Things I've learned on THR

1. I have learned that I can never have too much ammo or magazines.

2. I have learned that zombies are real (see number 1). :neener:

3. I have learned that we are all on the same team even if not everyone realizes that.

4. I have learned that this site gives me a wealth of information that I never knew existed before.

5. Most importantly, I have learned to be thankful for how fortunate I really am. Having lived in PA and AZ, My 2nd Amendment rights were taken for granted for a long time.

6. I have learned not to take my 2nd Amendment for granted.

BTW, .45 ACP and the AR are better. Didn't you guys learn anything? :neener:

How little I know, and how much I have yet to learn. All of the above included,as well. And confirmation of something I already knew, that folks in the Gun Culture are among the best in the world.Just my .02.

The first thing that comes to mind is, if I take my time, I...*can*...get a point across without dropping the 'F' bomb! It ain't easy, Folks!
Secondly, although people are encouraged to speak their minds here, the Mods do a helluva job of keeping things on an even keel.
Third, this site and Bailey's and coffee are like peas and carrots, heh heh.
And last, the guy who is responsible for this site being here is of a Faith that gets blasted over and over but still allows the offenders to voice their opinions.
Can't say that I'd be able to be so even-tempered in his shoes.
Here's to ya, Man....

Since joining THR I've learnt...

What SHTF, TEOTWAWKI, BOB, BG, LEO, DRN, FFL, CHL, CCW, RENO, MZB, TSA, JBT, MSM and just about every other possible combination of letters means (and I thought computer geeks were bad for acronyms...)

Holding a handgun sideways isn't "cool".

What Sheeple, Molon Labe, Mall Ninja, Check your six, and Condition White mean.

That the M16 is underpowered and jams all the time.

That AK47s can't hit anything.

That 9mm is underpowered.

That Glocks are ugly and have no soul.

The 1911 and the Garand are the best guns ever, no question, period, and anyone who disagrees is a heretic.

Many people apparently make serious preparations for zombie attacks.

Revolvers are obsolete and no use for self defence.

Any handgun other than a revolver will jam if you try to use it for self defence.

That if it's time to bury your guns, then it's time to dif them up.

IT'S A "MAG", DARN IT, NOT A "CLIP"!

George W Bush is a socialist.

That most gun-fight scenes in movies are even more stupid than I had previously thought.

That "England is the country that lost the War of Independence" (well, I knew that already, but you make sure I could never forget it).

There are only two political positions: Anarcho Capitalist or Statist.

The definition of "arsenal" isn't "Three guns and 50 rounds of ammo".

To think "cool" when I start a new job and see that I'll be working in room 303 (with 3006 is just round the corner).

That the purpose of a pistol is to fight your way to the rifle you should have had with you in the first place.

And far more about firearms that I could ever have imagined knowing beforehand.

:)

I've learned that it ain't really tacticool unless it's synthetic and has a flashlight hanging off the end.

When I try the Fried Apple Pie Experiment I should keep it a secret, lest folks investigate...;)

You can lead a person to information, but you can't make them learn.

Sometimes I am the person who needs to break out of the box and look at things from other viewpoints. (OK, a lot of the time...:uhoh: )

There is just so much to learn out there!

And finally, when I am losing faith in my fellow people, I have a place I can go to where everyone (well, most everyone:p ) reminds me that folks are not so bad after all.:D

-Older gentlemen actually use the internet and, damn, are they grumpy.

-Never reveal to people that you shoot just for fun or you'll get an earfull.

Sandy is quicker shooting from a bathroom window than Larry thought. Yes of course she hit the varmit...
Actually, she missed me and hit the coyote. :D

I'm not going to try to remunerate everything I've learned on THR (and TFL and 1911forum). Everything mentioned above and more, about guns, ammo, politics, shotgunning, you name it.

The reason I come here is the people. P95, sm, Art, Dave, Tamara (I miss her posts), Preacherman, pax, (and all the mods) and a bunch of others. I won't try to name them all because I would miss somebody.

I feel like I'm learning something every day while just conversing with my friends.

Since I'm always on the lookout for bad things to avoid. I've learned that obvious sarcasm will be misinterpreted here. I don't go there! :D

1. I learned what CCW was (born and raised in CA, sure as heck didn't know before)

2. Oleg Volk has access to two hundred billion pictures, each of which he can come up with a snappy caption for.

3. AK's and AR's are legal somewhere out there and I WANT ONE.

4. People actually will read my posts and listen to me (I think) even though I'm 15

5. Old people do know a lot, despite the everlasting war between the elderly and teenagers

6. The 1911 should replace the M9 as the U.S. sidearm

7. The correct spellings (note:plural) of California include but are not limited to:
California
Kommiefornistan
People's Republic of (CA variant)
...now that I think of it I can't remember them all
But this state is the laughingstock of the country

8.The AK47 is used by more than just terrorists

9.It sucks being too young to buy any type of gun.

+1 for all of the above .... with the addition of a few points.

I've learned that I'm not alone in the world and that there are people who are just as frustrated by political correctness and the stupidity that passes for popular policy, law and culture as I am.
I've learned that there are a lot of very clever people out there who have learned from experience, who have "seen the elephant" and become stronger because of it.
I've learned that although I can learn from my own mistakes, its better to learn from the mistakes of others.
I've learned to appreciate the freedoms and opportunities that I have.
I've learned a few phrases that describe attitudes that I already knew and respected and tried to follow ... phrases like "pass it forward", "adapt and overcome" and "can't buy skill".
I've learned that people can connect through an electronic medium through simply sharing ideas and the bag of protoplasm that houses the mind doesn't matter .... the ideas and the people behind those ideas and attitudes matter - what they look like doesn't.
I've learned that "redneck" is an attitude, not an insult.
I've learned to blame Steve.
I've learned to desire a 28 gauge shotgun.
I've learned to blame Steve for desiring a 28 gauge shotgun.
I've learned to BA/UU/R.
and I've learned that although I thought I was a patient person, I can't hold a candle to some of the truly sainted knowledgeable folks who repeatedly answer the same questions from starry-eyed newbies and put their own wants aside to assist strangers in a past-time that they are truly committed to.

.... so when they gonna build that bridge, huh?

P95 Carry should return to Great Britain, get put up as Prime Minister and fix that place.
Hahaha - well Paul, sorry to say it is a lost cause - tho I greatly appreciate the suggested kudos, thank you :) Maybe 20 years ago I could have started straightening things out - and instilled a 2A equivalent. I'd still be here tho because of a certain lady I love deeply. Anyways - I am an American Citizen now :)

THR has for me been a mix - despite my advanced years I have learned a bunch of stuff - sometimes too having had egg on my face thru asserting something incorrectly, have felt pleased to have been straightened out :D I am most terribly certain as time passes - the learning process cannot cease - the more I know the less I know - know what I mean? :)

Above all tho I have felt it a privelage to have made some good friends - some quite close and many just relatively peripheral shall we say - but still, folks I would wish to meet were distances not such a problem. I have been fortunate to have actually met a few,and enjoyed the odd shoot here and there - some others like sm - had the pleasure of the occasional phone chat.

I have also learned that being a mod' can be a quick way to - upsetting, someone, somewhere, sometimes :D

I applaud the general sense of cameraderie and the majority feel of 2A support and dedication. I thank a good many for their ''company'' over many many months - years even.

I learned that I and others were right, by moving to this site from my old favorite, I do not miss GunKid.;)

That the 'answer' is some combination {addition, multiplication, exponentiation...} of 9, 12, 22, 38 & maybe 223 or 308.

That I have a gun addiction that's been in the closet for far too long. {"Hello, my name is Nematocyst." <response by most other THR members> "Hello, Nematocyst."}

That one aims a rifle but points a shotgun. Still working on the pistol & revolver.

That there's a difference between the words 'pistol' & 'revolver'.

That I am more conservative than I thought (or was willing to admit). No, wait, that's more radical. No, wait...just this: Molon labe.

That there are more acronyms than I ever knew before. {'cept I still don't know these: DRN, CHL, RENO, MZB, TSA, JBT, MSM}

That Dave McC is a fine shotgun teacher; that if Preacherman had been a preacher at my childhood church, maybe i wouldn't be going to hell now :evil: ; that Lee Lapin knows more about shotguns than most; that Steve is to blame for most things that have gone wrong; that Hillbilly doesn't like San Francisco {but neither do I}; that Hso knows a bunch about water filtration; that Pax is a role model for women shooters (and more to teach men than some may be willing to admit); {gee, I'm leaving out a billion others that should be mentioned}

That I have much, much more to learn on THR and hopefully more to contribute.

That I'm thankful for THR.

Wow... all of the above . I have lurked for quite a while and have truly been impressed by the knowledge and civility this board maintains. I am better of for discovering this site.

I've learned that guys like Hunter Rose--who are ex-sailors,wear kilts and tights, have ponytails down their backs, and who roll their own cigarettes---are real men. ;)

Just kidding with you, Bill. You're young, and I'm old. Someday you'll be kvetching just like us old farts.

Hunter, the only person who has seen my legs in the last 28+ years is my wife. And she has no complaints.

I'm just jealous that you have a full head of hair. My only hope is that it's growing to the outside rather than to the inside of your head. ;)
