I have a choice between a model A UZI carbine and a PS90. Not sure which I want more. My friend has a PS90, and I've fooled with it enough to know I want the rail model becuase the reflex sight is hard for me to acquire. Never really fooled with an UZI.

they are both range toys.

The uzi has alot more potential as a SHTF gun, cheaper and plentiful mags, cheap ammo with tons of manufactures. The uzi also has alot of aftermarket parts, and will be alot cheaper to buy the weapon itself. the Uzi is also stupid simply to disassemble. Basically there are only a few parts, and you can have the the bolt out in a few seconds which means a critical jam is much easier to fix.

PS90 is lighter, has a greater range, has alot of the cool factor. its downside is that is high on a possible ban list ( at least the ammo is, and with only one manufacturer of ammo, it makes it a very risky buy), the weapon itself is overly expensive because its made in europe and subject the euro. its alot more complex of a weapon, and hense cleaning is more difficult.

I've owned both and would say without hesitation that I would choose the Uzi over the PS90.

After I got rid of my PS90 I picked up an IMI Uzi Model 45 in .45 ACP with the 9mm conversion kit. (see thread below)

Of the dozens upon dozens of guns I've owned over the years the Uzi ranks among my favorites. Although it may not be the most practical gun I own it's definitely the most fun gun in my collection and possibly have ever owned.

So far I've put about 600 rounds of 9mm through it and about 100 rounds of .45 and it's been 100% reliable. It's accurate, fun and suitable for plinking and personal defense. The PS90 makes a fine plinking rifle because it shoots a round with a very flat trajectory and good range, however as a defensive round I would sooner go with a 9mm.

Don't get me wrong FN makes a great product and if something goes wrong with the PS90 you can always send it back for repairs. However if something goes wrong with the Uzi then parts are cheap and easy to find and the simplicity of the gun makes it very easy to work on even if you're less than an amateur gunsmith. Also keep in mind that while FN may back the PS90 as product of theirs the Uzi has been around for nearly half a century and is a proven design with an interesting history behind it.

Go with the Uzi and if you don't like it sell it and then buy the PS90;)

I'd take the uzi, I like the looks of the PS90 but I don't want to spend over $1000 on a gun that shoots something only slightly more powerful than a .22 WMR.

The UZI would be the better choice in most any situation, I'd love to have both but the PS90 is overpriced and underpowered.

Price is about equal. 1700 for the UZI, 1900 for a PS90. If I get it I may do the SBR papers, but rather than slicing it off just do the trunion and restrictor ring to take the SMG barrel... I've done a little research on the UZI, just haven't ever tried one.

I would take the PS90 in 9mm hands down...but since they only use the sissy round...Uzi for the win! I am assuming that you are talking about the full size Uzi not the mini-Uzi, I personally don't care for the mini. It is too small to be a subgun and to large to be a pistol. The original Uzi has a good feel, a good action, and is about he right size in SBR configuration. I would like to get one, but my local sheriff hates me.

Oh, and look around, the price seems a bit steep for both.

GO UZI! I dont think you have to do anything to an UZI but unscrew the nut and take one barrel out and put another (possibly shorter) barrel in.

Silly question - Uzi of course!!!

They are a lot of fun. Mine's got the happy switch, but even in semi it is a crowd pleaser.

Many folks debate an Uzi usefulness for things other than range fun, but seriously, hasn't that question been solved long ago???

Uzi owner here. I use it for practice and matches that only allow pistol calibers due to range safety reasons.

PS90 has the advantage of larger mag capacity and exellent mag layout. Disad would be that FN's 5.7 isn't the most common cartridge. But than again neither is 9mmP recently.

The Uzi has aesthetics (for me) and is a classic design. Mags and other parts are much cheaper. Pretty good ergonomics too. OTOH, if you want optics the Uzi is not the platform of choice.

1700 for an uzi?? wha??

I grabbed my IMI action arms in september for $1000, and even though it may have gone up in price you should easily be able to find a vector arms for $1000 if not an action arms for a few hundred more. they are certainly not the same price range as PS90s.
