I never claimed to be above anyone else... But I DO recognize a con job when I see one! And making the things prettier while STILL not fixing the problem IS a con job!!If you dont believe that then I would SERIOUSLY like to sell you a house.. or twenty.. Just let me paint them first LoL!

Look man, Im not, and never did, try to come off as a super expert, I know what I know and I know Im not about to pay extra for a gun that I have to turn right around pay half again to fix right out of the box! Hell I wouldnt do that even if I COULD afford it.

That being said, Im also not about to be talked down to and flamed and not say anything back... ESPECIALLY when your only argument is "Well it doesnt bother ME, so it had damn well BETTER not bother you either!"

Get real man. If YOU have money to waste on those sort of shenanigans then more power to ya... But Id be willing to bet a sizable number of us have better things to do with our hard earned retirement then toss it around like that...

Thing to do is learn how fix yourself. I did, we ain't talking rocket science here. I started following things the goon was saying and also picked up a copy of a shop manual he recommended. I have fixed two ASM pieces and tuned the actions. I kinda enjoyed the experience. Hey Stormson, ex pat was taking a poke at Craigc same as I was. Shoot man we was tired of his nonsense and trying to help you out.

No one can point out where I've made a personal insult in this thread, because it never happened. However, I have been called a know it all, self righteous, a jackass and a total ass. It's been implied that I'm dim-witted and ignorant ("much less well informed"). Not to mention all the condescending rhetoric about how Stormson is the only one who actually uses his guns. That the rest of us just sit in front of the TV and play with them. All because I don't agree with his dramatic, irrational tirades about arbor fit, nor do I think it is appropriate to this thread??? One would normally have to watch Jerry Springer to see such overblown, exaggerated drama.

"You've obviously made up your mind that anyone who disagrees with you is a moron. To be throwing around "know it all" and "self righteous" (and that is you).
.....You have stated you don't call names. Guess what? See above.
Reading comprehension is obviously a lost art. You see, in this context, I would be the moron.

CraigC, you have obviously decided you are at least a tier above the rest of us.
How do you figure that? I believe you need to go back and re-read Stormson's posts.

I know that bro.. And I appreciate it! My point is that we shouldnt HAVE to. Especially when paying X amount over and above Piettas that actually DO work.. I mean... WHY? If the "lowly" Pietta can actually FIX the problem, without having to paint them prettier and prettier in order to "cover it up", then why cant THEY??? I would be MORE then happy to pay the extra, hard as that may be for me, for an Uberti that actually WORKED. But to pay that and THEN have to pay Goon or have toake time AWAY from grandbabbies in order to make something work that SHOULD have worked in the first place, something that even the "lower" companies have been able to do... Well, its just incomprehensible to me as ANYTHING other then a TOTAL con job.

As for CriegC... I know you guys agree... Sorry if I seemed that I didnt. Guys got my damn dander up LoL and I guess it seems Im not the only one. Shrugs... I was man enough to admit lossing my temper, but having already read below it seems Im the only one. Ahain, shrugs, I give two sh1ts right? He has his ideas and I have mine. ONE of us has to be man enough to walk away and from what Ive seen itll HAVE to be me, after all, he can DO wrong.

Sorry if I came off like I was disagreeing with any of you guys who can obviously see whats going on.. I really didnt mean to.

You absolutely did. You speak as though you're the only one who actually uses these guns. You state in explicit terms that those of us who own and enjoy these guns are just suckers. If there's a high horse in this discussion, you're riding it. No one is talking down to you but you have an axe to grind and a chip on your shoulder, that is obvious.

Gimme a break. If you think you're going to buy a perfectly fitted, perfectly timed, perfectly finished, perfectly function revolver for $300, you're delusional. Guess what? Buy a brand new Colt SAA for $2000 and see if it doesn't need an action job. Buy a brand new $800 Ruger and see if it doesn't have a 10lb trigger with six feet of creep, throats that need reaming or finish work that needs to be touched up. Buy a brand new Uberti or Pietta single action cartridge gun and see if it doesn't have some tuning that needs doing. Hell, buy a $3000 Freedom Arms and ask how much they charge for a trigger job. I just spent $500 getting a new Single Six tuned and fitted with new grips. Fact is, nothing is perfect and everything can use improvement, no matter how much you spend. Sorry but all this crap costs money. You can suck it up and spend it, whether it's to make something nicer or closer to what you want or to fix MINOR issues that need fixing and enjoy it. Or you can gripe and complain about something you can't do anything about. Personally, I'd rather be enjoying and USING my guns than complaining about them. Some folks just want to complain. Others just look for a justification to not do something they weren't going to do anyway, I assume you're one of the two.

Not to mention that if you do any of that stuff with a modern cartridge gun, you're going to be out $100-$200 for shipping. Percussion guns can be shipped UPS ground for cheap.

Don't presume to know anything about anyone's financial situation but your own, or that any of us are "wasting" our money. I didn't get to where I am by being a dumbass. Forrest Gump was a fictional character. You may think I'm a fool for spending what I do on my guns or that those of us who buy these things are being "conned" but I'm far more invested in this than you are and I'm happy. You clearly, are not.

The very last thing I have to say to you on this thread, and I hold no ill will as life is JUST too short man, is that I paid EXACTLY $300 from Taylors for my 1860 snub nose. It was worked over by the smitthy before it was sent out, so it took a few days.. In fact EVERY Taylors is. 10lb trigger pull? That damn thing will go off if you LOOK at it crocked... It is timed better then ANY BP gun revolver that i have EVER seen, and I have shot quite a few that arnt mine.

That being said, i also have a so called "G&G" thats actually in .44... So not REALLY. Its a kit gun and you can tell whoever put it together didnt even TRY. All the tooling marks are still there in the outside, and it has a trigger/bolt spring that was HAND CUT out of SOME scrap piece of springy steel. Guess what? It locks up tight as a drum and it still timed perfectly.

BOTH of them hit EXACTLY where they did BEFORE I cleaned them and NEITHER of them have ever failed me any way. The 1860 is a BEUTIFUL gun.. The "G&G" looks like a piece of crap and still shoots almost as well, though IT actually DOES have a crappy trigger pull... Around a whole 5-6lb pull.

Look.. Im GLAD youre happy with them. But God only KNOWS what you must have put into them to be that way... and if you havent put anything into them, that you shouldnt have HAD to, all I can say is I hope you dont TRUST them... They are GOING to fail you at SOME point. Murphy is alive and well on both the battlefield and the hunt... I truly hope you dont find that out the hard way.

Now.. Im FINISHED with this.. its pretty frigging ridicules, dont you think? Well.. I dont really care what ya think, if you agree fine, lets call a truce before we both get tossed outa here... And if not then thats fine too.. either way im done with this.

Peace.

Hey Stormson, that guy seems to live for rankling folks. You should see some of his earlier posts to other threads. He gets downright rude and apparently his opinion and way of doing things is the only way and to hell with anyone who thinks or does things differently. Yet he doesn't seem to be aware of just how offensive and ridiculous he is with some of the stuff he spouts. Look at his earlier posts to this thread and see how he does this.

EVERY forum has one bro.. They aint hard to spot LoL!

The last thing I will say on this thread, unless a real need presents itself, is something I SHOULD have said a long while back,

Daboyleroy, man I am SO sorry for having highjacked your thread. I never meant to. All I wanted to do was toss my hat in the ring and give MY two cents about a company I feel is ripping people off for no reason. You through out some INCREDIBLY cool stuff ALL the time man.. And THESE would have been cool too if only had been made by a company that cared about its customers... Actually they ARE still cool.. Like everything else you post, just not for using is all...

Im not the first person to have said this about Uberti... By far. And Im sure they monitor these forums.. They JUST dont seem to CARE how customers feel, or even worse how those who WOULD be customers feel. Shrugs.. I guess they just dont need the money of those who WOULD by from them but dont.. Again, Im not the only one.

Anyway... All I wanted or meant to do was state that opinion about a COMPANY in general... A sad state of affairs for both company and potential customers... But when I did, well, you know the rest. Please know that it was never my intent and I have the utmost respect for what you do around here...

What it really comes down to is production, production, production. When you have a large number of machinery and staff turning out large volumes of product even the smallest change means a huge interruption in the flow of product, plus getting said staff to implement the changes.

daboyleroy, lots of great information. Thanks for posting it! Sorry to see things got a little sideways here. But I would like to put my two cents in.
I've never owned a Uberti. I've read a lot of posts about this issue with them though. But, I'm a firm believer in buying what you like and enjoy. I like my Piettas and ASM's for various reasons including price. However, others have strongly voiced their opinions against both of them before. That's ok with me. Every ones entitled to their opinions. Myself, I have no opinion on the Uberti's because I have no experience with them.
Like I said above. No matter what brand you own, if you like them that's all that matters.

Give it a break guys. Go get some range time and stop flinging poo at reach other.
