The Trolley Square incident changed the home front here in Salt Lake City. My wife did not like me carrying concealed. She didn't mind the gun in the house for protection after a while and originally tried to talk me out of purchasing my first pistol. I actually carried for over a year and a half without her noticing. ( yes it can be done.) Later I joked with her that it was concealed and against the law for me to tell her. After that year and a half she knows that I carry but does not know when. (Almost all of the time).

So a week after the shooting at Trolley Square where we use to occassionally shop, her father says that I can't see carrying a gun and hurting someone. Without me saying a word she tells him how people should carry a gun and how people should protect their family. I'm happy to see the change. She then says to her Dad that I sometimes carry. I seize the opportunity and pull out my Kel Tec P3AT from my pocket and show him.

So now I carry and sometimes she will hug me and intentionally rub her hand against the gun (you know the actual pistol) and smile. Boy have things changed.

It's really sad that sometimes it takes a tragedy like this to make people realize they're not as safe as they think. I only hope that more people learn from events like this and realize that you really need to take charge of your own safety and that the government isn't there to provide you with personal bodyguards at your beck and call.

I have family in your area. They were "occasional shooters" only pulling out the irons maybe once a year. Since the incident their purchases have increased dramatically and two brothers and a sis-inlaw are scheduled to take a CCW class.

My mother didn't like the idea of one particular son having a firearm in "her" house (he's served 4 years in the Army). After a little talk about how it is all of our duties to protect family she understood and was happy to know he has had a pistol and is one of those getting his CCW.

Jorg that article is correct.

I sold my NAA Guardian to a man who claims he was at the Trolley Square shooting. He has a conceal permit but was not carrying that night and rarely carried his weapon. He said that he was hiding with several other people in one of the stores. He said that he could see the killer shooting his shotgun at the upper floor from where he was hiding.
