i had one refuse to sell me 3 boxes of ammo. 2- 380 and 1 30-06.
said limit was 2 boxes. i asked if they didnt mean 2 box limit on any cal as their sign said, not 2 boxes only.:scrutiny:

manager came over and was saying all ammo in the case was considered the same but i could buy off the shelf also, ( shotgun shells ).:banghead:

so i said if i want to buy a cupple of boxes for more than one of my guns at the same time i need to go somewhere else? she said yep and she didnt have time to discuss it any futher.:what:

okie dokie but you better find some time to put this stuff away, i guess she missed the 3 kids with carts full of food. the look on her face was priceless.

No. The proper response here would be to throw her onto the ground, straddle her with both halves of her shirt collar balled into your fists, get your face roughly half an inch from hers, and scream something about regretting this moment for the rest of her life.

Funny stuff, Maelstrom. Methinks we are too easily offended these days.

Okay, so you ran into a clerk who could reasonably deduce you were buying a firearm for a third person and exercised her discretion to protect her employer rather than you. By the way, the fact that the third person was your father matters not.

Let's all become big boys and stop playing the game of seeing how easily we can become incensed at the latest outrage thrown our direction. It's almost as if we're all starting to act like Democrats. Sheesh. :p

I had a lady refuse to sell me a shotgun at a pawn shop once because a friend of mine was in there earlier and spotted it. Knowing I have to buy nearly every shotgun I see he called me and told me to come look at it. When I went to take a look at it he came with me. She refused the sale because she said we were together. I thought about it for a second and I was like well thats understandable, I see how you could think I'm getting it for someone else so I left. BUT, anytime I go back to that pawn shop, she remembers me and refuses to sell me a firearm. I think that's a little extreme. Never shall I return to "Pronto Pawn".

A pawn shop in Austin, Tx would'nt let anyone look at their overpriced-worn-out junk pistols without a CHL; shop with you're feet-Go somewhere else.

The feds busted a guy doing straw buys at Cabelas in Buda via some women; this is when alot of investigations were going on concerning smuggling guns to Mexican gangs south of the border.

It's their store, their rules so let'em live & die with them.

Our Walmarts do not carry firearms any longer. It's a moot issue around Chicago Metro area. The one thing to remember is gun police do set up strawman stings on occasion. A smart dealer would be aware of this and train his employees to refuse any sale they felt uncomfortable with. We have a club member who ownes a small shop in the suburbs who has been hit several times by the BATFE/CPD undercover units.

The Walmart Superstore is exactly 3 miles from my home. The OK Corral Gunshop is 3 1/2 miles from my home and just down the street from Wallyworld. OK Corral is a little higher in price but I can get waited on and if he doesn't have what I want he will get it. He also has security cameras on all the time. Care to guess who gets my money? I have never been refused a sale but I guarantee if I were that would be their last opportunity for my patronage.

You have a right to take your money and walk.

I would have walked.

+1. By going back and purchasing there, you reinforce the poor customer service you recieved. You can complain and moan all you want, but big retailers listen to the almighty dollar, and your complaints are heard the loudest when you take your dollars elsewhere. Stop accepting less than complete satisfaction where you shop.

I love walmart threads

You know that when this happens and you tell them that you will take your money elsewhere and you do. You need to call them up or contact them somehow and let them know that you did take your money to some other store and let them know why. And do it everytime you buy something that they could have sold you since you dont shop there anymore.

Otherwise they wont know anything and only then will they get the hint and actually see the sales that they are missing out on with their stupid policies.

The Walmart Superstore here could not care less that they lost my gun business. They sell VERY few guns anymore and don't even have anyone to work the gun counter. Go there anytime and try to park close to the front door, not likely to happen. Go on Saturday after 7 am and try to park within rock throwing distance of the front doors. Ain't gonna happen. Bottom line, they sell more goldfish than guns. They don't miss my business.

I believe its pretty obvious that Wal-Mart is not our friend. Wal-Mart, just like Kmart and Target, is very anti-gun. Wal-Mart just pretends that its not and they want to make a profit off of those who do believe in the 2nd Amendment.
Look at some of their policies. Two that are immediately apparent to me are the photographing of customers purchasing firearms (not sure if they still do this) and their inane restrictions on handgun ammo. At least in NY, they will not sell ammo frequently used in handguns to anybody who does not produce a concealed carry permit. Quite frankly, I don't think they need to see my address or the list of handguns I own. Furthermore, I ran into this problem when I was trying to buy 9mm ammo for my Hi-Point carbine. The idiots there still wouldn't sell me the ammo. If this kind of treatment was required by law, that's one thing... but they're doing this stuff to customers out of downright bigotry.

Wal-Mart is anti-gun. If you're on these forums, they are your enemy. Don't give them a damn cent.

You know when you buy a gun they record the entire thing on their security camera. I would never buy a gun from them.

Gunshops here not only video record, they audio record everything just for instances like this - it's the old CYA game

I know of at least one gunshop in this area that has some SERIOUS security cameras , you can bet you get your picture taken as you check out. Doesnt bother me a bit.

The moral of this story is:
Turn the damn cell phone off while you are conducting a business deal, driving to the store, at the check-out at the grocery store, eating dinner with your wife/girlfriend, or other, etc.

I would have denied the sale too, just because people talking on a cell phone while they should be doing something else, and I have to wait on them to finish, really makes me PO'd.

They can refuse service to whomever they choose....it's their business.

Doesn't that get into the whole quagmire about being an entity that's open to the public, and therefore, refusing to sell something to someone becomes a case of discrimination, much like establishments in the "Old South" refusing to serve/sell to blacks?

I suspect that the clerk was not particularly versant in firearms laws and was following "orders" from a store "higher-up" who was probably anti-gun to begin with. Walmart employees are not always the "brightest and best."

AMEN.

Turn your phone OFF or silence it, or dont answer it when doing FTF business with anyone.

And if you're driving, get a bluetooth headset.

You still aren't paying full attention, but at least you have two hands on the wheel!

They have a right to deny a sale, for any reason or no reason at all.

Obviously for guns they have a legal duty to not sell at the slightest hint of a "straw purchase", which this guy more than gave them, IMHO.

But I'd love the opportunity to sue if any store that sells an item to someone else, but denies a legal sale to me of the same item! Early retirement here I come!

i told him i was at walmart about to buy a gun, he asked what kind so i described it to him then told him i would call him back when i was through

Sorry, this may be an honest coincidence, but it sure makes you sound like a Mayor Blomberg shill to someone over-hearing only one side of the conversation.

Yeah tell Walmart you will take your buisness elsewhere I am sure they will get a good laugh out of that. LOL like they care for every one disgruntled Walmart person I am sure there is a 100,000 happy Walmart customers. Not to mention how many people say they will never set foot in WAlmart again and stick with it?

Use it as a learning experience. Go back if you really want it.

This would never happen at my WalMart store. A detective is needed to find an employee. My cell battery would go dead before the counter person shows up.

Seriously, WalMart's Store...WalMart's Rules. Do not take it personally. Store policies are for a reason.

paraphrasing the adage about customer service

If you want good wholesome oats, you have to pay extra. But, if you can settle for oats that have passed through the horse, those you can get for a discount.

The Wal Marts in Palm Beach County Florida are mostly in bad neighborhoods, and being in one is like being in a foreign country. There is a new super store that just opened on the north side of West Palm Beach where employee theft and shoplifting is in the $70K per month range according to the Risk Management folks. Talk is that there is a plan to close the store and convert it into a distribution center. I go there to watch the locals partake of the free goodies as they walk the aisles and hide the wrappers on the shelves. At the rate the economy is going downhill it will only get worse..........I would guess the stores will have security on every aisle and pass the added cost onto the customers……..
