It's in the eye of the beholder. But which one revolver & which one pistol do you think are the best looking? These would not be customs, but out of the box guns any of us could buy ( finances allowing ). If your pistol choice is something like a 1911, be specific about which one. There are so many, and they can look vastly different.

Thanks,

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, my grandfather had the ugliest revolver ever produced, an H&R 9 shot .22 that I lost the coin toss and ended up inheriting. Just seeing it in the gun cabinet gave me heartburn... Until about a year ago when my youngest went out with his Dad and I and we let him shoot the beast. On his third shot the boiler plate *DINGED* and LR looked at hubby with an expression of joy saying "I hit it Dad!" That old revolver is now more beautiful to me than the most expensive top of the line weapon in existence.

Out of all the revolvers, I think the Colt Peacemaker, 5.5 inch barrel, color case hardened, in .45 Colt is far and above the most beautiful. Like a beautiful woman, it's got curves in all the right places, the symmetry seems just right, and fills the hand magnificently.

Pistols are tougher to choose from. I like the shape, feel, and appearance of the basic 1911, like my Colt 1991A1, which is black anodized. No fancy sights and just the right amount of curves and planes.

Not my firearm, yet.. but will be in the future. Its a Dan Wesson Valor.

For a revolver, I'd go with a Smith & Wesson 686 6" barrel .357 Magnum, in the autoloader category, it's hands down a Wilson combat Tactical Supergrade with front cocking serrations omitted, slide markings omitted, traditional blued finish (matte rounds with polished flats) and nice double diamond checkered cocobolo grips. If that's going to be considered a custom gun, I'd go for a Les Baer Boss 1911 with fixed combat night sights.

Revolver is a tough one... Squirming... Ok.... SW 69. Can be had NIB with classic S&W lines. 1st pick would have been the Python but, if you find one NIB it falls on the realm of exclusive custom.

Since All 1911s look alike to me and trend towards custom the Auto choice is easy. Browning HP.

Revolvers:
Colt 1861 Navy
Colt Single Action Army (5.5" nickel plated with ivory grips)
Colt Python (6" barrel)

Semiautomtics:
Colt 1911 pre-war commercial
Browning Hi Power (blued, fixed sights)
Colt 1908

I think the S&W Model 19 Combat Magnum with a 3" barrel is the best looking gun period. If I had to choose a semi-auto I'd take the HK P7M8

The one Robar uses to advertise their NP3 is gorgeous:

For an auto it's the 6 inch 44 Auto Mag, the HK P7 a close second.

For revolver, easily the Colt Python.

Several come to mind. First Smith and Wesson model 27 with a 3 1/3" barrel. Second Smith and Wesson model 19 with a 2 1/2" barrel. Third my Smith and Wesson model 66 with a 2 1/2" barrel and full bark stag grips. last but far from least, my Smith and Wesson model 65-5 Lady Smith, it's really got that don't fuss with me look.

Revolver - 4" S&W Model 10, pencil barrel.
Auto - Jericho 941
Pocket Pistol - either the Colt m1903 or the Baby Browning.

so many

for a single action Revolver - Ruger Vaquero 44 mag stainless 5.5"
Dbl action -S&W model 29 in Royal blue finish

autoloader..traditional Colt Goldcup polished blue
modern Sig Sauer X-5

& if $$$ isn't a problem..any Cabot 1911 would make me very happy,
esp. a National Standard Deluxe:)

Black powder revolver: Remington 1858. Those Colts are missing the top strap.

Modern revolver: S&W K-38 Masterpiece. That how a DA revolver is supposed to look.

Semi-auto: GI 1911. I don't know why. And then there was the Wolverine.

Rhino: Unlike myself, the Rhino makes it all the way through ugly to handsome.

Revolver-Colt Single Action Army 4 5/8" barrel
Semi-Auto-Colt Combat Commander
Black Powder Revolver-Colt Model 1860

Just for the record, the Colt is 4 3/4" in length, the Rugers are 4 5/8".

I know, nitpicking!
