Top 10 Manly guns

How is the Glock manly?

I wonder about that too. Great gun and uber reliable but manly:confused:

Now, as to manly, the Desert Eagle is possibly one of the manliest ones but is absent from the list.

LMAO on that list.

As manly as the SMLE is (and it is) and/or as is the M44 (no argument there boyo), I'd have to put either/or the 03 Springfield/M1 Garand in lieu thereof, but then the commentary might not be as humorous.

The only one I don't got is the Barrett (probably never will), so instead I look for a Marlin Guide Gun in either .45-70 or .450, either of which is extremely "manly" unto itself (tho a Winchester 1895 in .30-06 or .405 Win should fit the macho bill).

That was funny. As was his 25 Manly Movie list.

Perhaps sometimes it's manly to be realistic and practical?

I agree the Desert Eagle is not a practical gun, I certainly do not own one and have no desire to own it but it looks manly, that was my point. By the same token, the Barrett .50 should get out of the list too. There is nothing practical about it.

SMLE - Can't argue with probably the most successful bolt action military rifle ever.
ya im a huge mosin fan, and even i will agree the Mausers take that claime.

And, that's GLOCK, not Glock.

and you probibly own 1911A1's or 1911 clones. but il let it slip this time.

Someone needs a Top 20 list! The person who compiled this list probably based it primarily on what he owns, not knowing much else outside of what's on the list. Glock just "might" come in at #20 on my list, and there are smaller caliber rifles much lighter in weight than the Barett M82A1 50 BMG which will perform well out beyond 1,000+ yards. A 50 caliber might be considered "manly" but I'd rather focus on the .270, 30-06, and 7.62 cartridges. Too bad there isn't a semi-auto in .270. I'd buy it yesterday.

Remember: "Manly" is not just about being brawny. It's combining that with what's sensible and right for any condition.

The Desert Eagle is NOT a manly gun. It is a WANNABE-MANLY gun, used by wussified metrosexual hyper-liberal hollywood types who want to compensate for their utter lack of manliness, which becomes so negative as to warp space-time and actually create a kind of schwarzchild radius of anti-manliness. They believe people will not see this seething hole of anti-manliness that surrounds them when they clutch a Desert Eagle in their carefully manicured hands in a pathetic attempt to project a manly image in some movie or tv show. Real men do not have to try to project an image of manliness, and hence have no use for a Desert Eagle. They use real guns, because Practical IS manly.;)

He forgot to add in the 600 Nitro Express Revolver and the 50BMG single shot pistol. Now them there are Manly guns.

Gotta throw a double-barrel coach gun, Garand, & mega-belted magnum rifle in there somewhere. Pitch the Glock . . .

#10 Double Action Revolver, adjustable sights, 4 inch barrel minium, .357 magnum or larger chambering. Nothing says manly like a solid wheelgun.

#9 K-31 swiss. A surplus firearm gem. Half the incredible accuracy comes from a wonderful gun, the second comes from the wonderfull cartridges. I think you would be hard pressed to select more bang for your buck in the world of surplus rifles. If you don't own a K-31 but instead own a Mosin-Nagant instead, you may claim 1/2 man points, your tetosterone pointed you in the right direction, but your brain let you down, should have spent a little more for something much more wonderful. If you have 3 or more Nagants, stored for TEOTWAWKI, you may claim a full man point. If you own a K-31, Mosin-Nagant, Mauser 98K, and SMLE, you may claim one bonus man point.

#8 12 guage repeating shotgun with full length magazine tube, pump or semi-automatic. Nothing says 'time to clean house' like buckshot. Nothing says 'chase that grizzly out of your tent' like 12 guage slugs. You may claim 1/2 man point if you have a 12 guage with sporting length barrel and sporting length magazine tube, but have something beyond birdshot in the tube instead. If you have the above sporting setup in 10 guage, you may claim full man point.

#7 Battle rifle. G-3, FN-FAL, M-14 and the like. True power, large capacity, rugged battle proven firearms.

#6 Springfeild XD in 45 ACP. With a polymer pistol this size with 13 shot capacity, there is no need for 40 or 9mm, only take half a man point if you have them. If you possess a double stack 1911, for example a Para-Ordinance P13, no need to duplicate it with a polymer double action, you may count such a gun both here AND in the #2 spot. If you own a glock purchased after 2001, take away 1/2 man point for being unable to think for youself now that there are a wide array of equally quality polymer pistols on the market, if you really selected a glock above all of it's competition for it's great features, you would have had one back in 1990.

#5 AR-15, manly rifle carried by men AND women in today's army. If you have an AR-10 instead, score one bonus man point.

#4 Sig 210. A classic gun of great refinement, enough to make up for the lackluster cartriges it is avaible in. This gun is the cufflinks and tie tack on your man-suit.

#3 M1 Garand, the rifle that sent the Germans and the Japanese running. Chambered in then 30 year old 30-06, the cartridge that refuse to die. You many substitute semi-only variants of the M-14 for M1 Garand if you didn't serve in WW II.

#2 The venerable 1911 in any incarnation. Full manpoint if it is in 45 acp. Half man point in 38 super. 1 and 1/2 man points if it is in 10mm, 45 super, and the like. No points if your 1911 is in 9mm, 40, etc.

#1 Long range bolt gun, minimum .270/.308 chambering. A real man knows that when it comes time, it is better off to kill him before he can get in range of you. The power to stop a truck with the portability of a light backpack, this weapon deemed 'queen of the battlefield' is your true symbol of manlyness in the same way the sword of the middle ages marked the knight. No points if the recoil is greater than you can handle. One bonus man point for 300 winmag class catridge, AND you are able to put 1 MOA groups on paper at 300 yards. 1 and 1/2 bonus man points for 338 Laupa class cartridge AND you are able to put 1 MOA groups on paper at 500 yards. 1 and 1/2 bonus man point for 'africa big 5' grade chambering that you can handle quickly and accurately enough to hit a fast moving pop-up at 50 yards.

Penalty man points

- You gain no points for having a .22LR rifle. However, you are penalized 1 man point if you do not own one or have ready access to one.

-You loose 1 man point if you possess a Desert Eagle. A real man is also real. this penalty will be waved if you also possess more than 6 OTHER handguns, then it is really about having a fun toy, not because you think it is useful or makes you a bada$$

that pic of DIRTY HARRY is my favorite handgun pic of all time.. every time i watch the dvd i hafta pause it in still mode for awhile.... the most manly gun i've ever see or shot was my friends .50 bmg mc bros bolt rifle...

Geez....

I own or have owned everything on that list except for the .50.

I feel so freaking manly I think I'm going to buy a codpiece and strut around the mall wearing it.

Yarrr...

:)

that pic of DIRTY HARRY is my favorite

Except . . . truth be known, Harry actually sported a Model 57 . . . the armory supplying the movie set couldn't come up with a Model 29. I'll sub the 41 mag for the 44 . . . (darn near as potent & it shoots flatter).

"How is the Glock manly?"
"I wonder about that too. Great gun and uber reliable but manly"

great and uber reliable is deffinatly on my list for a manly man. ;) so i say the glock is in.....
-liz
