Things people bring to the range to shoot at.

depending on the range (distance from shooter to golf ball) .22's will penetrate and almost come all the way out. One would make a nice trophy. I guess I'll have to make some more.

Another thing to consider is getting into IDPA or 3-gun type stuff if it is in your area. It is an exciting change of pace from just shooting bullseyes on paper.

But plinking definitely has it's place. I used to save empty milk jugs and 2-liter bottles. When I had a good pile of them I knew it was time to fill them up with water and take them out shooting. It is fun to just work your way down the line with a mini-14 at 100 yards. As you're picking them up you get to study the damage. Clay pigeons are also good for handgun and rifle. Spinner targets for .22's are also fun.

At a cowboy shoot we had steel shotgun knockdowns that when they went down, they launched a can of Sam's Choice Orange Soda for the second shot. Tons a fun, pards.

We have a 50ft indoor 22lr range. Try shooting THROUGH a lifesaver!!!
We shot tic-tacs and cut playing cards in half edgewise. Difficult yes, but when you do it you feel like a god...lol

Outside we use bowling pins, metal spinner targets, empty shot shells, clays, fruit and veg, paper, cans, golf balls... about the only thing we can't use is the exploding targets.... someone damn near burned down the range. :fire:

A dodge aries k car.
Ha beat that.

And yes its still there, but we still shoot at it. Or at least still hang targets on it.

We always go right by the local market on the way out to the range. One day, I got the idea of ridding them of their fruits and veggies that are no longer fresh enough to be sold. They were glad to get rid of them and even gave us some boxes to carry them in. Now, it's kind of a tradition. Very little cleanup work involved as it's biodegradeable and the deer and racoons help with cleanup.
