THR thread inevitabilities

119. sm will appear at an unexpected moment and post a 7-minute-long reply that 75% don't understand, 5% were there, and the other 20% won't get until just before they fall asleep that evening.

Amen to that! I like him and all, but I have to read his posts like 3 or 4 times usually before I understand what the hell he's trying to say. It's usually very intelligent and insightful, but that's an awful lot of work!

123. Should we forgive Zumbo?
124. All police are jack-booted thugs, or shoot themselves in the foot when proclaiming to be the "only one professional enough..."

I'll think of more.

125. Anyone asking about Mosin Nagants will be inundated with a wealth of information, from sites entirely dedicated to the Mosin Nagant rifle.

126. At least 2 threads a week come up about PGO(pistol grip only) shotguns.

127. In any thread about PGO shotguns, Dave is usually the first person to respond followed by several other like minded individuals. :D

129) Anyone who posts a variation on the "Should I trade my silk purse for a sow's ear?" thread will invariably pop back in 4 pages into the thread, admit to not having read any of the posts, and mention how pleased they are with the Marlin model 60 they swapped their NIB Python plus $250 for, then thank us all for our help.

Any mention of 7.62x39 in a hunting context will result in someone pointing out that the 30-30 is 4 times more powerful and is much closer to the 300WBY in terms of power than it is to the short Russian round.

130) In threads discussing the encroachment of a law upon personal freedoms Standing Wolf will post a one liner explaining that we aren't really free, people don't stand up and fight for their freedom, the particular municipality is a lost cause and/or that (a) revolution is in everyone's best interest. :D

131 Someone will question whether a caliber is sufficient for Elk. Then be lectured that elk are an unstoppable equivilent to an armored car that can only be reliably stopped with XXX caliber.

If somebody posts a thread asking about an Uberti/Beretta/Cimarron old west clone, even if it is a rifle, another poster will jump in and remind everyone just how strong, safe, and superior a Ruger Vaquero is in comparison.:D

If ANY question or mention of an old style single action revolver is posted somebody will post in five replies or less about how unsafe these guns can be should someone drop the gun with a live round under the hammer, (Duh):banghead:

133. Someone requiring professional advice will opt instead to elicit opinions of the forum membership. A dozen or so unqualified and divergent opinions will be forwarded and conflict will ensue for several pages. The final consensus will be that it would be best to contact a professional.

134. Someone will post a thread about what is better a Marlin 45-70 or Remington 870 with slugs for Alaskan bear defense; even though the poster doesn’t live in Alaska and will never vacation their.

135. Any thread in some way involving shotguns will have a response involving an 870 within 2 posts and within 10 posts an Ithica 37/ Model 12.

136. Some one always will want to know if and were they can get a full-auto HK Mp5 in California.

137. 10mm always wins any pistol caliber war. Along with his friends .357 sig and
.44 special.

138. Who makes a 10mm carbine?

139. Someone will constantly call an Ar-15 an M16 despite the obvious lack of a selector switch.

140. Someone will inevitably post in any bolt action thread something referring to a sniper rifle within 5 posts.

141. Benneli's are god.

142.Mossbergs suck and are unreliable and have crapy saftey's and an 870 is superior for ______.

143. In any thread containing reference of poor gun handling habits, AD's, ND's or an LEO making a bad/questionable shoot, somebody is REQUIRED by THR policy to refer to "I'm the only one professional enough....." (guilty)

144. In the frequent "Is the .22LR good for self-defense?" thread, someone will always mention how a .22LR has been used to bring down EVERY land-animal in North America.

145. "Bear" threads - where to start on this one?... It will always be mentioned:
a) file the front sight off of any handgun you use against a bear...
b) If all you've got is a handgun against a bear, then bring the salt and pepper...
c) just bring a friend that you can run faster than...

146. The term "spray and pray" is used derogatorily against those who advocate the 9mm.

147. When someone asks about changing the mainspring in their S&W revolver, Old Fuff will always say "It's designed heavy for a reason, and that's so it will go boom every time..." ;)

can't believe no one said this one yet

148- anyone who posts a picture of a female shooter will have to deal with a page of comments about some part of her anatomy through obscure gun/ammo references

ie: great shooting stance! if it is flattering to her feminine form. . ..

ETA- this is way worse on other forums. THR usually stays to The High Road.

149. Some one asks an EXTREMELY vague question. As in 'What's the best gun to shoot?" or "What's a good gun that's between 100 and 10,000 dollars?"

150. Some says that they have been thinking of using a gun that would be absolutely awful for said situatin. And about 3 THR members carefully sugarcoat their long drawn out responses until the thread falls into obscurity 20 minutes later. I.E. "I think I'm going to take my snub nose .500 rabbit hunting tomorrow" or "Thinking about using a Barett .50 for urban home defense. What do you think?"

151. Gun shows aren't the same as they used to be. I best the first gun show ever wasn't the same as it used to be.

Most "what rifle for long range" threads over five pages will have at least one post that claims to be able to shoot sub minute of angle groups at 1000 yards with military surplus ammo.:D

And you have about a 95% chance that it is a Mosin Nagant.:neener:

The ubiquitous question: Somebody threatened\jumped out at\gave me the stink eye\begged money\road raged\etc etc . Then they list, in order, everything they did and ask if it was appropriate. Oddly, calling the cops is either far down the list or not there at all.

152. In EVERY SHTF / Bug-Out thread there is someone who mentions that their bug out backpack contains 2,000 rounds of rifle ammo and 500 rounds of pistol ammo, 6 days worth of food and water, a shovel, radio, med kit, dart board, and kitchen sink that they will cary on their back until things 'calm down'. Anyone who suggests that they should pack lighter is doomed to die.

153. The above mentioned poster will be a 50 year old man who is 150 pounds overweight that can barely walk to the mail box in his skivies without getting winded.

154. The only suitable rifle for SHTF is an AR because you can take .223 off dead enemy soilders. A 5.56 AK is out of the question because the 7.62 has better penetration. A fight ensues about 5.56 vs 7.62 and AK vs AR. No one bothers to mention that while you're playing 'Red Dawn' you should just take the dead platoon's tank.

155. The Dems are going to ban guns and ammo, so you need to go buy all that you can right now and stockpile. The next thread is someone complaning about the price / avalibility of ammo. People fail to see the connection.

16) People will trash talk LEO's

156. LEOs will come in and complain about “trash talk” when something is posted demonstrating yet another case of a LEO breaking the law, shooting himself, shooting someone else, or harassing an innocent citizen.

57. Any talk about someones' state laws will result in the brainless response of "you need to move".

157. When someone asks about information specific to their state (or a state they will be visiting/moving to), others will respond: “well, KI don't know about X but in my state…”

158. Someone will post a thread inquiry on the best current surplus ammo available (place/price/etc.) and within a page will see a recommendation to “just by Wolf ammo.”

159. Someone will start a threading asking to see pictures of others guns without showing pictures of his or will ask for a list of what others shoot without posting his own.

160. Any posts asking for ideas for things other than paper to use as a target will get “use tanarite” within 4 posts.

161. A thread will be locked WHILE someone is in process of writing a response to the thread.

166. Someone will ask for advice on their trail gun. The first 5 or 6 posts will say no less than a .44 magnum because everything else bounces off of bears and hits you in the heart (even if there are no bears in the OP's state). Then 3 or 4 posts will say that you don't need a trail gun to shoot the "four legged predators" because the "two legged ones" are a lot worse. Then it will turn into 2 caliber wars. 1 war for bears and 1 for people.
