Hello,

I could use some advise on upgrading to a better handgun. Currently I own a SW9VE Sigma. This was my first handgun and for what I paid for it new 2 years ago this is a good gun. I have put about 1400 rounds through this little wondernine with no jams and love the 15rd clips. I do not like however the heavy trigger which seems to make me shoot low and groups poor at 10yrds compared to the Glock.

I am thinking about selling it for $200-$250 and adding $300 to buy a new Glock 17 in the 9mm or possibly .45acp. My logic is to upgrade to a more durable pistol I can shoot for a lifetime, a easier trigger, and teardown and cleaning is the same. Should I upgrade or stick with what I have? Sorry if this has been beaten to death in another thread.

If you have the original box, manual, gear for it, and it's in good condition, and if it's stainless-steel, you can probably get close to $285 for it at a gunshow, at least around here.

Maybe list in in the THR Sales forums, things sell pretty quick there if you include a good pic. You can also hold out for a "FTF" (face-to-face) seller in your area, to avoid the whole shipping issue, just put "FTF only" in the title if so.

Oh, forgot to mention, yes, I'd sell it and buy either a Glock, S&W M&P, or XD9. If you only kinda like this particular pistol, and want one to keep for decades, you might as well upgrade to a pistol that you _really_ like.

An extra $200 (after the sale of your S&W) isn't that much when ammortized over the next 20 years.

You want a pistol to last you a lifetime in 9MM take a hard look at the CZ75B. Accurate, dependable and a proven design. Inexpensive your way as well.

Take Care

I have to agree with the others as well. I am not sure a Glock is necessarily an upgrade. There are many other manufacturers that produce quality semi-autos. I think we know who those are. Also, are you looking for SA/DA or DA only?

I just acquired a couple of new 9mm shooters that will shoot circles around the Sigma. I would recommend either as an upgrade to the Sigma (or the glock for that matter).

Walther P99 AS. But make certain it has the AS trigger.

Beretta 92FS

Both are reliable, very accurate, and easy to field strip. And there are sweet deals available for both if you look.

Whoever called a Glock an upgrade?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!

If you want to shoot it alot and then pass it on for several generations to shoot alot the solution is:
HK .45 Compact :D

While Glock may not be the only route to upgrade it is still an upgrade.

Going from a horrible copy of a glock to a glock is a big step. Like the others have said also look at the offerings by CZ and Springfield

Get the best you won't be sorry. 9mm is cheap If you plan to shoot a lot.

I spent a long time staying away from Glocks - bought them, sold them, blew one up. Finally, bought a G19 & found I really like it! From a Sigma??? Do it ASAP! ;) You're already use to how a poly gun would shoot and strangely, the Glock trigger v. the Sigma is a lot nicer!

My first thought was if the guy is going to upgrade to a Glock, what is he shooting now?

Honestly, if you want to upgrade, go with something like a Sig Sauer or an HK.:D

While Gaston Glock designs and markets excellent service pistols I have a hard time getting past the Unsupported chambers. I will try one eventually. Thousands of Police Departments can't be wrong. :)

Glock trigger nice!

I own several Glocks and the thing that keeps me coming back to them is the trigger action in rapid fire mode. That small release of the trigger after each shot and grabbing the sear is sweat! It makes for quick controlled fast shooting almost single action style without having to bang into the trigger like some models. There's never any play and in combat style shooting the control, low sight profile and great reliability make them addictive.

I hope the Delta Elite I just bought is as nice!

Well, I dunno... they can certainly be given an extremely good price "offer they can't refuse." When I worked at a local shop that was one main outlet, it was ridiculous the price LEO's got on Glocks. Of course, they wouldn't look at anything else.

I had a CZ PCR that had a few malfuntions every now and then. Go Glock!

What makes you think that Sigma isn't durable? You know that carries a lifetime warranty. As long as you don't blow it up with handloads, S&W will take care of you.

If you don't like that Sigma, by all means sell it and get what you want. You frequently run across people who state that life's too short to keep a gun you don't like. They're absolutely correct.

I bought my Sigma knowing full well what the trigger was like. It's a knock around gun for me. I know it will work and I won't be too upset if something happens to it.

I agree that if you want an upgrade, get an HK or a Sig.

The Sigma is probably just as reliable as a Glock, and the trigger is only moderately worse.

I own a Glock 19 and LOVE it! If you want a Glock, and CCW is in your future, may I suggest going with the compact G19 over the full-size G17? For the loss of two rounds, you get a smaller package that can be concealed easier.

:neener: to all the Glock-bashers, as far as I'm concerned! :D Though, if possible you might want to try out other guns as well to see if there's something you like better.

GLOCKS ROCK

As you can tell i like glocks, im not as fond of the 1st 2nd 3rd Gen. of them though. The new 4th Gen glock, they got it right. Foolproof, very reliable, and damn near makes you a competitive shooter right out of the box. Good stuff...
