Bought a couple new (used) guns recently so I headed out to my local Walmart for my highly anticipated marathon session at the range.

To my surprise, the shelves were bare! WWB, Remington, Federal, everything they sell there was gone. There was one box of .357 Sig and that was it.

I asked the clerk what was up and he told me they've been out since Christmas and have no idea when they will be restocked?!?!?!?

I live in the Orlando area - anyone else have a similar experience?

My Walmart is almost bare of handgun ammo. They have 1 box of .45 and 7 boxes of 9mm. All others are sold out.

same story here. my local wally had a bit more than yours, but i think that is the story all over the country.

Around here one can certainly tell how long ago the election was by the increasing number of empty shelves at WMT, Sportsman's Warehouse, and other sporting goods stores..... We'd better shoot while you can, I think our days are numbered.....

One Walmart I stopped at had some .45, and bulk .22's, not much else. i was looking for 9mm and it was all sold out.

I havent checked any of the WalMarts around here since October, but they dont keep much ammo on the shelf anyway. Just a few boxes of each brand.

Ive got a lil over 2K rounds here now, so I should be good for this year. I can always pick up a few boxes here and there if I need too.

The ammo scarcity is indeed troubling. Why try to confiscate guns when you can simply restrict the flow of ammo? I'm just sayin'.

I can see where the shortage of 5.56 makes sense with the wars overseas. I don't know why other ammo is scarce. It's gotten to the point I don't like to shoot unless I know I can replace the ammo. That's simply not a given anymore.

Same here in Ladson S.C. been to three wallyworlds and not much avail. .45acp 9mm or bulk 22lr shelves are bare. From the three I visited, bought the last box of wwb 45acp and 4 5packs of 12ga 3"mag 00 buck! Was told the warehouse is empty and their waiting for restocking.

I picked up 12 box'es of 9mm Blazer Brass today and that left only 6 boxes on the shelf. Maybe I should of bought them too.

There are five wally worlds in my town, plus three more really close in nearby towns. Most still have some ammo, one was completely out of everything. There is also a Bass Pro in my town. With exception of a couple of boxes of .38 Special and a few boxes of 9mm of varying grains, there was very little to choose from. I told my friend about it. He lives in Kansas. He called the other day to tell me that his Bass Pro was also virtually out of everything as far as handgun ammo went.

At this point, I have to say that if I can't replace it, I won't shoot it.

i reload. i have about 1000 loaded on the shelf in 40, 200 of 9, but supplies for about 5 or 6k more. should be good up to the area 6 championships in april if i keep the shoot schedule down.

walmart here is a lil empty, but not bad. no hollow points, only cheap range stuff. no defense rounds.

Same here in Austin. They don't even have anybody manning the counter -- took me 30 minutes to get somebody to help me (cabinets were locked), and then only to find out they had absolutely nothing in stock.

I just picked up a Dillon 550B... maybe I should hurry up and order those supplies...

Folks are unnecessarily panicking at this point in time, creating shortages and resulting in huge price increases - Gander Mtn here, for example, raised Glock mags from 30 to 40 each in just the last week or two....

on reloading....

buy your primers NOW. they're getting really hard to find, especially small rifle since ARs are in such high demand.

Yea, I'm taking a short leave of absence from shooting until this panic at least starts to subside. It's too expensive and difficult to replenish reserves right now.

do what i did during the three week absence of shooting sports due to the holidays: dry fire practice. it's better than nothing.

I know ammo is scarce everywhere now, but I have also heard that some Wally Worlds are getting out of the ammo biz. I know that in my area I have to drive to about the 4th closest Walmart to even get to one that carries ammo anymore.

Tuesday, I went to the closest Wally World to pickup some ammo for my weekly range trip. They had two 50 round boxes of .357 sig so I bought both. They had no 38 special and no 45 ACP so I asked the clerk to call another store closer to the range to see if they had any 45 auto and the clerk there said yeah we got plenty. Went there and they had about two cases on the shelf. Got what I needed (plus) and 38 special. (btw this store had no 357 sig). Maybe you gotta shop around.
