Warning Label On Barrel

Can someone help me. What does the warning label say on the barrel. I have
never seen one. I saw a Old Army that says "Read Owners Manual" on the
barrel. Is this the warning label? This was on one made in 1979.

Mine's an early '80's model and says the same thing.

My understanding is this is the warning mentioned, that prior barrels were unmarred.

That's a reason why I wouldn't want a Pietta pistol either. Absolutely hideous!

I've considered having it removed. Not a big deal, but I don't care for it.

New additions to my collection

I am member #44 already.

I just got back a couple 5.5" that I had Turnbull bone charcoal case color hardened. They turned out pretty nice.

Wow! Those are gorgeous! Can I dare to ask what the cost of having that done?

It looks like your grip-frame is stainless. Did you swap that out or can Turnbull apply his bone charcoal case color hardening to stainless?

wasatch they indeed are amazing i have considered doing this to one myself they look like brass grip frames.

Welcome ALJS! :)

Turnbull charged $600 to do both guns. Their prices vary on what they have to do to get the guns ready for the case hardening process.

I did the tear down, stripping, polishing prep and reassemble. They are stock Ruger brass frames.

Stainless steel cannot be case colored.

Sorry Fogg64 your right, 43 I feel so much younger now:)

The grip frames were bought off the Ruger forum and Ebay. I have been collecting them for several years, I have enough for a few more custom guns coming up.

Just keep watching the brass frames pop up all the time. They are pricey though, running anywheres from $325 to $450

Guess I didn't understand your question. The grips sell for $38 a pair from Altamont.

I thought you were making a joke about buying the guns for $38

Maybe I am still confused with your question.

"Is that the price for the grips themselves or with the gun too?"

No offense intended.

Mike

I am into these two guns near $3000

Not so sure I should get off on this topic here but...I'd really like to get an interest thread started for a Clements .50 Old Army conversion in a Bisley configuration. I've asked Dave but, he seems to have had his last run just over a year ago and isn't interested. Now, I'm willing to bet he might show some interest if there were enough takers for these fine conversions. Any interest or should I start another thread?

Wasatch, I wasn't clear. I meant the price of the brass Dragoon grip frames. You said $380 and I wondered if that was the price of an old ROA with them or just the MR3-BDs themselves.

Swathdiver, actually back around 1972 when the ROAs with brass frames sold, they only were around $189-$200 for the complete gun. Hard to believe just the grip frames sell now, when you can find, them for $325-$400+.
