Anyone have some reloading data they would like to share for a good turkey load using 3" Cheddite / MultiHull and Sam 1 wads. I use this to load Steel waterfowl loads and am hoping there is some data for lead turkey loads. My older shotgun reloading books don't have any data for these hulls and of cource the steel books don't list any lead data.

Thanks

You gotta be REAL careful with shotgun loads. You cannot substitute ANYTHING. Shotguns only operate at maybe 14,000# and just changing primer brands can raise pressure by 7,000#

Look thru any load books and you'll see exact listings of every single component for every listed load.

I've never seen where a primer sub would raise pressures by 7K. I've heard of 1.5K, but not 7K. The Sam 1 is not the best lead wad, but there are some pretty good loads in the Hodgdon reloading site for longshot powder in the 1 7/8 oz load range in Rem 3" hulls. They use Rem wads and some use Win wads. These pattern exceptional with a good tight choke.

You could try contacting RSI. They will usually give you some good answers.

Like said above, it is very dangerous to change and component is a shotshell recipe. I highly suggest you use only published load data and follow the recipe exactly.
Hodgdon is a good online source and Lyman Shotshell Handbook 5th Edition is a very good source too.
Good luck...

It was in one of the load guides provided by the manufacturers. Since I don't have a pressure barrel and they do, I'm gonna trust them.

Ya Ya Ya I know this. Been loading shotgun for 30 years, Dad started me loading my own trap loads at 14 years old on a Mec I got for Christmas. I asked the question thinking someone might have some data for this hull, wad combination as my 30 year old books don't list anything. I got into loading steel about 10 years ago and purchased a couple steel loading books as well as a couple new shotgun loading books but none of the newer books list the Cheddite hulls except for steel loads. I have my trap, steel, slug and buckshot loads worked out and didn't want to purchase another book just for a turkey load.
I might just have to shoot my steel duplex load for turkey, it does a fine job on Honkers over decoys so I don't see why it wouldn't put the hurts on a Tom.
I was planning on calling RSI Monday to see if they have any data for these hulls with lead.

With all due respect, I've been loading shot shells for over 30 yrs. also, but I have never substituted components, it's a no, no.
If you would like I'll find you some of my old trusty turkey loads? I've killed more than 50 gobbs and guided many clients using approved recipes, it's your call?

I never said anything about substituting components. I just asked if anyone had any load data for a turkey load using the above componets thats all.
