Walmart Ammo

Supply & demand!

yup!!!

though the wal-marts around here seemed to have pretty good stock of what i plink with(mainly 9mm and .45 acp) so i'm not too worried.

if all goes well, i'm going to a local store and am buying 1000 rds of pmc .45.

By Wally World you all mean China Mart don't you? I think it's just China Mart doing what they do best, squeeze the competition till they fold and then create shortages so they can drive the prices up. BTW, I don't ever buy ammo at China Mart.

At my local walmart a few days ago the situation was: no bulk .22lr, no bulk 9mm, .40 and one box of wwb .45. What!!? Seriously are people stocking up for the apocolypse? I hate it when people freak out and creat shortages on things that are not going anywhere. Geez

I do realize that wally world is not the only place to buy ammo, but it is usually the cheapest and at times the most convienient when I am in the store to buy something else anyway.

As far as ammo prices go, Wally World seems to have everyone else beat around here.

I always check to find their misprinted price tags (happens more often than you would think). I can't afford to buy a box every time I go in there, but I always look to see what's in stock now a days....

On their common sales shelf, only bulk pack was for 44 Magnum, and only 1 box. No 40, 9, or 45 bulk white box in sight. Really hard to find the Federal 550 bulk pack in stock too.

I have a number of Walmarts in the general areas of town I have business in. One of them had nothing in 9, 40, 45, or 22...just a few stray boxes in 357 or rifle ammo, the other was stocked to the brim. Plenty of Remington/Winchester/Federal bulk .22 boxes. Plenty of WWB, Remington, and Blazer in every caliber. I'm wondering if that one just hasn't sold out yet like the other one. Reading some of these posts, it sounds like their distribution centers are out.

I've been worried about just that, so I bought 500 rounds of 9mm and 2200 rounds of .22. Sounds like they may not have any there next time I roll through...

I don't have the problem most of you are having. I live in northwest Indiana and go to school in central Indiana for most of the year. I stop by several different Walmarts all the time and they always have at least a few boxes of each caliber. I think maybe one time they didn't have .45acp, but every other time I've been able to buy the ammo I want.

I'd just stop by more often. I'm sure they get shipments all the time, but my guess is that one or two people buy out the whole lot. You just have to show up before the next guy does!

Hey AC - I haven't checked the Wally in Renton but the one in Lynnwood is ridiculously low on stuff. They've got a decent stock of Blazer stuff but no bulk .223 or WWB .45 or 9mm. I thought I was okay since I reload but now powder supplies are bad at Sportsmans Warehouse and even Cabela's. Couldn't get a keg of Varget to save my life.

Well, since my WallyWorld is totally out, I ordered a bunch at ammunitiontogo.com. I too, hate to shoot if I don't think I can replace what I'm shooting.
Heads up to all - they are running 5-7 days behind in filling orders. Anyone ever try that bulk stuff from Georgia Arms?

As long as I have bullets, powder, and primers, there won't be any ammo scarcity for me, I have plenty of all three.:):p

Went to my local Dicks last week and they had tons of ammo - literally. They had probably 30 cases each of Remington 9mm and .223 stacked up.

Panic buying or smart buying

Lots of posters here are claiming people (us) are panic buying...I'm not so sure it's that or whether people (we) are just smart enough to know prices are going to go up, so why not load up while prices are relatively low. Doesn't take a brain surgeon or rocket scientist to understand that one...it's just simple economics.

Anytime I buy 1000 rounds of whatever caliber, I never feel panicked!! To me, the panicker will be the one that gets to the store and sees the empty ammo shelves...should have planned ahead.

my local wal mart (hinesville Ga.) is looking more bare than normal, but they still have a good amount of ammo on hand.

My local Wally World had a TON of Blazer Brass 9mm when I went by last night, they're usually out. On the other hand they were completely out of WWB 50 and 100 packs, which they usually have, as well as 45acp in 185 and 230 gr. I'm wondering if I should go back and buy more, but I'm going to see how it cycles today at the range.

The clerk I spoke to claims that their distribution centers and warehouses are empty for the most part, so they have stock on a very random basis. You just have to look around at each location...

I don't know about that. I think a lot of it is panic buying. We have the buffoons who voted for O'bama for that (including the ones on this forum).

The price of metals is decreasing and so is the price of gasoline, so shipping should go down. If raw materials and shipping go down, then price of the finished product should decrease also. Maybe.

They sell it as soon as they get it. Someone comes in and buys cases of stuff. There are not many 9mm to be found at WalMart around here.

Local Wally's have bare shelves, the clerks say they order and nothing shows up on the truck.

OT: I ran through 300 rounds of that Blazer Brass. . . HOLY HELL is that some dirty ammo! :scrutiny:

Update

Well, I went to the next closest Walmart and they were out as well. So I went to a further one on the way to work and found a bunch of Blazer brass in 9mm and 5 boxes of 45acp in WWB. Otherwise, they were sold out as well.

I cleaned them out of WWB 45 and bought a couple boxes of the Blazer. Any experiences with this stuff? So far, my P7s have eaten everything I feed them so we'll see .............

The clerk told me that after the elections in November, a dude came in and bought over $1500 in ammo. Panic buying? Nah ..........
