Welcome to bax504, One-Time and Danriffle - Indian Outlaw, brotherlloyd – you need to post your pictures to be added to the register… c’mon let’s see those Remmies! 

Another reminder for the postal match that’s underway – and thanks again to Mykeal for running the match. I gather there’s another one running in May for those of you who cannot get to the range in April – looking forward to seeing those results. There have also been some great ideas on a ‘sticky’ resource page for us to use – I like that idea a lot and will be putting some thought into it while I enjoy eleven days off work coming soon – thanks to the Easter break and the upcoming royal wedding official holiday here in England, I get eleven days off for only three days annual leave!

Have a great shootin' weekend folks!

Indian Outlaw, welcome. I don't think anyone on the register here has a Lyman - although I'm guessing it's made for Lyman by one of the Italian makers? Be interesting to know.

Yes, made by Uberti.

The tolerances are very tight, and the dimensions and contours are almost identical to an original New Model Army. I want new walnut grips for it but can't find a custom gripmaker who'll do it

Thanks Indian Outlaw - I guessed Uberti or Pietta, as the Euroarms have a slightly different frame shape. As it happens, I also want some replacement grips - in a full 'anatomical' target style. This is probably an odd sounding request on your side of the pond, but as you may know, we aren't allowed cartridge revolvers here, so my Remmie does double duty as my bullseye target pistol!

Does this count

It's the Navy model in .36. Only difference is the barrel is shorter and the caliber makes it heavier from more metal.

The Doc is out now.

I just pulled a piece of Walnut to make an alternate set of grips for mine (I'm planning on ebonizing it).

Now I've never made a set of grips before, but I'm a professional cabinetmaker, so I don't think it'll be any trouble. I would consider making some to sell.

Aw crud

Just found the 'rules' for the postal match. Can't do it. I'm not steady enough with one hand, I need two, as rigor mortis has not set in yet.:eek::rolleyes:

You would need to fit the grips to each gun, 'cause there are variations. The tricky part on Remington grips is the upper area -- it's easy to leave gaps there. One custom grip maker whom I contacted won't do Remington grips for that very reason.

I can see in your picture how yours has a different shape where it meets the frame from my Pietta.

I'll make my set and see how much trouble it is. If that goes okay, we can go from there.

No, but I have a Holiday Inn Express nearby that I can stay in overnight if you want some surgery done. However, it's going to cost you and you have to sign waivers. :neener:

Targets on their way.....

Mykeal, my targets are shot and they'll be in the (air) mail in the morning - heaven knows how long they'll take to make their 3,800 mile trip - hopefully in time for the deadline!

It was a beautiful spring day when I shot them, temp 22 degrees C and blue sky as far as the eye could see. :D Made the drive to the beach that evening and watched the ships coming in to Portsmouth harbour.

Ooo - that's too bad. I arrive at Heathrow on Thursday at 10:30 pm. Friday we're off to Stoke to meet up with friends for the weekend, then back to London for the week. Return to US the 22nd. I could have picked them up.

I'm sure there will be plenty of time to get them here. We're getting 3 day service from the UK pretty regularly; sometimes as much as 5 but very rarely is it worse than that.

Id be interested in some grips if you made some.

What Id really want if i can find out how to have it donw, is the Gadsden Snake on mine, at the bottom, with a banner going up toward the frame saying 'Dont Tread on Me'
