Lubriplate on the pin. Pull the cylinder between loadings and wipe off the residue, apply more Lubriplate.
Should be able to shoot all afternoon this way.

Just came from the Gunsmith. Cut and re-crowned the barrel. It's 6 1/2
inches now. Cut dovetail and installed sight. Cost 40.00 I sanded off the
terriable varnash that Uberti puts on and gave the grips a oil finish. Here
is the before and after. Got a set of "Tombstone" aged ivory grips on order.

My memorial Day Pietta full length was finally christened about fifteen minutes ago!
32 grains FFFg, Hornady .454 RB, Grease over ball. I only shot at seven yards as this weas my first outing with the new gun. Minute of playing card and slightly left of POA at that range. Just enough umph to know it fired and SMOKE.
Started with #10 CCI for cap clearing and all was well. Changed to #11 caps because I had to know and fired one round (which suprised me by hitting so close to POA) and then on my second attempt found the next cap had turned sideways on recoil and got a misfire ( did wait 30 seconds before checking or even lowering my aim) then found that the two caps on the left side were simply gone. Recapped with bent and remaining #11s then with a pair of #10s. Lot of debris on the remaining #11s but not so on the #10s from then on.
You guys were right (as usual) on the cap choice...#10s it is.

Alright, I've got a really cool project in mind. I'm working on getting some parts, a frame, grips, a cylinder, and a barrel. I'm trying to get a frame and some parts in an auction, so there will be a cool build ahead. It will be a .22 revolver based off a Remington NMA, .22 cap and ball with one cylinder and .22 Long Rifle with another.
So... Octagon or round barrel? I'm thinking a 6" barrel would be perfect. I used a program called gimp to put this together, I'm not the best at editing photos but I think you guys get the idea. What do y'all think?

You could always use a .22 caliber barrel liner in the factory barrel. You drill out the original rifling and epoxy or solder in the liner. That would give you the factory barrel, externally, while being .22 cal, internally.
Depending on the OD of the barrel liner, it may be easier to do this to a .36 caliber Remington copy.

The frame doesn't come with a barrel, just a cylinder, base pin, grips, and the internals. I'm thinking I'll put the barrel from my brasser on there so I can have a steel framed Remmy to load hot, and build off the frame of my brasser. That way I'll still have a brass framed revolver, I like the look of brass. It will still be cap and ball .22 and there will be a conversion cylinder for it, so there would be the simple beauty of the shiny brass frame, and the coolness of a cartridge conversion without worry of the frame stretching because it's a .22 LR/cap and ball.
The beauty of this is it can go from .22 LR to .22 percussion. Firearm, not firearm, firearm, not firearm. A loading port behind the gate may not even be needed to get the cartridges in given it's only a .22 and not a big .45 Colt cartridge, no modified frame means it's legally not a permanent conversion, and therefore not a firearm that would require registration or whatever Cali-crap there is to own a handgun. Conversions are legal here as long as they aren't permanent, as far as I know.
The reason I'm building this is because a .22 caliber NMA is just plain awesome. A .44 will work for rabbits, I know that as a fact. Not to get too graphic but when I shot that rabbit with my .44 it did more damage than I wanted, it made a mess and really tenderized the poor critter. The big cloud smoke sure did block my vision even though, thank God no follow up shot was needed. I hate making animals suffer, it makes the meat taste like crap. But if there was a hunting situation that required a follow up shot it would be hard to aim though the gunsmoke, a .22 produces little smoke and with hollow points or some of my homemade wadcutters would make a fine hunting handgun. A .22 and .44 won't make a difference, I only take head shots when hunting and both will do fine.
So the end result will be a paperless .22 caliber revolver that can go from not being a firearm to being one or from being one to not being one, probably going to be accurate given the sights I'll be using, and it'll be perfect for hunting. Think Ruger Single Six, or Heritage Rough Rider. This also means some Colibris will get shot off because I could practice in the backyard or shop provided I've got a backstop set up.
The last step, engraving my middle name onto the backstrap. I had it legally changed to Hawken.

The beauty of this is it can go from .22 LR to .22 percussion. Firearm, not firearm, firearm, not firearm. A loading port behind the gate may not even be needed to get the cartridges in given it's only a .22 and not a big .45 Colt cartridge, no modified frame means it's legally not a permanent conversion, and therefore not a firearm that would require registration or whatever Cali-crap there is to own a handgun. Conversions are legal here as long as they aren't permanent, as far as I know.
The reason I'm building this is because a .22 caliber NMA is just plain awesome. A .44 will work for rabbits, I know that as a fact. Not to get too graphic but when I shot that rabbit with my .44 it did more damage than I wanted, it made a mess and really tenderized the poor critter. The big cloud smoke sure did block my vision even though, thank God no follow up shot was needed. I hate making animals suffer, it makes the meat taste like crap. But if there was a hunting situation that required a follow up shot it would be hard to aim though the gunsmoke, a .22 produces little smoke and with hollow points or some of my homemade wadcutters would make a fine hunting handgun. A .22 and .44 won't make a difference, I only take head shots when hunting and both will do fine.
