"Anyone who witnessed the North Hollywood shootout in 1997 knows that when placed in the wrong hands, these military-style assault weapons represent a tremendous threat to officers and public safety in California."

Actually they had machine guns, which have nothing to do with th AWB. :banghead:

Actually, the N. Hollywood robbers had actual, by the DoD and Jane's Guide definition, assault rifles. Select fire, capable of semi or full-auto.

And Sven, by Kaliban I meant the folks who run the government there, not the oppressed masses.

I was born and raised there for 22 years, but I only go back to visit my parents and see the Giants play.

It's almost as if there's some sort of correlation between the number of byzantine firearms laws passed and the frequency of 'record-breaking' busts.

Ahem:
"We do not live by rule of law, because no one can possibly go a day without breaking one or another of the goofy laws that have been imposed on us over the years. No one even KNOWS all the laws that apply to almost anything we do now. We live in a time of selective enforcement of law."

Update on CA Weapons Seizure In Progress 1/8/04

Update! CA DOJ is knocking on doors of OnTarget Range customers demanding rifles purchased legally in CA. They are now classified as "assault weapons". Specifically the Robinson M96 sold without the pistol grip "legally" can not have the grip stud which this store sold them with and is detailed on the www.RobArm.com :

If you own one of these prepare for a visit soon!

But, but, registration does lead to confiscation?!?!?! It was only to keep your precious guns from being stolen and used to murder little children and mothers!! This CANNOT be!

There's no hope for us our retarded ban can't even sunset it has to be repealed or be found unconstitutional and that case has been thrown out twice in our briliant state soo.....were hosed completely...forever. God I was in Reno last weekend I was so pissed that our state is run by communists. They had this gorgeous new bushmaster and the guy behind the counter is going off about supressors and then sees my driver's license as im buying 9mm ammo and just chuckles and says "I'm sorry, that sucks" grrr somone repeal that horib beast.

The people of California can sleep safer tonight, knowing that good men have gone in harms way to eradicate the criminal element in their midst.

Somewhere, Liberty weeps...

Tracer rounds?!

A fake grenade?!

*gasp* Selling semi-automatic firearms to adults?!

FRY HIM! BURN HIM AT THE STAKE! Allowing someone to possess weapons of mass destruction like tracer rounds... the nerve!

In August of 1999...

I moved out of Sacramento for Spacecoast Florida. In my household goods, there were AK's, AR's, a BM-59, M14NM, FAL, VZ-52, FN-49, and LOTS of 20 and 30-round magazines for the above. Over 300 30-round AK mags, as a matter of fact, thanks to a buddy who couldn't leave the state before SB-23 went into effect. I shudder to think what life would be like were I to stay there. Obviously, the local Department of (mis)Justice peruses rifle and pistol ranges to see what shows up. Sports Authority in Citrus Heights was registering ammo sales, so one can see who buys a bunch of .223, 7.62x39, and .308.

What bothers me most is the fact that California's DOJ still has a paper record of my firearm purchases there, and are probably spending time trying to figure out where the banned rifles went. Bill Lockyer, if you're still looking, come to Florida and get 'em! :fire:
