Wal Mart

The Real Mags, I disagree with you. Just because someone is on the phone and mentions they are buying a gun does not mean someone should be suspicious of a straw purchase. If that person is answering or asking questions about which gun they are buying, or asking to see different guns based on their phone conversation, then I could see being suspicious. Just talking on the phone is silly. What if I'm friends with the head of ATF and I'm talking to him about where to eat dinner that night while buying a handgun? Am I engaged in a straw purchase?

No but you would be acting rude. :)

i wasnt actually trying to purchase while on the phone..i had given the gun back to the lady and had stepped away from the counter she just happened to listen in on my conversation

Ughh.. NO, it wasn't the guy was on a cell phone while buying a gun that is a no no, and just rude on top of that. Ever heard of how straw sales go down?

Really, show me the law that says you arent allowed to use your cell phone while buying a gun.

Did I say it was illegal? No, but I did say that would be one of the tactics from a straw purchaser. Now stop putting words in my mouth.

(it ended up taking me 2 more tries at the store to finally get it but that is another story)
pikid89, I can't believe you still patronized wal mart after such anti customer treatment. Gads. We will roll over for anything. Is saving $10 on a gun matter so much that you went crawling back to wal mart several more times, after being treated like garbage, to get that gun? :barf::barf:

The way I see it pikid, you owe a small local gun dealer (one with GOOD customer service) TWO gun purchases in the next six months, and an extra donation to the "gun lobby" of your choice, just to make up for enriching the Brady Campaign of gun dealers.

So, its not against the law, but its still a no no, according to you. Glad we dont all have to live to your standards.
Yup too bad , you jerks can be as rude and impolite as you want and there is nothing the law can do about it.

The law may not be able to do anything about rude behavior concerning cell phones BUT they can do a LOT against a dealer who sells a gun in a straw purchase. If that dealer suspects a straw purchase because the buyer is on the cell phone(possibly making the deal) and procedes with the sale, they won't be in business(or free) much longer. I'm not a dealer but if I were, you would not get a gun from me if you were on your cell phone while trying to make a deal.

It's the clerk's decision to sell or not. If they do sell to a straw buyer, they get the heat for it...so they very well may take the safe route and tell you no.

Talking about the gun over the phone is suspicious since the clerk only hears half a conversation. Just to avoid raising suspicion don't talk about such things when making a purchase...just say "I'm a little preoccupied, I'll call you in a bit", and get things over with.

A little precaution on your end prevents the clerk from possibly getting alarmed, and everyone leaves happy. Sometimes it's hard to see things from both ends of the fence, but it's necessary to do such before we start throwing fingers around referring to others as various body parts.

Nice personal attack.
Again you are reading to far into my posts. It was not directed at you personally, more at people who are rude. So if you are calling yourself impolite and rude so be it.
