Since the Glock 30 is not my favorite and I love 357s then I say do it. If it was a Glock 19 though then probably no.

I guess it all depends man. Do you have any wheelguns? Do you have another .45? Myself, I wont be without a .45. Period. I also wouldnt be without my glock, which happens to be a .45. I love .357 wheelguns, and if it were me, I would save some cash and buy the .357 and keep the glock.

I'm leaning towards doing it at the moment (VERY subject to change) because I don't own a wheelgun and because the Glock 30 isn't the best suited to my hands. I'll get another Glock at some point but it'll definitely be a 17 or 19, Glock's bread and butter designs in my opinion. I'm with you, I DO NOT like being without a .45 at all but I can get by for awhile I guess. I'll probably save for a bit after the trade and go for a Sig p220 to get back into the .45 game...just my thoughts as of now. Keep the input coming guys, thanks.

If the G30 doesn't fit your hands, I'd go for the Ruger. Ruger's revolver grips seem to be pretty good at fitting a lot of people.

I voted no, but I guess it depends if this is going to be a gun you intend to carry.
IMO, the Glock is a much better carry gun than the Ruger.
But if you intend to keep it as a house or vehicle gun, then the Ruger would work well in that capacity.

Good luck,
Easy

I know this probably won't help you, but...

My first question is, why did you buy the Glock if you don't like the way it feels? Did you buy it sight unseen? My advice would be to rent a GP100, if possible, and try it out. At the very least, go to a gun shop and hold one. Forget about what we think and see what YOU think! If you let us decide for you, what happens if it turns out you don't like the GP100 either?

Personally, I don't have enough money to go out and buy a gun based solely on name only or someone else's recommendation or suggestion and then sell or trade it if I don't like it.

I own both calibers and I say keep the Glock. If you ever have to shoot it for self defense it'll have less recoil, make less noise (at least in my experince the .357 is about the loudest handgun I have shot indoors and out), probably have less chance of over penetration, and you'll have 4 more rounds than the Ruger.

Shooting will be so cheap, using .38 specials, and with .357 you can do just about anything.

Trade away!

I bought it pretty much sight unseen. Was an impulse buy. I LOVE Glocks buuuuut the 30 isn't the right one for me. Like I said I'll probably go with a 17 or a 19 next.

Well. I think that answers your question. Trade away. I think you will enjoy the GP-100. Very versatile as well as a fine shooter.

I agree, you answered your own question.

A GP100 is a solid handgun. Would make a nice match to the 17 or 19 you buy later.

Just buy the revolver if you really want it!! There are only 2 guns I have sold or traded over the years and in order of "wish I could go back and do it again" they are a Glock 30 and an XD9. I guess I am more of an auto guy in that I have sold 2 revolvers and given 1 away, but man do I miss my Glock 30!!

Ruger Beats a BLOCK any Day ... Go for it !!!

How mature. wrong, but mature.

If the 30 doesnt feel as good as a 17 or 19, then you should trade the 30. Although, I still refuse to get rid of a gun, I will just save for another one.

I agree with many others here. I would trade in a heartbeat but that is because I love GP-100's and don't like Glock 30's. But, and here's the big part, THAT'S JUST ME AND YOU'RE NOT ME. If you don't at least handle the GP and, ideally, shoot one before you trade, you are doing the same thing now that you did when you first bought the Glock 30.

If I could only have one gun...

It would be a Stainless 4"/4.2" GP100. The 2009 GP100s have slightly longer than 4" barrels so that they are legal in Canada. Doesn't change anything other than their regulatory status in Canada. I believe that S&W is doing this as well.

Anyways, I have a GP100 and could not be happier. .357 magnum revolvers are as good as it gets for a practical, multi-purpose handgun. In my opinion, you can't beat their reliability and flexibility.

Before you accept this deal, perform a revolver check on it. I think that Ruger GP100s are the best designed medium framed revolvers on the market. The problem is that Ruger QC is not so hot. It's hard to beat a good GP100, but occasionally Ruger puts out a few guns that really, really suck. Happens to all manufacturers. Just make sure that you don't get burned.

If the gun checks out, I'd get make the swap in a heart beat. No question.

I like Glocks, but I prefer the 9 mm models. Just a personal preference.

Assuming there are no downside to either pistol from your perspective, I voted Ruger. Note: I've owned a Ruger GP100 (now have the SP101) and a Glock 21 (traded for a Remington 870 and some cash).

I voted no because my G-30 doesn't feel the most natural in my hand either, but for some reason it shoots so well for me I have to keep it.

IMO, the speed and capacity of the G-30 combined with it's lighter weight, more compact size and reduced felt recoil make it a superior gun.

In a 4 inch GP-100 the .357 magnum isn't very efficient, and all that wasted powder goes into producing excessive muzzle blast/flash and recoil.

I love the original magnum, I have 5 guns chambered for it, but for serious business, I'll take a G-30.

Give your G-30 another chance.
