Wal-Mart limiting ammo now?

Also, I wouldn't put a hard limit on people for quantity.

I would put out only a few boxes at a time. Raise prices considerably.
"This is all I have"
Person cleans me out.
Wait till they leave.
Put out a few more boxes.

I know someone that works at wal-mart, seems the ones that just sell muzzle loaders or just a few guns are not really going to keep up on ammo. Thats true here, one walmart has next to nothing an another store 30 miles away stays pretty well stocked, an have alot more guns for sale.

Around here Walmart will sell you all you want.

Too bad the shelves are empty.

We can't get any kind of quantity. I shoot .45ACP. We get 1 box (50 rounds) of CCI Blazer Brass .45ACP a week. It's usually gone before I have a chance at it. We did luck out recently and get the two cases of 9mm WWB Value Packs, and 1 case of .45 ACP WWB Value Packs we ordered about three months ago! I did get one box of the .45's. :)

Do you speak for all the doomsayers or is that just your opinion?

My opinion... based on the past anti-gun history of the people in power in our federal government. All three branches.
You may as well stick your head back in the sand now.

Just made a trip a couple of hours away and checked out the WallyWorld there while I was in the vicinity. No 9mm, for sure, though he did have some boxes of .40S&W in stock. I asked about limiting customers to a couple of boxes, and he shook his head: "First I've heard of it," he said. "Getting it is the problem."

Amen to that. I tried another large gun seller in town, the Big R, and they were stacked to the gills with customers but had no 9mm. A local specialty shop a couple of miles further also had no ammo at all.

I'll say it again: Stop this, people. Stop the hoarding.

I kinda hope that wal mart does set a limit to how much somebody can buy. I wouldn't mind being able to just pick up a box every once in a while without having to go to 3 gun shops looking for the ammo I want.

Well I am not a hoarder, But I keep at least a 1,000 rounds per caliber or enough for 3 or four trips to the range. I presently have 32 surplus .50 cal ammo boxes with assorted, but mostly 9MM & 40 cal. We also do group buys off the net to save a buck or two when they have sales. But some dealers will not sell large orders on the advertised sales prices.

I do without before I pay the outrageous prices that the gun dealers are asking

Wal Mart ammo...

I just got back from the local Wal Mart having gone for some 45acp rounds. The shelves were empty, literally. Plenty of 12 gauge and 40 cal but otherwise a mere scattering of some ammo but no 45, no 9MM, no 38, no 357 I would say the shelves were at 30 to 40 % capacity with the remaining 60 to 70 % empty.
I asked why? The reply was the minute it goes out it gets bought up. I asked all of it? She said yes sir. People are scared that the price is going to go up was her reply. And she looked annoyed having to answer me!

Anyhow... No 45 acp tonight.

I just learned of an interesting development. One local big box store put a limit on ammo because a local FFL was regularly cleaning them out of pistol calibers, taking them back to his shop and marking them up 50%...Nice!

I FOUND AN AMPLE SUPPLY OF .45!!!! I'm not so silly that I will reveal my source, but just wanted everyone to know if you look long and hard, you will find it. I just bought 1000rnds for $310 out the door. That's even cheaper than wallyworld sells it for(when they have it). This place has a range, and I was astounded when they told me I could buy all I wanted, and then asked which calibers I would like. Even the ranges I've been to won't sell to you unless it's for use in their range. This shop had some pretty good deals on guns too, a pre-ban egyptian AK for $550!!! I haven't even been able to find a wasr for less than $650. They even had a 1894C on the rack, $489, that's $30 cheaper than the only other one I've found in 5 months of looking, so I put it in layaway. Now I just have to catch freight coming through here more often!!! I should be able to get that rifle paid for by my friends looking for ammo if I'm not careful:)

As posted earlier:

"I think all gun stores should limit us to 2 boxes of ammunition (100 rounds) per month. It's really just "sensible." After all, who really needs more than 100 rounds per month except for crazy gun nuts who hoard 100's and 100's of rounds of ammunition?"

How about someone like me who shoots a total of 3-400 rounds per day of shooting?

idoono

Well, figure 350 rounds times 5 days a week (weekends off of course), times 52 weeks....that's 91,000 rounds and around $18,000 a year.

Stop using all our ammunition up Mr. greedy pants. :D

I guess I'm in the minority here, but its supply and demand, free enterprise and consumerism at work. That is the American way. Sometimes the prices and availability of certain good or services spike or dip due to social changes.

It is one of the aspects of living in a free and open society.

Gas, milk, ammo, Iphones, tickets to winning team's games, whatever...it happens.

WE should not have limits on how much we can purchase. That's what Anti's want. Once a restriction is in place it will be hard to get rid of. Lots of people are profiting on FEAR of no ammo. We all want cheap ammo. It is available, but it is being resold at a profit since nothing else can turn a fast buck.

I was at a local Wally world this morning. There were 3 of us in line. 1 ahead of me and 1 behind. First guy asked for .45 acp, they had none on the shelf. Clerk went to the back and brought out 1 case of 100 round value packs. The guy ahead of me bought 1 box. When it was my turn I asked if there was any more in the back. Clerk says no this is it. I asked the guy behind me if he was looking for 45 and he said he wanted 1 box. I told the clerk I would take the other 3 boxes and 5 (100) round boxes of 9x19. The guy behind me said thanks bro. I would have bought it all but I would have also let him have 2 boxes if he said he wanted it. Right is right and it aint like I am short stocked.;)

Well, even if we are suffering a run up in prices and the frustration of empty shelves, just consider that what you might be getting for your inconvenience is a frightening message sent to Washington, DC.

Don't you think that these clowns who call themselves our leaders at least have taken some notice of what is happening. I don't need squat in terms of more ammo, but every time I have the opportunity I pick up at least one more box, just because it may carry some statement to those in power.

If someone other that an anti-gun, outright communist Democrat would have won the election, even considering the economic crap going on, do you think that we would have seen this ammo shortage? I don't.

It may not have happened quite so fast, or to quite the extreme, but yes I believe it has been a LONG time in the making. Remember, it is not just the one guy causing it either. It is the whole of congress. I still expect things to get a lot worse also, I'm not going to claim to know the future, but I have seen it. To see the future one only has to look into the past.

I'm covered, but will buy more to maintain my current amount. I can't say I really approve of shop owners going and buying up retail stock only to mark it up for resale though.
The frenzy may take long to end, so buy what and when you can to be able to shoot when you wish.

I can easily go through 200rds of ammo per session. My local Walmart set a limit to 300 per person. =| But there's plenty of other Walmarts around here with no limit. Too bad that I've had to make about a 20 visits all over to accumulate 3K rounds over the past month.

I figure that, if your practice schedule hasn't increased and you're storing more than twice as much ammo per gun as you had two years ago, then you're just being a doorknob.

I'm still hopeful that the ammo shortages result from a lot of new shooters and infrequent shooters becoming aware of the RKBA.

Hear, hear.

No limit when I went to wal mart yesterday.

Of course, they didnt have any 9mm or .223, and had maybe four boxes of .45. I used to buy all three by the case.
