The Sheer Joy of MOUSE GUNS....

Have owned/carried several "mouseguns", past favorites being the Baby/Bauer/Sauer-sized, despite the cocked/locked options with a striker-fired gun and .25ACP caliber.....THE current fave is the Autauga .32ACP/Seecamp copy, totally reliable with premium HP's, great deep-cover gun, DA-only safe carry with round chambered....only 1/2" larger than a Baby, the KT 1/2" larger than the Seecamp.....

Edited-in PS...have yet to find a volunteer who will allow me to empty a magazine into them from 25yds with any ineffective mousegun I own, including the favorite S&W 34-1 which clocks 900fps average......

i no longer have this one, because of reliability issues; it's a Cobra Enterprises .380:

and with my Llama .45 and S&W Sigma:

i replaced it with a Keltec P3AT.

A few in my collection - I am sure there will be more.

Mouse Guns

Yo, As far as I'm concerned any firearm that is small enough to fit in your palm regardless of caliber fits the definition of a mouse gun. Back in the old days they used to call them "palm or belly guns". I've seen little double barreled 45 cal derringers that I would call "mouse guns with a capital M". lol
Here are mine and what I consider to qualify as mouse guns:

My uncle races horses all the time so he's constantly sleeping in little trailers/campers. He keeps a little .22LR mouse gun handy. I keep tellin him he needs a shotgun. I like those little seacamps.

I have a sterling .25acp, I have had it for years, I bought it used/unfired ( I know this from the machine chips left in the bbl, I found them on initial cleaning)

I shot the gun for about a year, then sold it to my boss' son (at the time), He discovered that he was afraid of it, so I bought it back, I have never had a problem in the bang dept. In fact I carry the gun quite a lot.

Maybe I just got a good one, who knows?

I have a phoenix HP22 and a Raven P-25.

All of my pistols fit the SNS category, but those 2 are the only mouseguns I have...

unreconstructed1:

Just a suggestion.

Replace the recoil spring in your Phoenix at the first sign of trouble.. Phoenix Arms is very good about sending you extra's (free) and the pistol I had worked just fine, until it didn't...

A new recoil spring generally got it back to working just fine.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

I had a picture of a mouse with a back mounted turret cannon, but I can't seem to find that right now.

Wow, a lot of you define "mouse" gun differently than I would. A J frame revolver is *not* considered a mouse gun.

My only true mouse gun is my Beretta 950 .25 ACP. Even though my Kahr PM9 is small, it is a 9mm and not a mouse gun IMO.

A mouse gun fits in the palm of an average adult hand and usually is a small caliber weapon like a .22, .25, or .32.

Baby Brownings
Vest Pocket Colts
Tiny Berettas
Etc.

IMO...

I agree that some of the guns illustrated above are merely small, rather than mousy.

But I think it's fair to say that the P3AT (and Ruger's high complment ;)) fit in the palm of the hand of the average adult, as so some other higher-caliber weapons, like the Semmerling (which shoots a non-mousy .45 ACP), so this line does get blurry.

I love the things - I have plenty of 1911's, Glocks, SIGs, and others, but I always gotta have the latest little pocket pistol.

jimk66 -- what is that small S&W in your lower-right-hand picture? I am not a fan of most S&W autos, but that one has good lines. I've seen 'em before, but can't remember the model No.

Those are colts if I am not mistaken, and the little one looks like a pony.

How do you rate the Kel tec compaired to the pony? I have a mustang pocket light and am curious how the little kel tec might compare.

Ah! That would explain why I didn't find it in looking through S&W models ;) The pictures posted by FLC help clear that up anyhow.

Thanks!

currently, i own a kel-tec p3at, and a ruger lcp. they are both nice little guns. until a year ago, i wouldn't have even considered one of these. but thing change. i am going to do an extended side by side comparison on them, and when i am done, if my wife does't want one, i will sell one of them off. other than ccw, i dont see a lot of use for them. i can shoot a full sized gun MUCH BETTER! and lets face it, no one except godzilla could handle a 45acp in one of these little packages. so concealability is their main gig. they are a cool little peice though.

Mouse Guns

yhtomit, The top picture is a Ruger LCP, The revolver is a S&W J frame SS M640 , the two little pistols are the Colt MKIV Gov series 80 380 acp auto and the little one (your correct) is the Pony Pocketlite which is smaller than your Mustang or the Gov models and a DAO . There isn't any comparison to either the KT or the LCP. The Pony is really a small 1911 as are its big brothers the Mustang and the Government series with a big gun recoil system rather than the usual blow back type you find on the majority of small bore pistols. As a result they're the softest shooting small (pocket) gun you'll ever find. It's a great carry piece, is reliable, much more accurate than either the KT or LCP but it has a loooong stiff trigger pull. To me along with the DAO thats what I'm looking for in a pocket gun.
Bottom line is I'm carrying my LCP all the time now and retired the Pony except to take it to the range every once in a while for fun .
Cheers,
JimK66

Gotta love little things that go bang!!!

I always seem to check out the "little ones" at gun shows.
All I can say is "Nice"..... although I don't own one, I'd like to get
a Bauer. Love those little pearl handles.

Here's another NAA Guardian 380, when I'm not wearing the 40, I take this....(it's seen a lot of carry time)
Triple K holster.
It's a little monster to shoot, but shoots better with each box it eats....never a ftf yet, tons of ammo....
I have to hand it to NAA and the quality of the gun. Mine is a Kahr frame.
After all.......guns are for shooting.

Be safe always....

Those Pony's are nice pistols, and they are Colts, but the internal design is quite a bit different than a full-size 1911. They also do not have a grip safety.
I have a number of mini-1911 .380s. The closest to the original, inside and out, is the Llamas made in the 1940s.
I'll post a family photo this weekend. Just bought a mint Colt Govt .380 today. I'm still giggling :)

That is a powerful testimony to a gun. I guess I need to shoot a Kel Tec/LCP and see how I like it. I do enjoy the mustang however and it has run very well. I am just a sucker for new guns. Even if I have some thing that fills a given niche I want another. The Kel Tec is a DAO and thus an entirely different beast is how I am justifying it to myself.

Here's an oddball... F.A.Gradoga. .25acp.Curiously, it always seems to work despite being kind of crude.
