Hawthorne2k, that's an interesting "original" CZ-75 as it has the new style slide release. I also note that the dust cover recess cut is like the 75B and the trigger isn't tapered like the earlier pistols. Does it have any other 75B features such as the firing pin block? I wonder if there were transition CZ-75's that combined features of the original with those of the as yet unreleased 75B? What style was the original hammer on your pistol.... spur or rowel? While your picture isn't clear, the slide markings seem to be slightly different too.

I did a comparison of my 1981 original with a new 2009 75B that you can use to note the differences between yours and the earlier originals. The thread is here: http://www.czforumsite.info/index.php?topic=25803.0

Please look yours over and tell us about the differences. It should be interesting.
The hammer was spurred, and I believe it doesn't have a firing pin block (though I am the furthest thing from what you would call a gunsmith. :D) . I bought it used, so the slide release may have came from the original owner, though it is one of the last pre-B's: It reads "A90" behind the ejection port and the serial number is in the 89XX range, so it may very well have some transition parts.

MrRevolverguy,

1st off, for $400.00, you stole that blued CZ. Blued models are hard to find. You also have the early model without the slide serrations on the front of the slide. Your's also has a gap between the magazine butt plate and the bottom of the grip frame, another "early" model indicator.

Something I have noticed frequently with the 97; everyone talks about how heavy it is, when in reality, it's only an ounce or 2 heavier than a forged frame 1911. The main reason for the lack of perceived recoil is the grip size; it distributes the recoil over a greater area of the hand when compared to a 1911. Your mag should only hold 10 rounds; I have never heard of a 12 round mag for the 97.

Sights, grips, hammer, springs, recoil spring guide rod, are some of the mods you can perform on the 97. Sights for the 75 fit the 97, same for the competition hammer, hammer springs, trigger, and other parts.

Welcome to the cult of the 97

I'm told that Sp-01 sights will work on the 97B, not so sure that 75b sights will.

I own 4 CZ pistols and 3 CZ rifles. You can spend more money on a gun but you won't get more gun for your money.

Just sent off the money order for a CZ-52 today....I'll post again once I'm an official CZ owner.

Also trying to decide whether to trade my Sig P226 for a P-01....

circuitspore,

I've had several Sigs, all were great. I had a West German 226/9 and 226/40. They just never fit me like a CZ. I have since sold them both.

I still have a P-220/45 and I like it, but I rarely shoot it. I nearly always pack my CZ-97, in fact when I don't take the 97 to the range, I start missing it while I'm shooting something else. This 97 fits me like a well worn glove.

for some reason this is still an unknown at the cz forum as the topic comes up from time to time, but figured i'd mention this here too... the 20 round 75 TS magazines are not compatible with the rest of the 75/85 series... the mag well on the TS is wider meaning the mag is larger and will not fit the other models. i bought one and found this out myself.

hello guys, anyone looking for a 9mm barrel for their CZ52? Got one for sale and includes the roller cam, pin, roller locks and a new 16.5 spring. These parts are ready to drop in your gun. I put about 100rds thru the barrel, still looks new! Anyone interested? let me know.....Jaime

just got my first cz (and first handgun).

i'm amazed with the ergos, the feel of it, control locations, weight, etc.

my only gripe, which is killin it for me right now, is that the slide stop is excessively hard to operate sometimes. bout half the time it is like butter, the other half of the time the slide is resting to hardly on the stop that i can't push the lever down to release the slide. i'm a pretty big guy w/ strong hands, so i see it as a huge problem if i'm going to expect my girlfriend to be able to use it as well.

i'm going to take it to the range on wednesday, if it doesn't improve i'm thinking of taking it back and trading up for a cz-75 or maybe a rami if i can find one.

The CZ handguns that I own/have owned all had slide stops that were tough to operate when a magazine was inserted. I'm right handed and always use my left thumb to release the slide stop.

well, i know what you mean, b/c i've handled a few other CZs..., but this is on a different level. my thumb is damn near raw just from a little handling, and it was practically impossible a few times to manipulate a few times no matter how much force. i don't mind having to slingshot the slide, i'd rather anyways. having to slingshot the slide AND push the stop isn't acceptable though.

well guys, learned a harsh lesson bout restocking fees, but i had that P07 for less than 24 hours. that slide stop was a huge deal breaker for me, along with a couple other things i didn't notice while i was handling in the store.

traded it in today, now i have this:

Sadly, I must "resign" from the CZ club. :( I never found one that really suited me, mostly due to mechanical problems. My P-07 worked great, however I just couldn't get comfortable with it. I'll just stick to Hi Powers. Now, if I could just change my user name....:uhoh:

However, are the Pre-B 75 models made of different materials........you know, steel instead of alloys?

I've been a member for a number of years, but just picked up three new in box P-01's from an auction for gunshop that folded up. I have no idea what I'm going to do with three more though! Hopefully I can talk a couple friends into taking them off my hands for my cost. Darn impulse buys!

Diyj98--So Jealous!!!! I'm working on talking the SO into letting me get a P01 or SP01 (haven't decided-but I hate the Phantom).
