There's an ad for one locally to me. $350. I've read that the trigger pull is atrocious. I've also read that if it weren't for the trigger (which sits above ten pounds or something) it would be an alright shooter. I've also seen a few fixes for the trigger online that are easy to do (so easy a Caveman can do it).

The 9VE is supposed to be the "new" line. I'm looking for owners of the 9VE, ONLY THE 9VE, to hear they're experience.

For you "I must post because he's talking about the Sigma series but I don't actually own one I just want to rip on it" guys: There are also EAA EZ9 and EZ40 for around the same price. Would you recommend them over the Sigma? Why?

That's a bit high for a Sigma, to be honest. My LGSs are on the high end for prices nationally, and you can still get a NIB Sigma for $300.

They are better than the Sigma. The trigger is hard, but usually smooth. Still, when it releases, there is a tendency to pull the gun to the right (right hand shooter) since all the tension you were pulling back just disappeared. An over-travel stop might fix this without changing the pull at all.

I had a 9VE for some time, it was a good pistol, never malfunctioned, didn't fail for the previous owner either, who is a friend of mine. The trigger was pretty bad, but the grip felt great, and it was extremely easy to carry despite being a 16+1, 4" service pistol. And it was dependable, so I carried it quite a bit. Did not do the trigger job on it, but if I had I probably wouldn't have sold it.
When I sold it I had two other dedicated 9mm pistols in the same size range, and a 9mm conversion barrel for a Glock 27 as well, plus a couple of .40 pistols, so it sort of stopped having a niche for me.

I've had mine for several years with never a problem. The trigger gets better with use and it isn't nearly as bad as the bashers say. Feels like a double action revolver. It is as reliable as my Glock and field strips the same. Good reliable pistol that is very close to the Glock 19 in size. $350. is on the high side. They go from $299. to $329. here and S&W has a $50 rebate or two magazines going right now. Can't beat it for a good pistol.

I have had my 9VE for a couple of years now, did the trigger jobs as described in many posts online. Trigger pull is about 1/2 of what it was new. I just used it in a fighting pistol class because I wanted to check its reliability and accuracy. Using 1/2 case of steel case Russian ammo, I had no failures of any kind. Accuracy was as good as my M&P full size, but my times were a bit slower due to the longer trigger pull. For the money, I think it is a great gun. I use mine for a CCW and car gun because if it gets stolen, or confiscated, I'm only out $250.00. I give up nothing in accuracy and dependability over any other gun I have.

I have the 40VE and also did the trigger jobs posted online. It helped a little, but is still pretty firm. That's okay with me, because it doesn't have a safety. I paid $299 for mine new in box and regularly see them for that price still. Are there a lot of better guns out there? Yep, but not for $300 IMO.

I have a couple and have been very happy with them. Free trigger job makes it a lot nicer for a target gun. As is, its a great Self Defense, Backpack, Truck gun IMO.

I bought an SW9VE about 3 years ago. The trigger pull was long, hard, and gritty. I stripped it, removed the seer, removed the pigtail spring from the pivot pin, polished the seer surfaces and reassembled. World of difference. Lightened the trigger pull by about 1/2, and smoothed it out completely. It has become my every-day carry piece (and I own 1911A1s, H&Ks, SIGs, M&Ps, etc.). I understand that Smith will now do the trigger mod free if you complain about it.

In my opinion the best bang for the buck available on the market today.

i own not 1, but 2 sigmas the 9ve and the 40ve, when i first try the .40 i liked so much that i got the 9mm, sure the trigger is hard BUT that's an easy fix if you don't like it that heavy, i think is great because i don't spend an all day at the range shooting 1000 rounds... i may go through 50-150 rounds just be in good shape and practice my reaction/reloading/aiming time.

the sigma is one of the best gun i have ever fire, the trigger for me it's great. once you practice with it, you'll find it way better than what you read on the internet.

overall.... i say a sigma is a glock-19 with a heavy trigger....

The revive an old thread:

I just put a 9VE on layaway (when you have three kids and a wife in school this is the only way to buy guns). No, I'm not planning on carrying it, or using it as a home defense gun. I have plenty of guns already, and they are more expensive and more refined than the 9VE. So, why buy the 9VE?

Simple. I am the first to admit that I have been a Sigma hater. That hate was based on the older generation of pistols, not experience with the 9VE. So, I want to see how it does. I'm going to shoot it, a lot. I'm going to record any malfunctions or other problems. I might shoot a IDPA match or two with it. I want to see what kind of gun one can really get for $299 (what I am paying) and then get a $50 rebate or two free magazines on top of it. I like S&W, so I'm hopeful. However, if the gun turns out to be trash, I'll say so. On the other hand, if the gun turns out to be great, I'll say that too.

I really like the grip, and being mostly a revolver shooter lately, the trigger doesn't bother me. So, we shall see.

i have the 40VE and carry it EVERY day, ive personally put atleast 10Krnds through it all different brands of ammo and have NEVER had a FTF/FTE. i removed the pigtail spring and clipped one coil off the trigger spring and now the pull is about 8lbs and breaks like a glass rod.

i got mine for $350 (i know i got raped by the pawn shop) but i sent in my reciept (even though i got it used) and got the 2 spare 14rnd mags.

now my local pawn shop has the LEO mags 10rnds for $8 each. so ya ive stocked up on those.

i love this gun, and i use a Grandfather Oak kydex IWB holster and i forget its there. great carry settup right there.
