URGENT: What if I refuse to pay for a gunbroker auction?

You didn't mention the price on the auction....Sniders are easily found in very nice shape and entirely shootable. https://www.ima-usa.com/collections/snider-rifle
I stooped at $900. The guy who won was originally going to get it around $660... which I felt the rifle was worth much more... so I ran up the bid :p

Case and point: deals can be found on gunbroker when it comes to antique firearms.

Wait a minute. Your first post made it sound like you were concerned with the condition of the gun you bid on. So if you looked at it would it be ok not to buy it and if there was any legal problems. Thats what I gave my answer on. Now you post this??? Sorry I replied to your first post and It may not be the High Road but I feel that is being a capital A-hole and you should be banned from GB for running up a bid you had no intention of buying and maybe from here if thats your practice. Thats my opinion.

No, I intended to buy it if I ended up being the high bidder. It got to the point where I decided to throw in the towel, but I will say I'm glad that the winner didn't get it for under 700. It was a nice piece.

You’re glad he didn’t get a good deal? I’m relieved you were there to screw that guy!

What I really want to say isn’t high road, so I’ll just call you ill-mannered.

I'm pretty sure the max bid he put was FAR higher than when I decided to stop bidding. Had he not bid so high and I won around the 850 mark, I would have been a happy winner who would have paid the seller. I'm glad the seller got a decent price for the rifle tho, had I not been there, he would have had to sell something at half the value it likely has!

After seeing how low the original winning bid would have been, I'm gonna start looking at antique rifles a lot more on GB from now on.

I'm sorry, you just admitted to "running up the bid" to block another buyer. But your first post was "Urgent, what if I refuse to pay for a Gunbroker auction". I buy things on GB and don't appreciate that kind of bidding. I'm done.
I didn't run up the bid on purpose, but after I stopped bidding, I kind of took a step back and said, "Huh, I kind of ran up the bid there."

He’s not alone, that’s why most items don’t end up being a deal for anyone at auctions.

I use to think gunbroker was a place to get a deal for used guns, but after the past year, I'll say that I've maybe gotten two good deals out of 10+ auctions.

Gunbroker is just a place to find something that's not made anymore that you want and can't find locally. It's all the more reason I'm just not interested in gunbroker much anymore.

Went from actively screwing a guy to inadvertently screwing a guy. Now you don’t even like Gunbroker much.

I’m fluent in a lot of things, but mealy-mouth isn’t one of them. I’m out.
