and SA?

Here is a picture of my club violation:

Holydoc for Educational Purposes Only

Being the open minded inquiring individuals we are and just to make sure we (still) have the best it is ok to introduce new friends to the group, despite their physical deformities :D It's hard to be humble when you are a X42, you know.

That is a nice Sig to be sure. How about a for size comparison picture or two. NIB? Overlay etc. How much does the Sig weigh and how do you plan to carry it? How did you get turned on to it?

Nice shooting and thanks for stopping by, haven't seen you around in awhile. Everything ok?

cvpi

cpvi71, you have a nice lineup of carry pieces going on there. 442 is a nice looker and would be a great addition to the collection. I actually wanted a 442 when I bought the 642. All they had was a 642 so I took it. Just couldn't wait any longer. I needed something to carry quick.

How does that Seecamp work for you. I like the looks and size of them, don't know about the .32 business although there are some Airweight afficianados with .32 wheelers. Is it fussy on what you can put through it? How does it handle JHPs and what is the max grain rating?

DAdams-

You are insane! :D I really have to spend more time reading this thread.

Holydoc-
Thanks for posting a classy "bottom feeder"
