55. Someone will defame Evan Marshall, Ed Sanow or Massad Ayoub, or all three.

56. In any discussion of a 'new' firearm or concept, some old-timer will point out how that particular concept was employed in 1926 on an experimental shootin' iron or cartridge designed by Paul Mauser, Arthur Savage, J. M. Browning or P. O. Ackley. Sonny.

57a. Any post about Massachusetts will elicit a near-immediate response from some in New Hampshire calling it "Taxachusetts" and blaming all the crime in the Granite State on people from the urban areas in Mass.

Abstract

58. If the discussion is abstract enough, someone will post a rambling, metaphorical, personal anecdote that illustrates . . . something. That person might well be me.

godforbidifanyoneshouldtypeasentencelikethisastherewillbeendlesspersecutionofthedimwit.

Or if someone writes that they need to know where they can buy a couple clips for their 9mm, you can darn well bet your payckeck that 2 or 4 folks will immediately chastize that writer that it is a MAGAZINE.

59. If you try to post something politically humorous in the legal and political forum you will inevitably find out how few people have a sense of humor.:banghead:

THR thread inevitabilities

What would we talk about without ...
  • SHTF in general, zombies in particular
  • What gun for _____?
  • What gun for $X?
  • 9 vs. .40 vs. .45
  • AR vs. AK (and now also vs. Mosin-Nagant)
  • revolver vs. auto
  • Glock vs. 1911 vs. everybody else
  • Mini-14/Taurus/Jennings/whatever sux!|rulez!
  • Hi-Pointes are ugly (well duh!)
  • Ruger sux (Bill and/or his company)
  • What should I get to start reloading?
  • it's a magazine, dummy, not a clip!

Think I've been around for a while?

60. People will ask about this "NyTrilium"- but I just found something out. The makers of Extreme Crap (#61, by the way) sell just the Fang Face bullets, so us reloaders can afford to test the product extensively before we decide it's not worth carrying.

62. Threads in L&P will invariably contain one of the following words: Sheeple, Democrats, Rebublicraps, Hitlery, or Jewliani

63. Any time someone makes a rude comment, another poster will respond with an equally rude comment about how they didn't take "the high road."

In the staff forum, we have a running joke about how whenever certain topics are brought up, I have to kill a kitten.

I'm going to have to stomp a sack of them after this thread. :)

65) In the caliber pissing war between .45 and 9mm, the RC Cola drinker of the handgun world will champion .357 sig.

And if the discussion is about shotguns.....

Someone will ask if the Loudenboomer 3000 made in Uzbekistan in an old tractor factory and sold in box stores for $199 on sale is as good as a US made repeater with a long record of use and dependability available used for $199 if you keep your eys open, and......

Someone else will post a pic of their Loudenboomer, gussied up with lazer, ammo carriers,an AR style collapsible stock, optic sights and an overall black paint job and brag about how BAD it looks but never mention how it shoots. And....

Someone else will declare the Loudenboomer is utter trash but their Remchesthacaberg is the baddest thing since chipped flint while posting numerous pics showing a gleaming shotgun with absolutely no wear marks and....

Someone else will denounce that choice while touting their imported from Brescia Pastamatic as the ULTIMATE close range Zombie Stomper and post myriad pics of it in showroom floor condtion, and....

The poor mod will wonder if any of these folks have EVER been seen actually shooting and will then head off to the range where he will shoot with folks with old, plain shotguns and actually HIT things with them.....

9) Any thread about Ron Paul will result in someone talking about how he compares to Fred Thompson. Followed by someone else bring up the Patriot Act and then before long we all start to realize how screwed we are.

And any thread about Fred Thompson will draw a comment within 5 posts that he sucks and Paul is the only way to go.

66). There will be a new thread every week by a noob who has just discovered Mosin Nagants.

67). There will be a new thread every week by a long-time poster who has just rediscovered his love for Mosin Nagants.

68). There will always be Nagant threads.

69) This one goes along with the earlier posts of wanting to know about Option A or Option B and being recommended Option C. A poster will ask for gun recommendations for a particular purpose. Despite a number of guns rather well suited for this purpose, the poster will insist that the board only chooses between two rather bad decisions. Examples of this are, "I need a gun for concealed carry, should I get a Kel-Tec PLR-16 in .223 or a Colt 4th model derringer in .22 short. I like the size of derringer but the power and capacity of the PLR-16. Please don't recommend any other guns as these are the only two I will consider." Despite the fact this is an asinine question, a lively debate will follow about the two options. Should anyone dare suggest a reasonable option, perhaps any of the 50 or so popular guns that would be several orders of magnitude more appropriate for the task, they will be informed of the original poster's desire and chastised for not reading the original post.

70) Dozens of various people will ask for recommendations in various threads. One poster will recommend a certain gun in each and every case as being the perfect gun for the task. If you check the poster's history, you will find that he is 17 and went handgun shooting for the first time two months ago. His uncle has the handgun in question and after firing two magazines worth of ammo, the poster has decided that this gun is fit for every purpose under the sun. It is also available in Ghost Recon.

71) The poster will experience a slight inconvenience at a store that makes the majority of its revenue from the sales of firearms, ammo, and related items. Despite the minor and seemingly reasonable inconvenience, the poster will declare that said business is antigun/antifreedom, has violated his second amendment rights, and needs to be forever boycotted. The store's offenses would be such flagrant infringements as asking the poster to wait a moment while the cashier changes the register tape, only stocking 3 flavors of 6.5 Grendel ammo, or not allowing customers to wander around the aisles of the store carrying open range bags full of shooting equipment. Several posters will agree and declare that almost every gun store is antigun/antifreedom as they require payment for a gun with which to exercise one's rights. Anyone who replies saying that they like the business in question or posts that the transgressions didn't constitute infringement will be labeled as antigun/antifreedom and/or a corporate shill.

72) A poster with almost 1000 posts advising folks in subjects from gun selection to small group tactics to proper shooting technique will come forward one day with a celebratory post saying that he has finally bought his first gun and went shooting for the first time. He will express his surprise at how loud guns really are and that the recoil is something more than he expected. He will then ask for a recoil pad suggestion for his new Ruger 10/22 to go with the muzzle brake/laser sight he is ordering.

73) Someone will be offended by my rampant fact/logic-based hysteria bashing and I will get a PM asking if am I just an "angry old **** head". I will laugh and reply that I am not that old. ;)

74) Inevitably every day here I will learn something, laugh at something, sigh forlornly at the state of the world, and hopefully share something useful or funny. That was so sappy I'm going to go kick my own ass.

67). If two people are arguing about in issue, with in 5 posts one of them will start making personal attacks and/or comment on the other persons spelling. Or a 3rd party jumps in making a personal attack about one of the original two.

68). when a new member asks for help about what gun/s to buy, everyone helps and says welcome.

69). Every 2 weeks a question comes up about why ear plugs are needed and/or do you really have to wear them all the time. What about out doors? Followed by someone saying they have perfect hearing and dont use ear plugs. Followed by someone saying get a test and prove it.

70). IF some one has a question people will spend an hour or more to find that link that will help answer the OP question.

67). If two people are arguing about in an issue, with in within 5 five posts one of them will start making personal attacks and/or comment on the other persons person’s spelling. Or a 3rd party jumps in making a personal attack about one of the original two.

78) People without a Year I understanding of Physics are quite happy to lecture on how Incorrectly Applied Fluid Dynamics Principle X does/doesn't work in this/that cirumstance.

79) Any discussion of modern military rifles inevitably results in a debate about the long range performance of 5.56x45mm NATO.

80) Any discussion of bullpup rifles results in a bunch of people who have never held one arguing about their inferior handling qualities.

81) Everyone on the internet is good looking and an excellent shot. :D

82) People don't read beyond the second post before giving their divine insight into the OP's subject. (Sometimes, the OP's post.)

(ORLY? YA RLY. Do you see what I did there?)

If the thread gets to three pages or longer, someone will read the first post on page one, skip to the last page and post something that was already brought up on page 2.
