I'm trying to compile a list of all the things that will inevitably be posted in a thread of a given topic here at THR. These are all somewhat tongue in cheek:

1) In any discussion of the 6.8 SPC cartridge, whether it be for hunting, target shooting, home defense or what have you, somebody will come out of the woodwork and begin pontificating on the superiority of the 6.5 grendel within five posts.

2) In any discussion of the AR-15 in any of its incarnations, the probability of the phrases "mousegun" "poodle shooter" "not as good as my XCR" and "barbie dolls" appearing in a single post approaches 1 as the thread grows toward infinite length.

3) A single use of the phrase "Hillary Clinton" will rapidly supply enough vitriol to wash the powder residue out of a whole bungalow of British black powder side by sides.

4) Libertarian is the new sexy.

5) Use of the phrase "trauma plate" will inevitably result in someone else suggesting duct taping them on, usually within seven posts.

6) Any discussion of modern military rifles inevitably results in a debate about the long range performance of 5.56x45mm NATO.

7) Any discussion of bullpup rifles results in a bunch of people who have never held one arguing about their inferior handling qualities.

8) Everyone on the internet is good looking and an excellent shot. :D

9) Any thread about Ron Paul will result in someone talking about how he compares to Fred Thompson. Followed by someone else bring up the Patriot Act and then before long we all start to realize how screwed we are.

10) Everyone makes 2" groups at 375 yards with an AK. "I walked it out, honest"

11) Every new guy AR15 thread will have a suggestion to mount a collapsible stock within 4 posts

12) Glocks will get thrown in the mix within 19 posts in any forum, and under 6 in a pistol subforum

13) .308 is the bestest round ever--even over rounds which have been around for nearabouts 100 years that said Counter-Strike player has never heard of

14) Any discussion of pistol-caliber carbines for anything but HD will immediately result in blackballing the OPer.

15) If a thread involves either an AR or a SHTF scenario, an obscure refrence to Gunkid will be made if the thread lasts longer than 5 pages.

I'm going to stick with my .243 since I already am familiar with it, though my .30-30 gets more mileage. Got a 6mm diameter round in that .243, got .30-30 and .30-06... don't need 6.8 anything. Don't need a poodleshooter... those mouseguns... I saw some pics of some somewhere that really did have Matel on the side... what do you expect from the folks that brought you the Barbie doll? Hillary who? All I've been hearing the last few days is Ben Thompson. With my lack of British blackpowder doubles, I don't think I need the vitriol anyway. And if you don't have duct tape, how're you gonna keep the trauma plates in place anyway? Not everybody can afford the fancy vests like the pros use. Not everybody wants to weight themselves down with iron either when they could carry that weight in Garand clips.

16) People will trash talk LEO's

17) They will then deny doing it

18) There will be a Peeing match over who has the biggest tin foil hat

(these always happen, just give the thread time-if it doesn't close it will happen

19) Someone will point out that .30-30 is plenty for deer

20) When trauma plates are mentioned - the tactical wheel barrel will follow along shortly.

Someone will point out that .30-30 is plenty for deer

It is. I know from experience. Well, you brought it up.

When trauma plates are mentioned - the tactical wheel barrel will follow along shortly.

I recall this one board or two I was on, every time the tactical wheelbarrow rolled out, so did an "assault dually" which was my answer to said wheelbarrow.

It's all about shot placement in the caliber wars. This upsets me cuz many of those making this statement seem to think "shot placement" can't be acheived with the larger calibers.

Using this logic I generally respond that if it's all about shot placement (only), then why not use a pellet gun.

Another inevitability is that regardless of what the thread was originally about, it will turn into either 1911A1 vs. Glock or some sort of caliber war.

Impressions...

You're a snob or wasted your money if you own a Kimber or any high end 1911. Hi-Points must be better because you paid less for them.

If you own the "right" gun during a SHTF scenario then you won't have to worry about food, water, or a nuclear blast.

You must vote for Ron Paul even if Hillary wins. (Not saying Ron is not the right guy, he just might not have what it takes to beat the liberal front runner)

12) Glocks will get thrown in the mix within 19 posts in any forum, and under 6 in a pistol subforum
Rats, I got beat out on that one.

Mention a Ruger, in any form, and somebody will inevitably bring up Bill Ruger's "sellout" statement.

21) Someone posts a picture of their new AK, it inevitably has an M4, collapsable stock on it. We all recoil in horror, but say nothing, as nobody wishes to discourage someone with their new purchase.

22) Ron Paul can now walk on water and shoot lasers from his fingernails.

23) What gun for [insert improbable situation here]

24) let me see your [insert bad idea]

25) someone will have a brilliant suggestion about how to carry concealed. This suggestion will unfortunately violate all rules of contemporary fashion and gentleman like behavior and essentially mark the carrier as having a gun. (*cough* fanny pack *cough*)

26) Someone will discuss repealing the 1986 machinegun registry closure. Good ideas will follow, until someone hijacks the thread with talk of legalizing nukes.

The moderator will always get the last word and post their opinion on the subject just before locking down the thread.

Someone please make me a moderator.

Original poster will ask (something like), I need a pistol. Should I get a semi-auto, or a revolver.

Someone will say "shotgun."

Haha, I was just going to add something similar.

"Trying to decide between a S&W or a Walther"

"Get an XD."

OP: What would you do in this improbable home-invasion.
A: Well, I'd carry out this overly-complicated tacticool response, probably involving training I'm not good at and an excessive amount of gear.

...also someone will say tacticool

...someone else will point out that they have a big dog.

27) In the weekly "Which .22 should I buy?" post---8 out of the first 10 responses will be "10/22"---Then all of us Marlin 60 fans will pile on for the next 12 out of 15 or so posts (and, of course, the CZ will account for all of the remaining posts).

28) Start with a .22.

29) Whatever you buy for [targets/hunting/SHTF/CCW], every collection needs at least one .22.

30. Any thread mentioning Michael Moore or Rosie O'Donnel will contain a joke about their weight within 3 posts of the first mention of the name.

31. Any thread about Glocks will have at least one post bashing them because they are plastic, but a thread about XD's will never mention that fact.

32. Any thread discussing accuracy will contain a post from someone bragging that their ---- will shoot 1" groups at 500 yds all day long.

33. If someone asks which gun should they buy, and a garand is one of the choices. That is the one most people will recommend. (Not that tha's a bad thing.)

34. You will never see a thread bashing the Garand, perhaps someone will bash their particular Garand, but never the Garand in general.

35) Sooner or later every "What gun for...." (and even political threads) will turn
into a zombie version.
36) Bear threads will turn into caliber wars.
37) Every week will have a new bear thread.
38) Every week will have a new caliber war. :neener:

In the reloading forum, any question about "which press" will result in a battle over blue vs red.

Any question about the suitability of a minor caliber will result in the phrase "I wouldn't want to be shot with one". It's true though, I've probably said it myself. Maybe I am getting burnt out.
