Walmart Ammo

I fed Blazer Brass and WWB all day today through my P7, Sig P220, and RIA 1911. Not one problem. Good day at the range! By the way, the P7 was new to me and boy, was that a pleasure to shoot!

Wally world has been getting out of the gun business for the last 2-4 yrs. I wouldn't read anything into ammo scarcities there. Most online places are good to go now.

Northeast Houston was pretty bare today (only 380 and 9mm behind a case support left.) I got a bulk .22 that they had ton of. Thank goodness for reloading.

I'm responsible for one of our local Wally Worlds (we have 2) in buying out their Blazer Brass in 9mm & .45acp for at least 2 weeks.
After visiting the store a few times and them being empty, the clerk finally told me to come at a certain day/time when they stock the incoming ammo.
Did that a few times, and purchased all of it...It wasn't that much, it seems they were'nt getting as much as I thought...
I didn't purchase because of the Obama Presidency, it just dollars cheaper than any chain stores or gun shops around these parts..Besides, BlzBrass shoots well in my pistols...
I'm good for range ammo for the coming months...:)

Here in Houston, I have ran into the same problem. Very low supplies or limited calibers. Academy seems to be keeping their shelves stocked but Walmart is either going out of the ammo business or the supply chain for the stores has a problem. I have been to several Walmarts in the area and they all are about the same.

Was the same here in NW FL until the end of the year. I was there last week and they had cases of ammo on the floor.

Whewwwwww Wherestheham.........

Totally off the subject of this post but what a website you have!!! Read your testimony word by word, syllable by syllable, punctuation by punctuation. And will probably go back and read it again and again. You helped to show the Source of hope where there is no hope, Peace where there is no peace, Life where there is no life. Thanks for not being ashamed. And as you probably already knew, you didn't have to wait on the alter in a church although that certainly was my choice also........an alter for that decision can be an ole log out in the middle of the woods, a steering wheel in a car, a boat in the middle of the lake....or a pillow on your bed. But if so, then the Church still should be the next step!

God Bless and continue to enjoy the eternal security, whether or not there is ammo available!!!!

Mr. Moderator, I hope that you're in an understanding mode!!!!!! My response certainly didn't follow the original subject!!!

Phonetic: Congrats on the P7, trust me, it won't be long before it's got a playmate. (If for nothing else, you can switch off and let one cool, whilst you shoot the other!)

Haven't shopped mine in a month or so. Their stock is pretty hit or miss. I think it stems from the way they do their stock. Generally, Wal-mart stocks a little bit of everything and relies on their automated order system to tell the distribution center how much to send. As a result, say they stock 20 boxes of XXX. If someone comes in an buys all 20 boxes, they are out for a few days until they get more. For the calibers I shoot, it seems like either they have a bunch or they have none and it varies constantly.

Something that's had me wondering is that all the local wal-marts down here do not carry firearms, and haven't for at least a few years. Since this is Texas, it kind of suprises me. Do any of the Wal-marts still carry firearms?

Blazer brass is good stuff. Never had one problem with it.

The new stuff say's "BLAZER" instead of CCI .45 auto on the casing.

As an addendum to my earlier post: I haven't had any problems at all with Blazer Brass. It fed and shot well, and it's a few dollars cheaper than WWB, it just makes my gun a whole lot dirtier.

I've been hitting my three local area Wal Mart's for the last few weeks to buy as much ammo as I can. They have great prices so I figure I might as well get it while I can.

I've bought a bunch of the Blazer brass in .40 and 9mm and I haven't had a single issue with any of it.

"Get it while I can"

"Get it while the prices are low"

"The price of ammunition will go up"

Where is all this coming from? Seems like the only thing that is going to make prices shoot up is people drastically increasing the demand by panic buying. What are you panicing for? It's just selfish. Panic buyers keep ammunition out of more people's hands than any anti-gun laws.

Ben,

Every other shop in my area has .40 target ammo for $17.99 for 50 rounds; if I can get it at Wal Mart for $12.49 you can bet I'm going to. Same for 9mm ammo......... I don't think it's going to dissapear but I'm not about to pass up a good deal either.

As they say, you don't make money when you sell, you make money when you buy..... and I'm buying as much as I can.

FYI I have the same attitude with shotgun shells (you can never have enought for sporting clays) and cigars........

Well Ben,

It's obviously the result of a bunch of Elephants (of which I am one) reacting to a nation that obviously is made up of well over half its population of Liberal Donkeys. I have quite a stash of ammo laid back that I bought last fall at some mighty fine prices and I don't feel the least bit guilty. I learned a long time ago that hesitation can be mighty expensive. If I ended up with some of your ammo, I'm sorry but I firmly believe in being prepared for an ambush instead of trying to find my gun after I'm surrounded in a dead end gulch!!!! IMO we're all going to learn some long lasting lessons during the next four years.........I hope that four years from now, you can say to me...... "I told you so!"........

I have been to three Walmarts in the last two weeks with the intention of buying Winchester whitebox .45 and CCI minimags. All three were just about what everyone else has seen, bare shelves. One of them had about 10 boxes of Winchester whitebox 9mm and that was about it. I finally broke down and bought Federal .45 from a local shop at about $28 for 50 rounds. I only shoot about 7-14 rounds each trip to the range now. Forget about the minimags, nothing! It's getting bad!

When I asked today, it was a "supplier issue".

Personaly, I think they are trying to squeeze the manufacturers for lower prices and they told Wal-Mart what to do with it.

You can get all you want at Gander Mountain or Dicks.

I'm glad I got the two boxes of 100round 9mm Winchester when I do, farking NOBODY else in town has anything 9mm in stock. I'm getting sick of the paranoid people gobbling up the ammo at times like this. :cuss:

Here in Woodbridge VA, I stopped by Firiday. They had a crap load of Blazer Brass .40S&W but not much else.

They did have 1 box of Blazer Brass .45ACP and I bought it just to put in my ammo stash.

I didn't see any Federal bulk pack .22LR, in fact I didn't see any .22LR's on the shelf.

We have plenty of Blazer Brass at Wally World. Matter of fact it's stacked all over the place.....they're doing so well in sales that they're thinking of lowering the price.

Jerry

Personally, I think that until this ammo buying craze subsides, ordering ammo online is the way to go. It seems like online re-sellers tend to pay closer attention to their ammo stock. I saved over $50 or more by ordering online, not to mention found ammo that is nearly impossible to find anywhere else. So, for all of you who are waiting for Wal-Mart to replenish their stock, you might consider the online alternative.

As an interesting side note....I have yet to encounter any probs buying .45 ACP "range" ammo (Winchester 230g. FMJ) from Wal-Mart, but have had one helluva time finding 9mm ammo. Either way, when it comes to HD ammo, I exclusively buy online.

I talked to a guy behind the counter yesterday and he said that there is going to be a massive reorganization of the shelves and that's why hardly anything is getting ordered. Automated systems, what are you going to do? Academy here I come!

Does anyone know of an online ammo store that has cheap shipping?

I think that after the election/economy problems a whole bunch of people went out and bought guns (including handguns) and now those people want to shoot their new guns, thus the ammo shortage. Buying the gun may have been a panic response (to either Obama or the economy) but I think the ammo buying is just people wanting to have some fun with their new toys.
