I do not go to stores that lock you outside. Sorry, I am not standing on the sidewalk with my wallet in my hand at 2am.

Glad you made out allright.

Threads like this remind me of why I left the city. Before I had hoodlums cutting through my backyard, now I have deer.

Glad to the hear the situation didn't end with lead flying.

S.A. only goes so far. If your in line at a store you expect people to walk up to you, thats a normal thing to do.

The only way to avoid that is NEVER go into a store.....:scrutiny:

Stopping in Houston Texas at night is NOT "situational awareness" !
I live in Jacksonville, the Murder, Carjacking, and Roadrage, capital of Florida.
I buy MY gas,and cigarettes in the Daytime, so I don't have to Stop after dark.
I ALSO DON"T look like I have VICTIM written across my forehead.
.

Nah, I don't NEED a gun, but anything I do to a BG may look
worse to a J&J than just shooting them, if I'm FORCED to
improvise. Of course, in that event, I'd be denying the antis a
statistic. Pity.

But, since I target shoot anyway, when it's convenient, I'll carry,
since I have a permit. I don't really want to give a crook an even
break by falling into any predictable habits...

The more important lesson here is travel security and situational awareness.

Keep your car fueled to avoid having to fuel after dark if possible and before 2200 for certain so you avoid goblin time at the gas station or being stranded without fuel.

Pick your fueling/dining/shopping areas with a mind towards your travel security. Well lighted neighborhood, well lighted business, staffed, inside pay or pump pay, keep your keys with you and don't hesitate to hit the panic button on the remote as a distraction/diversion. If you're forced for some reason to break these rules, drive up to the point of payment and pre pay then pump your fuel.

Great points!

Another good tip that I usually put into practice is fueling my vehicle in bays that have a CCTV camera facing them.

Posted by scaatylobo: Gee I would love to comment, but if we have to keep race out of a racial incident = guess I cant !.

Then don't.

Perhaps it is lost on you that all of the discussion that is pertinent to THR would be the same no matter what the racial identity of any of the participants might be.

I had a similar incident inside a united dary farmers, when I turned around mr mouth was tring to get in my face so I gave him a knee in the jewls that likely cured any reproduction plans and pulled my backup 380 out of my left pocket. the other two associates aperantly didnt need any freebies as they left in an extreamly quick fashon. I paid for my items and upon leaving gave mr happy on the floor my best drop kick to the ribs I could muster, work boots make good anti get up and fight wear.

The point is it was a quick stop but I always at least have my backup, It was a attempted robery, I was out numbered, I was traped, and I needed a diversion to be able to obtain my firearm. I used supprise for my diversion.

The kick was just for me.

Same gas station I'd stop at (out in the boonies) every night to grab some chew after dropping my girlfriend (wife now) off at her house. One time I stopped three men approached me, after that I never went back there or let my wife stop there. I saw that today and got butterflies, even though it was a crime that had taken place earlier and then stopped and happened again there, it would still have been scary to be there.

... And I took off and drove off...

Strange example. It sort of defeats the point of your post to say you need a self defense weapon and then provide an example where one was not needed and nobody was harmed in any way.

Maybe he didn't have one on him, but then after he got away safetly from the situation he realized he needed one. Thats my guess, thats what happened to me, thats why I carry a concealed weapon.
