ULTIMATE 9MM carry gun?

Springwalk, I look at real life performance, backed up by evidence. If you can post some actual tests that show the P7 actually outperforms something like the Glock or M&P in terms of durability, reliability, MTBF etc, I am all attention.

However, if money was absolutely not an issue, I would have Gaston make me a one off single stack G19....that would be the best.

We have been wishing for this for years, don't think Gaston is listening, thats why I got the PPS and haven't been happier.

The OP seems to be more motivated by hatred of plastic guns than anything else.

A lot of people in this thread seem to really favor the P7 too. While I must say that I'm a big P7 fan, I don't see how it makes a great carry gun. It's rather heavy for its size, and doesn't balance all that well in a holster. Most models have a slower to use heel magazine release and a low capacity single stack magazine to boot. A unique design and a well-built, accurate pistol, there is no question. But for a single stack 9mm it ought to be a lot lighter and thinner. If you want something that's all steel to carry, get a Kahr K9 or MK9.

CZ PCR from their Custom shop, good trigger, great sights, good all around concealed carry weapon. Could only be better if it was a single stack, manufacturers are double stack crazy IMO.

Ultimate in what way? It's only ultimate if the features the gun has interest you or are needed. I think we can all agree on a reasonable level of accuracy and reliability and I think most contemporary guns exhibit this. I personally don't think there is an "ultimate" anything, just what feels best to you and works best in "your" application. In 9mm I have a Star Firestar, Star M30 which are completely reliable an built like tanks and a Llama XI-A that "feels" just like a 1911 and has never failed me. None are the cost of an H&K, Sig, or even a S&W, but all are reliable and two are relatively easily concealed.

I do not carry 9x19 anymore. It has been replaced by lowly S&W 457. I found it is easier on my belt then either P7, or CZ75 I used to own. It's nice not have to rely on stupid HP bullets. I would pick S&W 3913 Laddie Smith if I had to carry a nine again.

The OP said "ultimate 9mm carry gun" ...wow, I'm so damn picky about dimensions of my EDC that I was(and am) very limited in my choices.
I carry a Taurus PT709 and its been awesome, that said if money was not an object when I was purchasing a new EDC(which it was) I would likely have gotten the ultimate 9mm carry gun a Kahr PM9 Black w/ Night Sights

Walther PPS

Mine has been reliable with no issues.

I am old school and think vinyl sounds better then downloads and CDs. I prefer tubes to solid state. I also prefer Weber carbs to modern fuel injection
because I prefer the sounds of a well tuned engine on the overrun to Diana Krall. Heck I prefer local wines. Remeber to buy VA wines and make some liberal in Claifornia whine.

I don't care what the handgun is made out of as long as it goes bang.

Just remember along with plastic guns the day of the polymer engine block is upon us. Only took about 25 years since the first runs raced at the Glen.

I have my fav 9mm concealed carry now :)

However - if money were no object, I'd buy a second on of these and then I might carry the extra one :)

I'd probably carry a 1911 custom built to my specs.

A 9mm operator with a full rail? Never seen one before. Does that thing have any recoil?

I think that it's hard to beat a PPS in 9mm (not 40). Mine has been flawless and very, very accurate. The only gun that has given me pause to reconsider is a recently acquired STI LS9. The only downside I'm finding is its weight.

After much trial and error for the past 8 years of owning Sigs, Glocks, Smiths, Berettas, the perfect carry gun is the Kahr PM9 for me personally. I've tried all kinds of expensive holsters too.

For my body type it's what conceals the best and I shoot it very well.

To me, concealed is small. So, if money was no object, I'd say Rohrbach R-9.
But, I'd also like a S/A EMP with a IWB holster. I have it's slightly bigger bother, the S/A Micro Compact and I can say, it lays flat and is easy to carry.

I'm not wedded to caliber though, and my Seecamp is a joy to drop in my pocket in a DelFatti holster.

My ideal CCW is slim, accurate, small enough to hide but big enough to shoot a lot and has good sights.

I've settled on the Kahr P9, small, sleek, thin, compact, accurate, Mepro sights, reliable, very light weight and a trigger I like, (not too heavy, not too light). I can carry either 7+1 or 8+1 mags, yet both allow a full grip. It comes in all black. Very easy to maintain. It has every thing I want in a carry except a hammer.

I considered the P7 but it is too heavy and the trigger too light for me. Great gun though.

I carried the HK P2000sk for years and I believe there's no better compact made, but it is pretty wide.

The Walther P99c is oh so close to the P2000sk. Another excellent choice.

The 3913 is the ultimate 9mm carry gun, for me.

Light weight, easily concealed due to its perfect size. 8+1 capacity. Reliable, accurate, low maintenance stainless finish, and looks good doing all that!

Kinda depends on what kind of a Size vs. Perfomance ratio you want.

My favorite 9mm CCW's:
Kahr Pm9
Kahr P9 (as thin as the pm9, just easier to shoot)
Hk P7 (weirdo, but if it works for you, it's priceless, 2lb trigger feel)
Dan Wesson CCO (more perfomance than the others by a mile, but heavier)

Tried some Walthers and Keltecs, usually the trigger was just a little too long or too stiff for me.

Someone's on a vendetta against either plastic or california today ... Did you not get your wheaties this morning?

Even if I was rich I'd still be carrying my Taurus 709 IWB. It's slim, reliable and easy to shoot well and I wouldn't cry if it got lost, stolen, broken, or confiscated by the police. An ideal carry piece IMO.

BTW, JW, whats wrong with your G30 threaded barrel?

Nothing is wrong with it. I sold my Glock 30 and the buyer didn't want the barrel.

I do like my metal guns. It's just not fun lugging them around all day. If you think about it, John Wayne carried relatively lightweight, compact, high capacity firearms for the day--it just happened to be a day where lightweight, compact firearms were still made out of steel and wood. Nobody was complaining that he shot a Winchester repeating rifle instead of "real rifle" like a Creedmoor Sharps or a Colt SAA instead of a .75 flintlock pistol :)
