Today isn’t a national holiday, but it should be

I'm still waiting on the Vanguard Sporter I ordered a couple months ago. Of course the distributors are busy filling the big box store orders before they get around to sending mine to my small town LGS. Not like I need it right now, but they've been back on the available status on Weatherbys website for about a month now. I've got the scope, bases, and rings sitting here patiently waiting. Bunch of test ammo loaded, I'm hoping to get the call soon.

I had 2 custom rifles built that could have been chambered in any caliber under the sun.

I picked the .308 win. And why wouldn’t I? It’s the greatest cartridge ever devised by man.

My wife would be bored to Death.
No way is she ever interested in gun chat (she studied Voice..."1/2" of a PhD)- even though her late father strolled into Hermann Goering's Bavarian Haus in May '45 and "liberated" a few of Hermann's handguns...but had no records of their provenance.

The furthest target I've ever tried to hit is a large metal plate at 500 yards. The friend's typical 1970's bolt-action .308 with a Vortex scope allowed me to hit the plate. The rifle is near-mint, came with the nice scope already sighted in when he received it as a gift from the widow of an older coworker at Fedex.
He hit the 500 gong twice.
You can't really see the plate without a scope, and the club's X.O. told us, because of the ammo box's info on a "5' drop at 500 yards (12x5), to raise the scope's index and put the lower "12" index on the gong.
Luckily it worked as he recommended.
