What's the average going rate for a NIB P99 40? I think I've seen them here around $600-$650 on a pricey gunshop around here.

The SW99 is essentially the same as the P99 A/S. Now, SW quit making the SW99, however. Now they make the SW990L - it is different - the trigger is not DA/SA, and it is much heavier. Not really a fan of the new trigger. If U can get a new SW99, however, get it if you can't get the P99 A/S. It is a great gun.

Actually 1KPerDay, just guessing, I'd say you didn't give the P99 a chance. My prime gun for ~15 years has been the Sig 226 and I never thought I'd find a pistol that I could shoot anywhere near as good as I could my "Sig"... Until I found the Walther P99. Now after years of perfect service I have replaced my beloved 226 with a P99... I Will always have my West German made 226 for sentimental reasons as I used it in a shoot out in an in home invasion (that's another story) and I attribute my Family's survival partially to that wonderfully designed, perfectly functioning firearm. No Sir, I love my Sig! But... The Walther P99 is just a shade better in my books... The trigger will take a while to get used to, it's just, well, different... The gritty feeling goes away after you put a few hundred rounds down range. Two of my P99's I got used because the previous owners gave up on them and I got nearly perfect pistols at a used price because of it... I said "the Walther P99 is the most over looked pistol today" partially for this reason... The triggers on my P99's now are SWEET and I can rattle off a volley of rounds faster and more accurately than I believed I could ever possibly accomplish!

The accuracy issue, is certainly subjective, but once the trigger smooths out, your accuracy increases... I think the P99 is the most instinctive shooting pistol I have ever shot, and I've shot a few... But, it fits me... Is it more accurate than the Sig? Nope! Can I shoot it better than my Sig? It pains me to admit it, but yes! To each his own of course, and I will NEVER run down a Sig! Heck, Sigs are still my second favorite guns!

Glock 26 vs P99C

Guys, I'm very close to purchasing a Glock 26, should I give the P99C a good look?

Seems like the A/S triggers are all gone - so how does the QA trigger compare to the Glock?

Already ordered!!

I have to say when I first asked I did not expect such an overwhelmingly positive response, U know to each his own . I thought comments would be peppered good & bad but it's been 99 % positive. I ordered the P99 in 9mm & the G22, I've read good things about the G22 on various gun sites recently but on a thread here I read several bad reviews any opinions? I mean it's too late to cancel the order but what do I have to look fwd 2? BTW I will post my experiences with the P99, again thx 4 everyone's feedbk. GOOD 2 GO!!!!!

If U look online, U can still find P99 A/S models. That's probably the only way U will find one.

As for the QA - I do not like it - I find the trigger too heavy.

the new & older rail

Here is the newer model on the left, and the older style in the center and on the right. All are the AS trigger:

I have a P99A/S and it is the most most accurate auto I own and the only .40. I had a Glock 27 but it went down the road after I experienced the Walther. The P99 never had a misfire, no issues ever. And it fits my hand nicely.
