Greeting's Folk's-

I just wanted to take this opportunity to let all concerned THR
administrators, moderators, and the general membership to
toast THR's well being, as it has created many, many long
standing type friendships. As I recall, I made an unfavorable
post on this site a while back and a new THR member came
to my aid very quickly; and helped defend my reasoning. And
since that very day, we have become as close as two brothers
but with the barrier of only having seen each other in internet
picture format.

Now, its just about every day that we share not only our gun
knowledge; but other happenings as well. Not to mention the
fact that we are about 1500 miles apart; but our families are
as one. With this gentleman being based in Rhode Island, and
me in Alabama its not often that we go without checking on
each other via the Internet! We both have other friends here
on THR as as well; but its rather funny how our families have
become as one.

I think with all due respect we owe THR's owner Oleg Volk
his staff, and the THR team members a gift of gratitude for
making all this possible. I want to continue my part in this
endevaor, as its been a wonderful experience. Thanks Oleg,
and keep up the good work!

Respectfully,

Hello Ala Dan, my friend!

Missed you around here, hope all is well.

I understand the friend through forum bit. I have more friends here than I do folks local. I have talked to quite a few via landline, amazing how some of these folks do understand how us Southern Boys talk ain't it? :D

Lets see I regulary visit with folks from New Zeeland to Vermot. From MD to Cal. Gotta admit tho...that one fella in PA with a British accent and I do quite well. Then there is that fella in LA originially from SA.

Folks in TX are easy...I'v spent time in TX and may one day move there myself.

Yep, we have some good folks and good friends here. I take a road trip my problem is going to be making any time while traveling. Folks keep saying drop by.

New Zeeland is gonna be real problem...they ain't made plans for a bridge that long yet. :D

I hear that, sm. Same for me.

It's strange, I've always had a hard time opening up very much EXCEPT to complete strangers, but now I finally feel like I'm part of something, like I finally belong.

It's nice. :)

Dan, old pal, you daman! Hope all is well there in Bammer! Your suthin pal, George. :)

Dan,

I respectfully associate myself with your comments -- and 100 percent. Further, there are a few truly dear friends -- including my old UT Vol buddy -- that I have met on THR, TFL and S'ville that will remain in my heart forever. THR is a virtual community, but it is also a real family.

All the best -- Roy

Friends on here? Heck yeah. Smoke Rizen, Steve, Chris, the late Labgrade, Steve Smith, Zak Smith and Sasha, Sisco, Justin, gyp_c2, MoNsTeR, Jade, WYO, Art, Penman and a whole bunch I'm forgetting.

The main reason I finally got a new computer at home was because I was missing you guys evenings and weekends. ;)

sm.

Just a nitpick - it's spelled New Zealand. I know the Dutch originally spelled it the other way, but hey, they're not around anymore.

I lived there for a year as an exchange student in Christchurch (has it really been 10 years!). It's not that bad to fly out there as long as go on the off season. Tickets can be had for around $1,000 or less LA to Auckland as long as you avoid the prime tourist season (our winter). I was going to visit my old host families again this Christmas but the airfares are just too high at that time ($2100+ LA to Christchurch, and then I'd still have to get to LA).

Anyway, I have made some friends on this forum. Hope to make a few more.

sumpnz ,
Oops, Sorry about that. I am from what is called the "South" here in the Continental US. We aren't taught well in Publik Skool , we make the other parts of the county look good. Our ladies are prettier though. [ that just got me into trouble -huh]

At least I learned from working with two folks - one from New Zealand and one from Australia - Do not get the two confused. I just thought the North versus South dealie was a can of worms here. :D

We gotta have a serious talk with El Tejon. I spoke with him via phone the other day. He may type a 'southern drawl" when in Tejas...aint' no way he can verbalize it tho'. :D

Pointy boots, and longnecks are fine El Tejon...just smile, point and nod. Don't say anything...Oh and dribble some BBQ sauce down your shirt, pants and boots...TX camo. :p

That's especially true when you're dealing with each country's respective rugby fans.

I ain't much of a poster, but I do lots of readin' - I do know that when you're at mid-point octogenarian you've lost most of your friends, and you sure can pick up a few here... keep talkin' fellers.

You know when I wrote the topic starter, I didn't
want to name names for fear that I would over
look someone who has been not only a great
contributor; but that has also meant a lot to
the THR membership. And believe me, there
are far too many for my old brain to remember?
But, I just wanted to clue all the THR family
(brothers and sisters) in the fact that we
have achieved a really good membership, and
I'm very proud top be part of it.

This has got to be the most civilized gun forum
(along with TFL) around, bar none! And we are
fortunate to have a very knowledgeable bunch
of persons on board. So, all of you stand up and
take a bow, for making it all possible!

Best Wishes,
Ala Dan, N.R.A. Life Member

PS: Folks that were wondering about me, myself
and family are OK and doing swell. Just took a
few days off the ole' puter to reflect on how
well life has been for me the past 57 years.

May GOD BLESS you all, and keep you and yours
out of harms way!

It is indeed quite remarkable how some friendships can occur thru these portals. They don't so much get made as - ''happen'' .... there is sometimes the chance occurrence that leads to a few PM's .... and later then some time on phone ... the realization that there is another kindred spirit.

I count a good many of you guys as friends ... not just ''aquaintances'' .. and am convinced that (despite my ''odd'' accent :p ) ... I'd not be far wrong in expecting an easy sit down with any of you and a good chat as if we'd met long ago.

There is an inate ''cameraderie'' I think with most of us - by default - but now and again we see in others something we identify with .. might be a spiritual feature, perhaps just a recognition of another guy with honor and integrity .. common ground. Enough tho to enable us to feel that we have a potential friend . someone in whom we might confide .... all that despite as is all too often the case ..... mqany 100's of miles separating us.

The saddening thing is that - in most cases we can never meet up ...... shake hands. Circumstances, geography, time - all conspire to make this unlikely, in most cases. I have been glad to manage meeting a few thru THR shoots .... it all helps.

I feel privelaged to have ''met'' so many good folks.
