Yet aother "thank you THR" thread, but can there really be too many of those? I just want to express my appreciation to THR for what it provides:
1. A place where gun enthusiasts can agree to disagree in a respectful manner.
2. An environment where even the trolls are a pretty well-behaved bunch.
3. The diligence of the moderators to ensure THR remains a pleasant experience.
4. An online watering hole of knowledge, experience, and advice from around the world.
5. An internet resource that can be viewed at work & home without offense.
6. A site geared towards educating, entertaining, and uplifting gun owners.
7. It's free!
What positive things have you gotten from THR?

When people ask what's the best gun magazine I know of, I always say "The High Road.org". One way the printed magazines have a real advantage is that you can read them cover to cover and then put them down. I could sit at my computer for endless hours on this site (if I HAD endless hours!) I don't think I'll ever have enough time to read everything I want to read here. I agree with all seven of Ladysmith's reasons. Sorry I had to add this negative! :D

Kudos

BZ to whoever came up with the idea for this forum and how it is run. This is by far the best I personally have seen on the net or anywhere else, for that matter.

THR has proved to be very good company during LOOONNNGG all-nighter server upgrades.

Thanks - and I was happy to contribute to the THR server upgrade drive. At least you guys didn't have to do it in the middle of the night... Or did you?

I really appreciate the support I recieved from THR members when my son was hospitalized for 6 1/2 weeks at Children's Hospital Boston in early 2003. We had computer access in the hospital, and THR provide some much-needed familiar conversation when sitting by the bedside and staring at the wall became just too much...some THR members in Massachusetts even sent me some magazines to help pass the time. I didn't post much (we were rather distracted...) but I appreciated the support and the diversion when it was most needed.

Lots of meaningful info. I recently added a new caliber to my connection. TFL archives provided reloading recommendations, holster selection, ast range reports, etc. Made my new acquisition 'even' more rewarding.

And just exchanging opinions with the folks here is pretty entertaining.

At the risk of sounding like a feel-good liberal

I really like the diversity, both of thought and of culture. It totally blows away the stereotype of "the gun nut" which is perpetuated on so many other sites. THR is a good place to send fence-sitters and skeptics.

i love this place. found it by accident searching for info on a beretta.

i'm probably considered wacko by the majority,

but at the same time i learn so much, people really are generally cool here

get a lot of good logic to use on people, there is always either some amazing video or photo or story worth showing someone else, and Oleg's posters- well, forget about it. my tribe.net profile is full of them.

the possibilites to actually change people's minds on this site is without limit.

I agree that this is a great forum to learn a lot about guns and related topics. I especially like the fact that the topics seem to stay focused on firearms and their related categories. I am also glad that for the most part everyone seems to respect and consider others' points of view and not go on personal attacks. I think that is what really sets this forum apart and above other ones.
Having not been very interested or knowledgeable with guns until my husband (who is absolutely gun crazy!) got me into them. I really appreciate a place to go so that I can learn more. I am beginning to become a little gun crazy myself (including a small collection of my very own!). :what:
Keep up all the good work!! And Thanks again!

I have gotten in trouble with the wifey on more than one occasion for being on the computer so long

Oh, you said POSITIVE things

:D

Ahhhh the warm and fuzzies,,,,,,,
This place is a bastion for the interested and the interesting
