I suspect that part of the .gov's reluctance to act is due to money. Some businesses make $$$$ hand over fist by hiring illegals, not paying the same wage and taxes that they would have to for legal immigrants and citizens. In the halls of power, the Golden Rule applies, as it always has.

As for another 9-11 type attack, well what better to whip the populace into a frenzy and get them to surrender MORE of their rights?

Here's the solution to your 'problem'. Round up all the illegals, deport them, secure the borders to keep them out. Require all the able bodied Americans on welfare, food stamps, Section 8 housing, etc., to work in the fields picking the vegetables. This will be required of them as long as they're on welfare.

I watched C-Span last night and they had the Border Patrol guru on there in front of a Senate committee answering questions.

The one that suprised me involved OTM's. Here's the process. They catch them, process them and then let them go on their own recognizance. Thats it. The Border patrol chief even told the Senators that the smugglers encourage the OTM's to walk up to a border patrol guy once across the border. That way they will get a ride in, processed and released. The smuggler will be waiting outside to take them to the final destination and get paid.

Another thing, the BP honcho says they catch half of all coming North. Thats 900,000 last year so the other half got thru. I think its more like 25% are getting caught.

At least one thing was evident in the process. All the Senators agreed that the border control issue is a major problem. Both Dems and Repubs were on the board. Now, the question is, what are they gonna do about it?

It's not about money. That's the excuse the mainstream media offers us, but it has nothing to do with it. The end goal is a united hemisphere under one super government. All of North, Central and South America will be one trade and economic zone under a super government, sort of like what they are trying to put together in Europe as we speak. They want to create the impression that they are helpless to stop the flood of illegals so that you will be happy to accept other solutions which they will eventually offer to you. These other solutions will always bring us another step towards their goal of a united hemisphere. The united hemisphere is not the end of it, though. After that, the plan is to transfer all national sovereignty over to a central world government. Bush is 100% aware of this plan, and is working with the organizers, as are most of the shakers and movers in government, i.e., the so called establishment. This has all been under way since the early 20th Century.

The easiest way to control them is to make it undesireable to move here. Make it impossible to get a job. (Enforce the laws on the books fining employers ). Don't allow their babies to automatically be "anchor" U.S. Citizens (it's not in the 14th amendment ). Sweep all schools for illegal children periodically. Make them prove legal status to go to school. No public assistance of any kind. No drivers' licences or bank accounts.

Realize that all of the above won't stop terrorists. They come in with legally issued visas (thanks to the Department of State, not INS) and never leave. Realize that we give all tourists 6 MONTHS here on every admission. (I can't afford to go to Mickeyland for a week, how can these people afford to stay for 6 MONTHS and not work? ) However the results of the above make the remaining illegal crossers easier to spot because there will be a lot fewer of them.

IMO it is about the money.
When I first went to work at my present employer in 1980, there were a multitude of trades(painters, insulators, pipefitters, concrete men, machinists, millwrights, etc) that were staffed by plain old American men.
These guys all made a living wage of around $10Hr. Back then that was enough money to live on. I could afford a new automobile, a place to live, with enough left over to have things like girlfriends, guns, vacations, etc.
Along about the mid 1980's the illegals began to arrive in numbers. The wages of everyone stagnanted and then began to retreat.
Here it is 25 YEARS later and you know what? The wages are STILL $10Hr when starting out. They go up but not much.
That is because there are thirteen illegals standing in line for that $10Hr job.
No young AMERICAN guy can compete.
The employers DO NOT want this to stop. Follow the money.

First of all, it's tough to find $10/hr in Pa. Second, all employee's pay social security taxes. Even if it's under a bogus number. Think of all the cash the gov gets to keep because they don't pay out to illegal aliens. It's all about the money. Also ,how does anything, besides criminals, get stronger through illegal acts. Why have laws to begin with. Can't see making illegals a strength as much as sucking in second hand smoke. They don't spend the money they make to insure their cars or improve their neighborhoods, they send it back to Mexico. My point was that if we focus only on the Mexican border we expose our flanks (Canada, O'Hare airport, etc.). If Congress deems illegal immigration a priority then it needs to be defense in depth, not the Border Guard Line alone the Rio Grande.

As well, if we deem immigration enforcement a priority, then be prepared to pay the consequences and costs of enforcement as you specify--Border Patrol, USA, BICE, aljs, detention housing, loss of economic vigor, chilling of foreign investment, etc.

Just a leftist apologist myth. The reason they are getting jobs at all is not because Americans won't do them but because they can pay them less under the table whereas Americans expect at least the LEGAL minimum wage.

Did you all notice how angry Bush got at the Minute Man project? Why would that be? Because they are demonstrating that a rag tag bunch of volunteers can easily do a better job than the folks paid by the gubment to do it. You see, Bush doesn't actually want to stop the flow of illegals. He wants to create the impression that even the immense power of the United States Government is helpless to stop it, and this is shown to be a lie when a rag tag bunch is able to do a much better job than the US Government. It demonstrates that the government could do it if it applied any effort at all.

The ultimate goal is to surrender US sovereignty to a super government which will govern the entire hemisphere. That, or the steps leading up to that, will be offered to us as the final solution to the illegal immigration and terrorism problems. When that proves not to solve it, the solution that will be presented to us is uniting the three super governments (i.e., the European Union, the American Hemisphere Union and the Asian Union) into a one world trilateral government. This will all be done so gradually that few will notice the loss of national sovereignty. Americans will still think that they have a nation, but it won't mean very much in real terms. Most decisions will be made for you by the elites of world government. Many such decisions are made for you by them as we speak.

Wages are affected by global trade. Oil is expensive because of China, and VCRs are cheap because of China. Illegal immigration is a drop in the bucket compared to the two billion people on other continents that would love to work for $0.25 US an hour.

And curtailing welfare according to a state's desires just makes good sense.

If someone asks me for my citizenship papers I will laugh at them and walk away.
