What's the top 5 on your "List"? The RULES: The list isn't "grail gun" "pie in the sky" "win the lottery" items. They are not pie in the sky, but the actual gun related items that I will actually buy in the order shown as my gun fund allows. Ammo and reloading components don't count - that's too obvious. I do review the list and change items and priorities from time to time, but currently, here are my top 5 items, in priority order and reason why:

1. Near MFG Picatinny Base for my Sako 85: Why? I updated my scope and don't ever want to have the issues I had with rings and bases on my Tikka M695 (Millet Angle Locks - I'm looking at you! You don't know what you don't know until you know. The shop that I bought the gun from grabbed them to mount my scope. I'll cut them some slack, they were probably the only ones they had on hand that day compatible with the Tikka and I didn't know better. Lesson learned. Buy once, cry once.) I have a pair of ARC rings ready to go once I get the base.

2. S&W 686 Plus. Bonus if I find a 686-4 Plus (and more foam ear plugs): Why? I don't have a revolver, and if I'm going to get a revolver, I've decided this is the way. And I forgot to add the Kestrel to my list, which bumps a suppressor to No. 6.

3. Tisas 1911 9mm: Why? "Cheap" practice with a 1911 manual of arms.

ETA: 4. Kestrel Anemometer: Why? Better D.O.P.E. for long range shots.

5. Range finder binoculars: Why? Missed opportunity on a nice buck with a monocular rangefinder with a coated small objective in low light and I couldn't clearly pick out the deer at distance because it was getting to be low light (I could see the deer plain as day through my scope and standard binoculars).

6. 30 Caliber Suppressor: Why? I was a tanker. I like shooting. My hearing is really bad (according to my wife).

So, the "Top 5 Might-Actually-Buy Gun Things?" I'll play. In no particular order:

1. A Savage .22. I've never had one and I have a lot of fun with a Mark II FV-SR.

2. Another Shield Plus, as a backup to my CCP.

3. A different Shield Plus, this time the 4" PC version.

4. Edited to remove ammo choice. I missed that restriction in the rules. A Browning Hi Power or clone. These might be out of reach, but if I get lucky, I might find one I could afford.

5. Another suppressor, probably for a .45 acp.

There are no firearms on my list currently. In fact, I should continue to downsize as I have opportunity. And I think I'm pretty set for optics. You ruled out ammo and reloading components so I can't include them (want some more quality .22LR ammo and some 7mm PRC brass). So priorities include:

1. Another year of my club membership; payment is due soon.
2. The hardware I need to hang the steel targets I bought a while back.
3. I'm due to take a good handgun course; it's been a few years.
4. Kestrel.
5. Thermal scope, though this may cross into the "pie in the sky" area.

Dang it. Kestrel! I need to update my list.

1. Nightforce NX8
2. Omega 300
3. 20 556 AK mags
4. Do something with a stripped Upper/Lower AR. Will be 1st "build" so unsure which direction.
5. ________ open for a spur of the moment want.

Well lets see, not in any particular order. Why? Just because...........

S&W Model 27. 3-1/2 inch, RR, WO, TT, TH, Blue
S&W Model 25-5. Same as above or as close to it as I can get.
Browning HiPower, Blue, Belgium Made
High Standard Victor
Nighthawk 1911

Honorable Mention but further down the list;
Blue Colt Gold Cup
Stainless Colt Gold Cup in 38 Super
Stainless Old Model Python
Contender Barrel in 45 Colt

Any of these could happen at any time. All I'll have to do is find them at a little less than panic prices.

To take care of the why question, almost every thing I buy is because I wanted it, no other reason than that.

1. If Colt/CZ is cooperative an Anconda in 45Colt
2. Henry 45-70
3. Uberti Schofield
4. Colt SAA 7.5” barrel .45Colt
5. I just have to have the new Bond Arms Cyclops 45-70…:D

1. Springfield M1A Scout with walnut stock.
2. Tisas 1911 Carry in .45 with 4.25 barrel. Probably stainless, but that's not decided.
3. Rossi model 92 in .357 Magnum, 16" barrel and stainless.
4. CZ 75BD.
5. _____ - for that great deal that I haven't stumbled upon yet.

This is in no particular order.

1 Winchester Model 63 Semi Auto Rifle .22LR
2 Winchester Model 92 45 Colt or 357/38
3 Remington revolver 1875 in 357/38
4 CZ 75BD 9 mm
5 Sig P210 9 mm old model, no current production.

Oh, I see what this thread is all about ... You're fishing for ideas!

Yep:uhoh:. Attached is my list that I was in the process of updating (it goes on for another 60 or so items) and thought I'd post what I was thinking at the moment and curious to know what other lists are out there. I bumped the LRF Binos up a notch and the suppressor down a notch and I've kind of decided to just keep a Tisas 9mm on the list and moved the 45 further down. But I've been actively looking for a used Kestral on FB Marketplace, trading post, etc. and I clearly forgot to add it to my list. So yes, interested in fishing for ideas (THR pretty much put the Tisas on the list), but the Kestral should have been on my list. Rest assured, my list has now been properly updated.

1. Kel-Tec P32 - I'm honestly surprised it wasn't on my list before, when I made the decision with my LCP to switch to FMJs. My new LGS has a lot of Kel-Tec stuff, and they get them in quite often. And a holster or clip.
2. Mossberg Shockwave, if I find one with the crimson trace saddle already on it. Seems like a fun gun to shoot.
3. Kel-Tec KSG - It was one of two items I was waffling between at my last trip to the LGS, and instead I ordered the .50 GI conversion kit for my Glock 21. I wanted to do a little more research on the KSG before I picked it up. And a red dot and light.
4. Ruger SP101 or another heavy, small-frame or medium-frame .357 magnum revolver. Right now I have an LCR, which is a little bit too small and way too light. (But it's nice to carry). I also have a GP100, which is a little bit too big for my hands to comfortably shoot in single action. An SP101 would be just about right (used to have one, gave it to my Mom). Or maybe another similarly sized revolver.
5. A rifle. I can't be more specific. Might be semi-automatic. Or lever action. Maybe even pump action, if I can find one of those I like. But I only have one rifle at the moment, so another would be nice.

1) CZ 75B in 40S&W
2) Chiappa M1-9 with wood stock.
3) Thompson Center Dimension barrel in 7mm-08 or .308
4) 30 caliber suppressor.
5) M1 Garand in .308

This list is fluid and changes on a daily basis except for the CZ.

1) RIA m206 .38 spl revolver --- an inexpensive snubbie for glove box duty
2) m4 real-deal Colt or clone upper to finish a build that's been sitting
3) a second CZ 50 in .32 (like one I bought...want to see if I can mod up the trigger, polish, etc)
4) 2nd Glock 19 gen 4
5) Auto combat shotgun of some variety (not sure...this is the least of my list!) --NL

  1. Rossi 92 with a 20" blued barrel in 357
  2. A Colt SAA clone with a 7.5" barrel in 357
  3. Glock 20 mos in 10mm
  4. Savage model 10 in 6.5 creedmore
  5. 30 cal suppressor
Doable, but it'll take me some time to collect them.

The super long term list looks a little different:
  1. M1 Garand
  2. M1 Carbine
  3. Mauser k98k
  4. Lee Enfield mk4 no. 1
  5. Remington model 8

1. An original Lyman Bowling 10 gauge muzzle loading over/under
2. An original J&S Hawken in 54 cal
3. My old GI Colt 1908 32
4. Colt New Frontier 44 7 1/2”
5. Numrich Arms 7 groove Zouave barrel

next to impossible in what time I’ve probably got left

1. 4" Colt Anaconda, recently announced
2. a nice 40S&W SIG P226 police trade-in for a rick bottom price
3. A high end match grade barrel for my CZ455
4. 4 or 5" S&W 9mm revolver, NOT PC, not Ti cylinder
5. the high end Magnetospeed

1. new press and some Martini-Henry dies.

2. Scope, rings, and cheek riser for my CZ527

3. a matchlock musket

4. Finn M39 Mosin

5. Hi Power or clone

Realistically all these keep getting delayed due to other shiny things that come along but if nothing else cool crossed my path these would be the queue.

Mine is easy.
1) for the slime that stole my granddaddy's 3 shot bolt action JC Higgins shotgun to give it back.
2) a NIB mid 1980's 4" 686
3) Early model Python with a 6" barrel
4) FA 454
5) Marlin 39AS

There is nothing on my list except making a couple of sets of grips for handguns I already own. One set is cut out and waiting. Wood for the other is here.

  1. some way to cover up the FUGLY rails that are on some of my pistols. Hate those rails.
  2. some new .380 ammo to try and see if it really is improved.
  3. a Pachanga worthy OWB holster for the little RIA Baby Rock 380.
  4. more range time.
  5. that the holsters I have on order finally come home and I get to carry my Browning BDA more often.
It would be great if both of the holsters really do get home before winter.

Context: too many guns, not enough range time.

1. Second range membership to a club with a 300yd range, steel plate racks, and allows “guests”. I love my current club membership-15 min. away, nice outdoor covered benches, low traffic-but no steel inside of 50 yards, 100yd max, no guests. Worth it to me to pay for both.

2. 3rd (possibly 4th) Vortex Spitfire prism optic. I have two already, shoot well with them and they are affordable. Looking to standardize my “red dots”.

3. 2nd small safe. I want to break up my firearms into “used often” and “used occasionally”. Besides, current safe is too small for what I have. Why not get a larger safe? Good question. I am leery of having something I can’t move myself (empty), and I like the option of splitting them up and putting them in two different locations.

4. Additional magazines. Just starting shooting some informal bowling pin and steel knockdown matches. It would be nice to have a full match worth of mags pre-loaded rather than fighting for bench space to reload at the match.

5. A weeks worth of vacation for range time to sight in and fine tune what I already have. Never seem to have the time to dedicate to doing this and I always feel rushed.

Bonus item: at least an hour with a good instructor to evaluate my pistol shooting.

Fun thread…definitely gave me something to think about.

“The list” consists of a Wilson Combat 1911, model to be determined once I start working again in the fall.

Further out in the “some day I’d like” would be a suppressor or two.
