Wal-Mart 22 ammo

Stick with Feds

I've bought truckloads (I told ya a million times not to exaggerate) of the Federal Bulk 550 packs at WallyWorld. Not a problem - a couple of duds per carton, not particularly dirty, accurate enough at thirteen bucks and change, as pointed out.

NO, I wouldn't shoot "match" with them - or sight in a weapon, for that matter  but for offhand and plinking with my kids, it's a pretty good deal. I remember buying bricks of .22 ammo at Target stores for ten bucks in the late 1970s, so you're getting a pretty fair deal, particularly considering lead and brass prices :what:

Wal mart didn't make the bullets, Remington did. I have noticed that Remington ammo lately really sucks. I use the Federal bulk packs, and don't have as much trouble. I also buy them at Wal mart, but I wouldn't blame them for a bad product , just buy something else if your are dissatisfied.

I have both Golden Bullets and Thunderbolt. The Golden Bullets seem to work fine but I have no idea why I haven't discarded the Thunderbolts.

I buy the Federal 550 round bulk packs from Wal-Mart, I'm happy with this ammo, very few issues. I'll continue to buy it, seems to be among the best bulk ammo.

ive used both the rem 550 packs as well as the Feds. Both have been fine but the feds tend to have a lot less failure to fire than the remington golden bullets.

As for price. Does anyone have a better source of buying .22 in bulk for less than wal-mart? If so, please post links or numbers!

Outdoor world is a bit more expensive than wal-mart. They sometimes have ammo on sale, but theres no way i knowing unless you go there often...which i dont. So any sources to acquire cheap ammo would be much appreciated!

I've got a bakers dozen 22's, both rifles and handguns. The only ammo I use is Federal Bulk pack that I get at Wally World. It's probably not "the best" in any of them, but it's "good enough" in all of them.

walmart is pretty much the cheapest place for federal $12 value packs. jsut remember that walmarts in nicer neighborhoods have price adjustments based upon the median income of the neighborhood it's in. i went to a walmart near a ritzy area and the federal was $15 instead of $12, and the 9mm $22 instead of $18.

i thought ammo prices in walmart were all the same no matter where the store is... interesting...

as for ammo prices...im not limiting the option to just "value packs". If anyone knows of any other brands being sold in bulk please share =)

I buy the Federal 550 Bulk packs at Walmart. Great plinking ammo, cycles all my semi-auto pistol and rifles also. I buy at least one brick whenever I stop in there. I've never had that good of luck with the Remington bulk .22's from Walmart. In my personal experience, Remington rimfire is generally dirtier than most brands also. My three rimfire standards are CCI Mini-Mags, CCI Blazers, and Walmart Federal 550 bulk packs (not Federal Champions). From what I understand, the brown boxed 550 Federal bulk packs are a Walmart exclusive. The blue or gray Federal Champions are not.

BTW- I noticed Walmart has officially changed how their name is splled out. There is no more word separation, it's just Walmart. I noticed their new TV ads spell it this way now.

I bought a 550 round box of Winchester ammo, and I found that my rifle was jamming excessively. It was a .22 Marlin, semi-auto.
The rounds wouldn't eject, so I got home and cleaned the action thoroughly, went out the next day and didn't have a single misfire or jam.
I think discount ammo is usually somewhat less powerful than the 'better' stuff. We always ran CCI mini-mag through it and never had a problem. Of course, mini-mag is high velocity (highER anyways)

The local WMT Federal "Value Pack" [550 rounds] price recently increased from $11.97 to $13.47 [:(] but they are still the best buy.....

I bought a bunch of GBs before I read that they were crap. I never had any problems with it. Ran great in my Ciener'ed AR15 and 1911, as well as my 10-22s. Then I got through four of the boxes and started shooting from another lot.

It was then that I understood all of the "GBs are teh suck" comments. A lot of them had to be hit twice to fire, and some just refused to fire. Not to mention the feeding problems. That one lot ran great, musta been a fluke load.

Now I mainly shoot Federal bulk pack and I dont have near as many problems.

My whole point wasn't to bad mouth walmart, I buy alot of stuff there. My point is Remington selling inferior ammo when they must know its crap.

.HAVE NOT had any FT Fire but plenty FT feed in the cheep stuff,
it is not top shelf for sure.

out of the 3, win, rem , and fed. the fed did the best

I tried the Rem GB with my Ruger MK3 target and had nothing but problems. I gave most of them away as they were just to big of a headache to use. Now I mostly use the Federal Champions (510) from Walmart and haven't had any problems. The CCI mini mags work great too but they are quite a bit higher in price.
