The ONE gun you really regret selling....

About 1990 or so I traded a Charter Arms AR-7 for a 720K floppy disk drive. (Floppy drives were worth $100 or so then, and the AR-7 didn't cost me much more than that when I'd bought it some years earlier.)

Guns hold their value much better than computer parts.

A Nazi era P-38. Had a chamber so rough that you'd occasionally have to shoot it to unload it, but it was (amazingly) a tack-driver, and utterly reliable. If i knew then what I know now, I would have lapped the chamber and still have it.

Minty M1 Carbine (Quality receiver and Rockola barrel) I paid all of $125 for at a gunshow. And what pisses me off more is what I sold it for: so I could buy a Mini-14. Man, it hurts to type this. The Mini (a true POS) lasted less than a year before it got sold, too.

I gave away a Model 13 round butt, but as a present, so I shouldn't really regret that (but I do). I also did something stupid that got my Belgie BHP stolen, and I regret being stupid.

There are two that make my heart sick eveytime I think about them. One was a Inland M1 Carbine in excellent condition, and the other was a Colt 1903 Hammerless in LNIB condition made in 1930. Excuse me while I go get some Kleenex................:(

It's a toss up between these two.....

Colt Mustang, blued in 99% condition, I bought it from a FFL friend of mine for $400. This was a little after Colt went "out of business". I just had to have a Kel-Tec P32, so I sold it for $375. Makes my stomach hurt everytime I think about it.

SW model 38- it wasn't in the best shape, but I bought it for $200 just to have a small concealable revo. Traded it plus cash about a year later for a 642. The 642 is nice, but I miss that 38.

I fel yer pain. Had a HK91 I got for $400 in about 1987 that I STUPIDLY sold for about $800 in '93 to try to save a condo from foreclosure when I was out of work. Still lost the condo, and now can never replace the HK unless I leave Kalifornistan and move to America - and even so it would cost twice what I got for it then.

Ah well,, I've come to love my M1A anyway.

:neener:

Hah, I've never sold one. My wife keeps telling me that if I want more guns I'm going to have to start selling some, but I just know that I'll regret it. So, I sacrifice and keep them all. I've loaned some out, and considered selling, but never have.

I regret having traded a sweet stainless S&W 629 .44 mag. for a BHP clone(FEG P9R).At the time I wanted the capacity.I know I lost on the deal, even at the time, but now I wish I hadn't done it.I very much like the 9mm,and it shoots great, but the S&W was my 1st revolver and I shot it well too.
OH WELL,won't be getting rid of any more, ever.

I'm with Red_SC on this one, because to date I've never sold or traded a single firearm - not one. Oh I've thought about, no denying that, but have never followed through because I once sold something else and have bitterly regretted it ever since. Turns my stomach sick. :(

I'd rather eat only once a day or forego spending money on another project in order to acquire new firearms than sell or trade one of the pieces in my collection.

Of the guns that i once, but no longer own. there are only three that i can say that i have ever had pangs about the sale of (or in one case it's being given as a gift).

1. WW2 era Colt 1911A1, only colt i've ever had that was worth a darn. then again it's in good hands so the pangs of regret pass.

Just for the record the next two were sold to cover portions of some large medical bills while i was out of work

2. the Remington 600 in .308 that my father gave me before my folks moved to FL. this was the first centerfire rifle i ever fired, it had family history, and other than kicking like an enraged mule was a very good rifle.

3. (and the one i miss most, especially now that i've discovered the 600yard F-class matches my local range holds). the Savage 110FP "tactical" in .223 that was the very first firearm I bought as opposed to had given to me. i truly do miss that ugly black thing :( gonna have to buy an new one soon.

A Remington 700 in .22-250. My dad bought it for me to shoot groundhogs off our farm. First "real" gun I ever had. I'd moved into town and there didn't seem to be any need for it at the time.

Most of the other guns here could be replaced. You can't re-buy the first one dad got you.

S&W Mod 28 Highway Patrolman 6"
1973 BHP
180 Series Mini 14 1976 "Made in the 200th Year of American Liberty"

Can't decide which I'd most like to have back.

Marlin 30AS. This was an absolutly gorgeous, flawless 30-30 that put 5-shots into a 1" hole @100yds. I also think the look of the 30AS with the steel cap on the end of the forearm is much better looking than the forarm on a 336. Everytime I see a Marlin 30-30 I kick myself in the A**.

Out of all the guns I've sold the past year

Kimber TLE
S&W K frame (2!, one 357, one 38)
O/U 20 ga
RRA AR
EA AR
HK USP 9mm. 40, 45
Colt Gold Cup Commander
Glock 32
Sig 226
Glock 22 (6!)
Kimber Stainless Pro Carry
Beretta 92

I wish I had the ability to keep the Colt. That was a beautiful gun.
